API Stress Coat Water Conditioner 118ml
API Stress Coat is an essential water conditioner for any aquarium owner. It is a multi-purpose product which is scientifically proven to help relieve fish of stress, as well as help to restore tissue damage. Stress Coat works by forming a synthetic slime coating around the fish, helping to replace the natural secretion of slime produced by fish. This can often be halted by stressful situations, leaving the fish more vulnerable to disease and infection. It is a multi-purpose solution which also helps to remove ammonia, chlorine and chloramines from tap water. It is advised that this product is used when adding new fish, during water changes, or when beginning a new aquarium. Available in 118ml, 237ml, 473ml and 1.9 litre sizes.

It feels slimy, which is great because this is supposed to replace your fish's slime coat. I heard that it clogs one's filter and, so I switched out to a competitor and I noticed that my prefilter and filter don't get clogged as much. That said, I will still buy this in a pinch every time because it is readily available at any pet store and it's so much cheaper than any other option. I hope they keep making this, and I'm 99.9% certain that they will because it's so cheap and popular. This is like the standard of all stress coat replenishers and dechlorinators. Better ones exist out there, but this isn't going to kill your fish or anything. For record, I have fresh water fish in a tropical setup without plants. API Stress Coat Aquarium Water Conditioner (8 fl. oz.) Is my favorite water conditioner. I used it for the tap water in DC and now I use it here in Denton TX. The fish love it and are thriving. I do large water changes with just a splash of this in all of my (planted) tanks and everyone stays happy. Easy low maintenance.

API Stress Coat is a phenomenal product. It reduces stress up to 40% by making tap water safe for fish; in addition, it replaces the protective slime coat. The product is fortified with soothing aloe vera which promotes healing from torn fins and skin wounds, reduces susceptibility to disease and infection, reduce electrolyte loss. Stress coat also removes chlorine and chloramines and neutralizes heavy metals that are found in tap water. Aloe barbadensis (Aloe vera) contains a colorless mucilaginous gel called aloe vera gel. Quite a few biological effects of aloe vera including immunostimulation, increasing growth performance, improvement of wound healing in fish have been researched and founded. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) are continually produced in animals ... MoreAPI Stress Coat is a phenomenal product. Quite a few biological effects of aloe vera including immunostimulation, increasing growth performance, improvement of wound healing in fish have been researched and founded. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) are continually produced in animals during normal aerobic metabolism that can damage most cellular components leading to death. Fish possess an antioxidant defense system to reduce the negative effects of ROS. Fish are aerobic organisms that are susceptible to ROS. Therefore, aloe vera is a great healing inhibitor and immune booster for fish and their protective slime coat. I have been using this product for over 15+ years and its a miracle cure that increases the survivability of my fish. In my personal opinion, I would never use this product to simply condition water instead use a primer to get the job done. However, I do use this product in conjunction with water changes to try to destress my fish and boost their immune system since tap water is damaging to a fish's slime coat. Last but not least, I highly recommend pouring in the stress coat after conducting the water changes and not before or during since the stress coat will smear onto the aquarium glass causing the glass to appear dirty and/or blurry. You can easily clean it up with a scraper, but it is just beneficial to save time and effort.

This helped with stress from fish bought online. The fist batch without this had some die. The second batch with it all lived. My water parameters were good for both batches. Both of the shipped fished arrived in cold water and were stressed. But the second batch I had added stress coat along with my Prime and it made a difference. I still use the Prime though because I trust it. Something about the aloe in this does make a difference.
I love this product. I have been using it for several years now. I have several of my fish for many years now. It gives amazing water clarity and truly helps protect your fish.
I do not use this as a product to treat my tap water. For that, I use prime which seems to just be far more concentrated and I seem to have better results with prime as a conditioner and ammonia treatment than I did with this stuff. That does not however take away the ability for this product to be effective in treating things like fin rot and for stress. I am 100% confident that the use of Stress Coat in my quarantine tanks and when acclimating fish has lead to me having a much higher success rate in nursing fish back from illness or the scary acclimation process in which you can lose fish easily with one simple mistake. I've been using this product in conjunction with multiple medications and it definitely keeps the fish healthy, calm, and eating while in ... MoreI do not use this as a product to treat my tap water. I've been using this product in conjunction with multiple medications and it definitely keeps the fish healthy, calm, and eating while in quarantine. It definitely helps stunt the rotting of fins and spread of fungal/bacterial infections when used with other medicines. This product is a MUST have for those of use who quarantine and nurse less than optimally healthy fish back to satisfactory health. If you're serious about fish keeping, always quarantine and always use Stress Coat!
I have used this for years. Mostly for betta's. I have had 2 fish last more than 4 years and I have a guy in a large vase that survived a move last year that is a little over 5 years old. Yes I know, they aren't supposed to live that long and no I can't prove it. But I know how old Wolowitz is and without this product our hardwater would have killed him last year. We went from relatively soft water to hammer and chisel water and he is as happily blowing his nest bubbles as he was a year ago.
I was pleasantly surprised by the size of this bottle. When I purchased this product the price for such a large bottle was very reasonable. A good deal! I bought 2 bottles at that time. It works like it's suppose to , making the water safe for fish. (Make sure you follow the directions as to the amount to use per gallons of water) The only problem is it stinks. It has a weird , noticable smell that I'm not use to smelling with this type of product.
I always recommend Indiefur above every other seller as they sell genuine product at right market price, unlike any amazon or flipkart seller who sells the same product at a higher MRPs then the original market price. Also the delivery is fast & well packed. They take care of the cuatomer preferences & they deliver the product fast & seamlessly. Good work Indiefur team. Thank you!!
I was starting a new tank, followed all the rules, but when I put my fish in they just weren't right. After my first water change they were a mess! One of them even started shaking, but all my water parameters were fine and consistent. I added this to the tank, just the standard dose, and within an hour they had all calmed down. After a day they were starting to swim around, and three days later they're happy, playing, and eating normally. I absolutely attribute it to this stuff. I also had to quarantine a fish that just wasn't right from day one. I added this to his tank as well and I think it helped him survive. I now have this on auto delivery so I can't run out. I'm a believer!
