Apple Lightning to 3.5 mm Headphone Jack Adapter

Only exists because apple removed the aux port for a fake home button with no extra use. Now need to spend money buying adapters that fail in less than a year with regular use. Or buy wireless headphones so you have even more things to charge with less sound quality. Will be looking for a 3rd party solution after having bought THREE of these that have failed since I purchased my phone less than a year ago.

I purchased the 3.5mm wired jack airpods from the Apple store by mistake not realising the new iPhones require the lightning jack input. I couldn’t be bothered sending my AirPods back to Apple in Australia so the Apple team recommended I pick one of these adapters up. Extremely happy with this purchase as I love my wired AirPods just fine and it’s great they are now compatible with my iPhone 11. Cons are this is a bit pricey for my liking but when it’s obvious you need it to get your best wired headphones to work with your phone then the extra cost seems minimal. I haven’t had any issues with this adapter so really stoked it’s quality is high as it’s Apple product, name says it all.

feel good to use a wired earphone after my beats solo is broken, but this price is a little bit ridiculous. I believe Apple used to give their customer this stuff after purchasing a new iPhone. Good job Apple, after you force us to use Bluetooth you keep forcing us to use wireless charging. Nice marketing strategy.

Apple should step up their game.

These things are easy to lose, can reduce the quality of good headphones, they don't always work with 3rd party mics, and they are cheaply made and fragile. Way too expensive for something you will have to buy multiple times a year. Apple should either reduce the price or upgrade the quality of these adaptors, or better yet, just add the headphone jack back to the phone itself! Bad choice on Apple's part, and even after all this backlash, they still haven't done anything to improve this. They're just trying to sell more of their other products by making bad choices and making cheap products.

But genuine. Save yourself any bother. Worth it.

Have purchased other non Apple branded 3.5 jack to lightning of eBay. Sometimes they work, some don’t at all or fail after a short period. Save yourself the bother and buy genuine.Works every time. No connection issues. Holds the headphone connection securely/tightly. The lightning connection will always remove before the headphones if accidentally pulled on, saving your head phone cords. No issues re sweat either.Used primarily for gym and hooking up audio system via 3.5 to iPhone.

Disappointing

I had bought this adapter for the second time on September 22 2020 after the first one broke. I thought this was just a fluke, but now I realize my third time around (November 29 2020)- it’s due to the poor quality of the product. The first time the adaptor itself broke. Most recently, plugging it into any brand of headphones causes sound to only come out of one side of the headphone bud (not a headphone issue). $10 doesn’t seem like a lot for Apple products but considering I have to purchase a new jack every couple of months, it’s well ridiculous. I wish iPhones where made to NOT require these jacks for regular headphones.

Does the job

Easy to use, plug and go, no issues, as you'd hope with a relatively simple piece of technology such as this. Price is acceptable given it's a pretty captive market. Many people have reported issues with durability - no problems for me so far, but I've only used it for a few hours and it does feel a little vulnerable so I am treating it with some degree of care. I wonder if they couldn't have just made a simple converter plug without the short wire that would be more durable? The other reason I've marked it down is it seems a bit cheap of Apple to not include this with their expensive phones - okay, sure, I guess the demand for them has significantly diminished, but maybe give a voucher for one for free if you need it.

They work great!

So far they're exaclty what I expected, I have not noticed any quality change from my previous phone. I'm using the Panasonic ErgoFit with Mic. The Mic, and Headphones for music/talking are working great. The buttons work for volume, and play/pause/answer.It feels a bit flimsy, but otherwise great.One very small thing..they occasionally crackle, which I never noticed before, but it's very slight and occasional, and not a reason to give a lower score.

Very Handy.

I was wondering why waste money on this adapter while I have earphones for both 3.5mm jack and lightning connector.But after I started using it, it feels comfortable. The joint between the adapter and the earphone is solid and it is a lot handy to have this adapter as it looks like a single accessory once connected.And there is no fear of loosing the adapter as it will either be plugged into the iPhone or to the earphone depending on what the earphone is used with.

Waste of my money

The adapter cable stopped working properly after 1 week of use by my daughter. Sound only comes from the Right ear piece now. One has to keep playing with the adapter plug to the iPhone to get sound to come from both ears. I wasted my money on this.
