I just got the Apple Watch and I like using it as a secondary cellular device: being able to see/feel/hear messages and phone calls come in while your phone is in your pocket or your phone is left at home. I also like that you can talk and send messages on the Apple Watch. The battery life is good when you use it for these things but when you use your Apple Watch for workout purposes or directions on maps, it depletes the battery relatively quick and you have to charge it again mid-day/evening.If you are an outdoors person and use your watch for hikes, workouts, directions, retracing your steps, etc and don’t care about being able to send messages back on your watch. First off this stupid Apple Watch Series 9 keeps locking while I am wearing it. I can literally enter the passcode, it unlocks then locks back up within one second. If I am in a workout when it locks on me it also stops tracking the workout. The workout app won’t even continue to run when it locks, you have to start the workout again. I tried to remove the passcode but if I do that it disables Apple Wallet, fall detection, crash detection and basically everything that you would want to have enabled.The battery life is pathetic. You can’t use it for sleep and during the day, you have to pick one or the other and even then the battery doesn’t last a full day.The Fitness app freezes constantly. HOWEVER, retailers such as Best Buy can sell the inventory they already have. I lucked out and got the last small Starlight GPS model with blood oxygen but the other colors likely still have it. So if that’s important to you, GET IT NOW! Don’t wait. Otherwise you’ll be hard pressed to find it, and likely will have to purchase a refurbished older model instead.

It also works great with security systems like Okta, allow you to use the watch as a second factor to approve logins to websites, etc. The watch also works great as a silent alarm clock, waking you with a silent vibration that's great for not disturbing your sleeping partner.Charging is easy through the included magnetic "dongle" and battery life is the best of any Apple Watch I've owned; about 1.5 to 2 days between charges.And lastly, one huge plus of the phone is Apple Pay and the Apple Wallet. It's so cool to be able to use it at tap pay terminals, and it's actually very secure as Apple generates a unique payment code for each transaction. And you can also use it for travel, loading your boarding pass code onto the watch and then using it at TSA check points and the gate. Very cool and almost like SciFi!In summary, if you're on the fence about getting an Apple Watch and are an iPhone user, just get it. They're awesome and once you learn how to use all of the features, you'll wonder how you ever did without it.

If you get used to it, you won’t even realize you’re wearing it anymore (that’s how I was able to bang it into things as mentioned in the previous paragraph). It does take some getting used to but I think it’s more to do with the psychology of it than the comfort. The only times I really end up taking it off are more about me not wanting my wrist to be constrained for a bit rather than the watch not being comfy. Mentally, it can feel a bit like an ankle monitor at times because I’ll feel compelled to keep it on for the health benefits it provides me instead of me just wanting to wear it. For some, that might end up being a dealbreaker as it breaks the illusion of breaking free from your phone but for me, it works fine.Also, it’s worth noting you can do all sorts of things on the watch, like texting. It’s not GREAT but it IS possible so PARENTS BEWARE. It can be used to text in class or cheat on tests and many schools have policies against smart watches (which is for the best). I wouldn’t advise this product for minors unless they’re athletes, probably. I think the telemetry would be really great for high school athletes but just ensure it stays off and away in the classroom. I had a first generation Apple Watch in high school and you bet I used that thing to text while I was in class.

She isn’t very tech-savvy so she doesn’t use it to its full capabilities but it still does far more than what her FitBit had to offer (she has an iPhone 13). I’m still considering getting an Apple Watch Ultra for myself even though i already have an Oura Ring. I got her the smaller 41mm because my mom is a small person. She uses reading glasses & has her iPhone set to the largest font, so I thought that getting her the smaller size might’ve been an issue, but the Apple Watch’s font gets just as big as her iPhones & she has no complaints !She’s also a RN, so comfort in general is key when you’re on your feet all day & she loves the band it came with. I tried cleaning the watch, a hard reset, unpairing and repairing and a different charger. Nothing.- The watch wasn’t very good at tracking exercise or sleep. I had many nights where it wouldn’t track my sleep at all and would also cut off my workouts. I am really after the fitness features so for me the watch wasn’t capable of tracking what I wanted.- I found the watch would freeze. I didn’t load the watch with anything like extra apps or music so it should have been able to handle normal applications already loaded on the watch.- Apple Fitness app is basic and doesn’t give you as good stats as other fitness watch apps do.I was hesitant to purchase an Apple Watch due to the poorer battery life but after not getting on with the Fitbit Versa 4 I thought I’d give it a try. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the best experience for me. Having read reviews online, it seems there are a few faults with the 9 Series and it’s not the most reliable watch. In terms of connectivity to other Apple products, you can’t beat it. However, the lack of decent battery life, the fact it now can’t charge at less than a month old and the fact it’s buggy doesn’t make it a good choice. It’s not cheap and I would have expected a better product from Apple. I am returning back to Garmin as for me it’s better value for money, much longer battery life and is more hard wearing.
