This is my first carbon running shoe. I bought these on the recommendation of my nephew and a colleague. The shoe is quite light. I really notice the carbon when I am running at speed. My first few steps took a bit to get used to the spring and forward loft. I quickly got accustomed to it. I have a few races coming up in the next few months. I will be wearing these for racing and on an occasional training run just to break them in. So far, so good.

I have about 100 miles on these. I had the Magic Speed 2s. The 3s are an upgrade in some regards, but in others I think Asics took a step back. The show overall is pretty good. The upper is way more comfortable than the Speed 2s. The Speed 3 upper feels like it is ready for race day. I don't get the pinching from the lashes like in the Speed 2s. However, I feel like the Speed 2s were faster. The ride in the Speed 3s is nice and smooth. I don't feel the assistance from the plate as much as I did in the Speed 2s. The Speed 2s were snappy and wanted to go faster and faster. The Speed 3s are good at settling in at a strong pace, but not really wanting to go like the 2s did. That is why I did 4 out of 5 stars. Great shoe. Dual layers of FF blast+ is amazing, paired with the carbon plate makes this a great budget racer as well as a shoe for intervals and tempo runs. Only complaint I have is it’s a little on the narrow side and definitely a race fit so if you’re not using as a race day shoe maybe go up half a size. I really like that the outsole in the heel was extended out more than the metaspeeds which is awesome, I’d really like for the same to happen in the next version of the metaspeed sky/edge to extend the life of the shoe. I feel like the midsole foam from the metaspeeds eats away very quick once it’s exposed, but that’s not the case for this shoe.Overall I think this is the update that everyone who did not like the 2 previous versions were hoping for. Great Job ASICS!

I started with the Speed 1 and have stayed with the shoe as it progressed along its evolutionary line. I've retired the Speed 1 but am still using the Speed 2 as a daily trainer for my tempo days and the Speed 3 I'm using for races 10 miler and under. I'm a 190lb. runner and IMO it's a great 5k shoe, light and responsive and the fit is fabulous. Living in Florida it can be hard to find shoes that stay cool, but this one fits the bill. I would purchase this shoe again were it not for wanting to roll into the Speed 4. Zero complaints and actually think the Speed 3 is a marked improvement above the 2. Definitely recommend.
The Magic speed has been one of my go-to-shoes since their first edition. They are light weighted, still they're cushioned, offers you stability and a nice bounce moving forward. They have a full-lenght carbon plate in the midsole which provides you with a little extra push. Compared to the previous models I find this one a little bit tighter in the front, maybe it would be better to go up half size. In my opinion these are great shoes for tempo runs both on the treadmill or on the road. They share a lot of the same features as several competitions shoes and are still at a more reasonable price. If you want to train and test your shoes properly before a race, this is a model that works for both purposes.
These are awesome shoes for running fast, but that's not all they're good for. These are great shoes if you're looking for a plated training option and could definitely slot into your daily rotation. I ran this morning in the old school GOAT in the fast daily category the Pegasus 35 turbo and then took these out for another run later in the afternoon. Love the light weight snappy feeling you get in these. The FF Blast+ foam is cushioned, but very responsive so this shoe was nice to run in at a fast pace and a slow to moderate pace as well. The Magic Speed 3 does a great job keeping your feet turning over and this is a great daily plated option for me. I'm a hybrid athlete and am 6ft and 210lbs for reference.
I've worn the ASICS Magic Speed shoes for my last 2 ironman events and REALLY rate them. No issues, no blisters and they are just so comfy. The Magic Speed 3 were comfortable from the start and felt very stable and well balanced. On roads and paths they feel fast, fast, fast and even on cobbled paths and trails they felt stable and comfortable. There was no 'wearing in' period and they were just great from the first time I wore them. The only downside I fgound is that they're so light that this is reflected in the material and youczn see your socks through the uppers ... so choose wisely! I thought I'd got my new shoes dirty on the first run wearing black socks underneath ... however despite the lightness they do feel strong and well-made.I also like how you can ... MoreI've worn the ASICS Magic Speed shoes for my last 2 ironman events and REALLY rate them. Perfect! All rounder but makes me jealous to wear it all the time but if i had my way i would.i dont really know how to describe but the first three words that come to mind are responsive, Very stable and Comfortable.i have done a couple of track sessions in the magic speed and the support it gives my foot and stride is out of this world, i could go in it forever. great shoe to do tempo runs and a fast half marathon i would even take it as far as a marathon. I mostly recommend it for slow runners like myself when going for 5:30min per km on a tempo run or race.
What u first noticed when I got to lay my hands on a pair of magic speed was how ultra light they were. I use these shoes for heavy interval sessions and will use it during Göteborgsvarvet. A carbon plate is always a fun idea and you really get a lot of energy back. I’m so excited to see how fast I can go with this shoe this summer and it makes me look forward to more races and heavy training sessions. It is a bit small in the size so if you’re choosing between two sizes I’d recommend you to choose the bigger one. This is common along race shoes because most people want it very tight when it really matters! Buy this shoe, and have a lot of fun!!
I'm shocked that reviews are mostly saying this is true to size. I find this to be the smallest Asics shoe I have ever purchased. I have always worn an 8.5 in Asics and it has been perfect. This feel like at least half a size too small. It has great cushioning, but sort of strange support. The outer heal of the shoe has a strange slant that is pretty pronounced that i mostly notice if i'm walking but not so much running.
