The watch does what I need it to do. There is a learning curve on how to use it, as it is slightly different than iPhone and iPad functions. I have only used it about a week, so there is much to try out and learn. Pleasantly pleased; the speaker and microphone are great for phone calls.Upon delivery, I researched reviews and instructions. It does not appear it will dependably function well for lifeguard duties, being in shallow water for hours at a time in the sun. Operating limit is 95 degrees F, and an indication that the seals will deteriorate over time the more it is exposed to water. However, I have not tested it under those conditions, and it may prove quite functional. At least if I fall in the water or take a quick dip, the watch will not be immediately ... MoreThe watch does what I need it to do. I purchased the watch for my 11 yr old son. I didn't want him to have a phone yet but wanted to reach him and the Gitzmo watch we have is extremely limited. The phone service, texting and fitness features of the watch are wonderful. The one downside is the battery life. I had hoped he could take it camping and with little use it could last for at least an overnight trip but it couldn't even last the day. I had to purchase a portable charger so he could charge the watch each night.

If you're a parent and hesitant to get your child a smartphone, going this route is a nice tweener phase. I bought this for my 5th grader who can use this to stay connected to his parents. The watch is easier enough for him to learn. I had to teach him about the crown's functionality. He doesn't abuse it since there are no games. He doesn't go crazy with text messages. The phone works seamlessly since he has an Apple ID and other Apple devices. It's a good starter for kids on the precipice of joining the mobile world.

After much research and consideration as to how best to be able to communicate with our "tween age" son when he is away from home (he carpools with others to/from athletic practices out of town 4-5 days a week), we opted for the Apple Watch SE and activated it using Family Share so that there was no need for him to have his own smart phone at this time. Because of his age (and sometimes forgetfulness) we knew it would be best to have some sort of wearable that could stay on his body and not be left laying around somewhere. Also, having the watch set up with its own line via Family Share - I am able to control his contacts, but he is able to text/call the friends/family that I have allowed.I like that there is a "school time" option that can be set with a specific ... MoreAfter much research and consideration as to how best to be able to communicate with our "tween age" son when he is away from home (he carpools with others to/from athletic practices out of town 4-5 days a week), we opted for the Apple Watch SE and activated it using Family Share so that there was no need for him to have his own smart phone at this time. Also, having the watch set up with its own line via Family Share - I am able to control his contacts, but he is able to text/call the friends/family that I have allowed.I like that there is a "school time" option that can be set with a specific schedule so it turns on/off throughout the day based on the times we have entered - so if he is running at PE and I have that time set correctly - he will have access to workouts so he can track his activity. Should he have a need to reach myself or his father during "school time" he can disable it - BUT, it lets me know anytime "school time" has been disabled (what time and how long). I appreciate that I can use the Find My Phone option to see his location and can set it to send me a notification when he arrives/leaves certain places (ex swim practice after school). I also like that I am able to set him up to use his watch to pay by using Apple Cash. This allows me to give him specific amounts of money that he can use wherever Apple Pay is accepted or that he can send through messages to specific contacts (a friend or friend's parent) if they go somewhere that he needs to pay for food or something, BUT it does not allow him free access to my debit card or bank account (it also doesn't leave me with giving him cash that he may lose). His favorite part is the activity tracker. He likes being able to track his workouts and really likes that the pool workouts are even able to determine what strokes he is swimming. He and his best friend are both athletic and very competitive - this has been fun to watch, as her mom text me to let me know she was running in place while watching a movie one evening this week because he was "beating her" in activity for the day. I really like that this watch is available, affordable and that Family Share allows us to limit where limits are needed (NO SOCIAL MEDIA).
Let me start of by saying, this watch is way better than any smart watch ive had. The seamless connection with my phone is so awesome. Its got good audio on calls and its okay when it comes to text, only the swipe txt function. The workout tracker is great and i can do an hour long workout with gps on. And still last the rest of the day with regular usage. I end most days with around 45-50% battery so you may get almost two days out of it if you dont use the workout mode to much. Great watch and its built solid.
So I am a late adapter! I have had a Fitibit for the longest and have looked at the Apple Watch off and on. I work in an office where literally EVERYBODY has an Apple Watch. I was getting a serious case of wanting to be a cool kid. My birthday rolled around in January and my husband asked what I wanted. I said "Apple Watch!" He said "Let's go get you one!" I love my watch. I ordered extra bands off Amazon because I am one of those color coordinated people who changes the band to match my outfit all the time :) As a Gen-Xer I love tech, but I am probably only using a tenth of what this thing will do. I love the watch part of course, but being an on the go trainer and educator, I love that I can look down and see emails, texts, incoming calls, etc. The fitness aspect ... MoreSo I am a late adapter! Get the watch, you will love it!
while this iWatch has much the same features as my previous one, the face does not remain on and I must flick my wrist each time I want to read the face. Also, most disturbingly, this watch has given me a rash in 2 places where the metal touches my skin. This did not happen with my last watch so I can only believe there is a different metal that I am allergic too. I either wear the watch much less or have to wear a bandaid under it.Also very disconcerting, when waiting for Verizon to change my PIN number for over 1.5 hours and finally had to give up. I was told that there was only one person who could help. This during working hours during the week. Only 1 person for the size of the Verizon organization!! Not good!!!
My first Apple Watch and it’s not as intuitive as I would have expected from Apple…more functional than a Fitbit obviously but I’ll be darned if I can consistently navigate around it with confidence. And I’m a millennial so I do have some technological literacy ;). Hopefully just a learning curve issue. Wish it had pulse ox and ECG functionality (when I bought it I assumed they all had it, so that’s on me). Overall good watch and love being able to make calls from it. Wish I could listen to music/podcasts from it as well (maybe I can but haven’t figured it out yet? Only gives me the option to route it to an external device like my beats).
Trading in the Gizmo to the an apple watch is not really an upgrade. An apple device that can't support video chat and sending images. For an apple device it was rather confusing setup to get cellular working. I'm still not clear on getting to view your kids GPS location easily on my iphone. The Watch app is so weak and unreliable. The process through verizon was also confusing. I wasted a lot of time chatting with a "tech expert" who really is there to only try and upsell insurance. I would have settled for the pro and cons of the gizmo rather than upgrading to an apple watch if I could do this again.
First off, the device is awesome. I got the medium restored version and no one can tell that it’s not straight from the factory in china. Quality is top notch everything works and looks brand new for substantially less than the actual brand new one and I it has a 1 year warranty. My wife who won’t accept anything other than brand new didn't believe me when I said it was refurb, even tried to get mad at me for “lying” and for getting myself instead of upgrading hers and taking her old one. I think in my 26 years on earth I’ve left 3 reviews including this one. Only grievance is that it needed an update as soon as I turned it on but had it running the next morning. If you’re still reading this you should know I ordered it at 10 pm on a Friday and had it by noon on ... MoreFirst off, the device is awesome.
