Just got my first Firestick 4k Max in an attempt to stop paying for high priced Cable, Directv and my current Dish. Its a great device and definitely opens doors towards Cord Cutting. The main problem for me is the device is totally lacking in memory, which defeats the purpose of loading apps in my pursuit to watch what I want and not pay. Yes there is a decent fix by adding an external drive, but no matter what for me, who likes Live Tv networks i am used to, I still need to pay some outfit to get what I truly want..like Sling, Hulu, or perhaps 1 of the many IPTV providers. So free tv will not be in the picture, plus of course you need very good internet just to use the Firestick, and that is actually a lot of money these days. If you like movies, and tv shows, and perhaps you're a Netflix type of lover, the Firestick is awfully good for that stuff and there is plenty of live tv, but its probably not most of the stations you have been used to in the NY market. Finally I do believe its worth buying because you will get a lot of options in tv watching and the price is great considering. Just realize it will need additional storage added (USB &Cable)for many people who want to add their personal apps in a journey to get all the tv choices they had with large well known providers. I should also mention that if you have good internet and a tv that is wirhout a cable or satellite box, the Firestick will make the tv totally useable and provide a lot of content to watch. An example for use is a guest bedroom, the garage, the basement, or even the shed.

I was already debating on dropping a few hundred dollars on a new TV during the Black Friday so that when family came the following day, we could all watch a movie. While there were some good deals and what not, I’m so glad that I remembered there are products for this exact purpose! (Making a non-smart TV into a smart TV). I did some research across all of the MANY different products out there and I wanted to find the one that would allow me to search the actual web without having to download apps to the device or even on my phone to screen cast. THIS IS IT! This new version states it has a faster core processing has another system so it doesn’t just USB plug into the TV like the standard Roku does. Heck! that isnt something I’m complaining about. I can even manage other bluetooth devices like for surround sound. 10/10 recommend THIS specific one.

Interface is snappy and you can control your a/v receiver and TV which is great and not offered with other devices. My main complaint is there's not enough storage. You can install maybe 5 apps. There's closet to 1gb free when starting out. You will keep getting pop-ups during your show about low storage because the cache is getting filled bringing total storage below 600mb, which produces the warning. You can use a otg adapter with a flash drive which I did, but most apps can't be transferred to USB storage. They need to decrease the bloatware, or make a fire stick that has 16gb of storage. I think I'm just going to get a Roku, this is just rediculous.

I purchased this item specifically to watch Disney+. It works so much better than streaming to one of my PCs and then using ChromeCast to display on my big-screen TV. In general it is highly capable. However, with all the possible streaming sources, the menu system is cluttered and confusing. You end up relying on the "recently viewed" list rather than being able to simply navigate to the source you want. A speed-dial feature would be great but I don't see it. A simply list of available streaming sources would also be great but I don't see that either. The only technical issue I have found is that if your Internet connection is not fast/reliable, the Fire TV Stick will not operate reliably. It will hang and generally behave in an erratic fashion. Purchased 2, one for a new TV and one for an older (4 years) model. Both provide the same level of service but the interface with the TV (mostly at start up) is different. Do that really matter - no still gets you to the same place. Setup was simple but I had all the accounts and passwords ready before I started. Step by step was simple, the sound bar was different - I had to roll through a long list before I got to mine but that that worked perfectly. I remember setting up that soundbay in my Xfinity remote looking at a small piece of paper folded more times than an origami flower and then still having to pick one of 5 available codes. I wish the 4 buttons at the bottom were programmable instead of fixed - maybe future software upgrade. So far I'm pleased with my firesticks, I have 2 in my house and a Fire Tv. Amazon really do a good job enclosing such a great device in a small box smaller than its remote control. I have no complaints about any of the fire sticks I have. Great product! I have a Nvidia Shield tv box very pricey and worthless, not always when you buy something this expensive, you get what is expected because its price. I started to have problems with my shield a year after I purchased it. I still the have the first version of firestick, the one that didn't have Alexa yet. It still works! It is slow but for the many years I used it. Money well spent. 24 bucks I paid for it at Best Buy. I just had to retire it for a better version. Very pleased!
I already had the 4K fire tv stick and wanted the Max because it is a better performer. The stick works great for 4K movies and shows. Movies like Halloween Ends and Marvel films were flawless to stream. Shows on Disney+ and Netflix were also easy to watch. Amazon needs to improve its software when streaming 4K content. The player sometimes ignores that the content is 4K and displays HD and not UHD for a few moments. The stick also doesn't have super resolution upscaling like the newer cube which possibly uses a sharpening filter on the screen. Alexa is also helpful but sometimes doesn't understand commands that are not clear enough. Ethernet with firetv will most likely not work because the adapter that worked with the older one was impossible to get to work with ... MoreI already had the 4K fire tv stick and wanted the Max because it is a better performer. This fire tv stick is definitely an upgrade from the older one.
I have a lot of Fire Sticks and Fire Cubes and this is the latest iteration of the 4K stick. Let me start off by saying that it is better than the previous versions in several ways: 1. Faster to navigate 2. Hot keys for some quick apps. 3. Remote programming has improved a lot. The few things that could make it better in my opinion: 1. Programming hot keys for apps I actually use instead of preprogramme ones. 2. Quicker voice recognition when the button is pressed. 3. Direct access to things like the timeout and sleep timers. I've used a separate app to set them not to time out, but it's just changing a setting that is hidden and I don't know why it's not available. The rest is typical of the FireTV devices. I have a Samsung Smart HD LED tv. Unfortunately it's a few years old, so gradually apps such as All4, My5 and ITV hub became obsolete. We persevered without as nothing wrong with tv display or sound. Eventually, we decided to investigate a replacement and visited a store and talking to a partner explained the problem. He suggested the fire stick. For the small price, there was little to lose. It certainly does the job. The only reason that I haven't given 5 stars is that recently we've noticed some limited pixelation which seems to occur a specific times of day. There's no reported interference on the transmitter and another to seems unaffected. Removing seemed to resolve. I got this Fire Stick becuase I travel often work and like to turn the tv in the hotel room into a smart tv. I was able to use it and watch whatever I wanted but only at max volume. For some reason, the remote would not control the volume. I followed the instructions as they were given to me during setup. All of the resolutions to troubleshoot the volume control did not work and im not about to spend hours on the phone to fix this. I downloaded the app and tried to control it with my phone but that did’nt work either. I tried to command Alexa to do it but she couldnt do it either. I ended up spending more money for a better remote. We’ll see how that works. I am also not happy that the stick needs to be plugged into a power source the entire time you are using it.
