Good sounds and overall what I was looking for. A bit smaller than I thought it would be. Also I think the previous model, which was less expensive, would have been good for what I needed. So in hindsight I will not buy this model, as expensive and not much difference than cheaper models.

One for each of our boys who are 7 & 10.They mainly use them to play music & do quizzes, but there are loads of fun & interesting things you can do with these things, like get weather updates, communicate between rooms, learn jokes, play audiobooks, etc you can have them playing different songs or link them to play the same song at the same time, so you have a surround sound thing going on in the house. We might even get a 3rd one to have in the kitchen at some point so as to better cover all corners of the house. The sound these small speakers put put is pretty impressive.We dont yet have any of our lights or blinds connected to these yet but we might do further down the track. Have recently upgraded from a much older echo dot. The sound quality is a lot better. Only issue is the charge/connect cable is quite loose and has to sit just right to not turn off. This might have just been an issue with this device and not an all round defect, hence the 4 star rating. The buttons on top are very sensitive as well, but will take some getting used to. Overall a great device! Would recommend.

I've had an Echo dot before, but I love the new features of this one. Displaying the time is a definite plus. It also displays the song if you're listening to your own music. The speaker quality is really good too. Perfect for my little home! Oh and I love the fact that you can press a button to stop the smart speaker listening to you too. Really happy with purchase.
It took me a few hours to set this up, and I had to consult Google for help, and that did the trick. The only disappointment is there isn't a kiwi accent for the voice. I'm enjoying this a lot, I have it connected to all my favourite radio stations, Spotify and Radio Paradise. I'm not a huge tech person, so this feels very modern to me.
I used my Samsung Fold 4 to download the Alexa so as to pair the mobile with the Echo Dot and it worked. But when I tried to connect with my home's modem with the Echo Dot, it failed many times. I was a bit upset cause actually there was no connection problem between my Fold 4 phone and my modem. Later I was advised to try replacing Samsung Fold 4 by an Apple iphone to redo the setup again, it worked however ! This is not a pleasant set up experience indeed. I am about to return the Echo Dot with that frustration.
I bought this for my niece for Christmas, so been used yet. It looks like a neat little device and I liked the clock feature. I chose blue because as per the pictures the clock was more visible on the blue one. I have a 3rd gen echo so excited to see what the extras are on this one. Pleased it was on offer.

One thing it gave me as a senior with little knowledge of these modern day gadgets, was frustration and anger issues!!Unless you're up to date on modern electronics and their required programming to make them fully operational and are familiar with all the jargon that goes with it, I would not consider purchasing one.I will not even get into the " help desk " communication I had with the rep trying to walk me through the process of making my Echo Dot 5th Gen operational, other than to say the individual assisting me, must have been in a large room with about 8-10 other reps in close proximity, assisting other customers!!!! The primary reason I purchased this model was the room temperature sensor which should mean it can control our WiFi enabled heat pump which is yet to be installed. This unit has a different type of display which has more functionality than that of the 4th generation unit able to now display now fairly rudimentary weather graphics. As a consequence of the new display type the clock is actually not as clear as the previous model, but still very readable. We are very happy with this unit, but would have otherwise not have replaced the 4th generation model otherwise as only wished to gain the new functionality.
I wanted something to help me stay organized. With having two children, and many different schedules. It's nice to have something to communicate while running out the door to remind me to do this later, or while making breakfast to add something to the grocery list. I don't have to carry a book around to remember to write it down. It all comes on the app and is in one space! It has helped me yo be more organized and less lists everywhere!
