I have 3 versions of the gel Nimbus ASICS. This pair in the picture is my favorite itâs the Nimbus 21-Lite Show. They are colorful and reflective. I work long 12+ hour shifts at a veterinary ER and I am always on my feet. These are my favorite shoes for work, running and everyday wear! I love that you can pick the shoe recommended based on your specific pronation! These shoes are aesthetically adorable to me and they withstand wear and tear for a long time.

I never knew new about the importance of studying your feet and wearing shoes that are made especially for your feet. After dragging myself for almost a week, at seven months pregnant I looked endlessly for a store that would cater to my needs. I have very flat feet and carry a lot of weight on me and I reached a point where I couldn't even get out of the couch. Thankfully I found Road Runner Sports and was assisted in the best way possible. I had purchased one set of shoes which I returned with the 90 Day return policy and I found these shoes which had been released three days before. I love them! The white part on the bottom helps stabilize me and maintain a straighter stand and walk. I am very happy with this shoe. I enjoy the black and white colors and even if I didn't' care for the colors I wouldn't lower my rating. I hope you don't either. I have used the shoes without the RRS insoles and there is a slight difference in the way I stand and walk; however, if you do not suffer from flat feet like I do, you have a choice of wearing these shoes with the insoles the shoe comes with. I personally prefer the RRS insoles which help me balance.

I purchased my Asics gel-nimbus 21 approximately one month ago after asking my Google Home, "What running shoes are best for those with shin splints?" Asics gel-nimbus 20 was one of the answers. Therefore, I elected to purchase a pair of the newer version (21) from Shoebacca online. Finding the shoes and navigating the website was easy. The price (on sale) was great. I ordered 8.5, which is the correct size. However, I probably should have ordered 8.5 wide as my pair fits snug over my mid-foot. The fore-foot portion fits just fine (surrounding my toes). Anyhow, I've walked and jogged about 50 miles (3 miles/ workout x 16 different days). They did help some with my shin splints. Perhaps I'll have to dorsi and plantar flex my foot/ankle more before jogging to eliminate my shin splints altogether. I consider myself to have a normal arch (no pes planus or pes cavus), but I have suffered from plantar fasciitis in the past. These shoes are great in that I've not experienced calcaneal or arch pain. Overall, I give them a 4/5 as I cannot blame shin splints of running shoes. Shoebacca as a company is OUTSTANDING.

This is my second pair of Asics Gel Nimbus. New runner, I have been running for about 3 yrs now, mostly on pavement (hard surface). Average about 10-15 mi/wk. I love this shoe. I am a neutral pronater. Very well cushioned, great for my shins. Toe box is wider than the Nimbus 20 which I had tried at the store before. Wide shoes are too wide for me, but medium shoes are not quite enough in toe space. These medium width shoes work great for me. So far about 250 miles on my 1st pair. Probably need a new pair sometime in the near future, hence this purchase so I can switch when these are done. Happy with the life of the shoe. Soles are a bit worn, but the rest of the shoe has held up very well (includes running in the winter). No comments on if the size runs small, ... MoreThis is my second pair of Asics Gel Nimbus. So, if you are looking for a neutral shoe, excellent cushioning for running on hard surfaces and are somewhere in between a medium and wide width shoe, look no further.
I have used ASICS gel products since high school track which has been roughly 28 years ago. I have been walking 6 miles for the last three years on and off. I always walk during the summer months into fall outside. I enjoy the fast paced walking and I do it for preventative health. I have a kidney disease and I am trying to keep myself from developing other ailments that run in my family. Coincidentally my father also walks 6 miles a day and uses ASICS as well. This summer I decided to try Brooks for the first time. They did not last for me with the daily wear and tear. I went back to ASICS and decided to try the Nimbus and love the look and feel of the shoe. I donât know what has happened though. My heels have been rubbed completely free of skin with this pair. I went back to ASICS and decided to try the Nimbus and love the look and feel of the shoe. I donât know what has happened though. My heels have been rubbed completely free of skin with this pair. I actually have blood in the back of my shoes from this. I am truly upset because I have trusted ASICS most of my life and donât understand what happened here. I have had to take a week off of walking to allow them to heal. This summer has been a wreck for shoes. Three pairs in one summer and I am bummed. I donât know what to do now because the ASICS Nimbus 21 are new and comfortable outside of the heal issue. They are not cheap shoes and I feel let down from a brand I have trusted. What happened ASICS?
I've owned a number of pairs of the Nimbus lineup, simply because of the comfort- but specifically for the supination correction that's inherent to the shoe design. This shoe is excellent- especially now, since I injured my Achilles tendon (now have tendinitis...great) and thankfully, with the heel to toe drop, the show alleviates the stress on the tendon for healing.I will only add that- with the supination correction that the shoe provides, the designers/engineers of the product should allow this correction to follow through the entire shoe, all the way to to the forefront of the foot. When walking in the shoe, it feels like the distal part of the foot kind of leans over to the distal side- meaning that there is a lack of support there too (just minimal support ... MoreI've owned a number of pairs of the Nimbus lineup, simply because of the comfort- but specifically for the supination correction that's inherent to the shoe design. When walking in the shoe, it feels like the distal part of the foot kind of leans over to the distal side- meaning that there is a lack of support there too (just minimal support needed there to fully keep foot in line).I had tried on both this shoe, the Nimbus 20 and the Brooks Ghost 11's and this Asics shoe was was easily the winner for me.Use cases-Walking fast (with the dog) These shoes, while they somewhat propel you forward due to the drop from heel/toe, are still suitable for walking around- although I walk faster than 90% of the planet!-RunningBe sure to pick up breathable good socks too-The R Gear, Super Breathable, Medium Cushion are excellent (the thin is great too). I wear an 11 shoe and the sock runs a tad bit large, so get the L (not XL) if your size 11ish or the rear of sock will be dandling a bit on your heel)
I have had my Asics Nimbus 21s for two months now and definitely worn them in with approx 120 miles covered. I am a high mileage and heavier (13 stone) runner. The trainers have a plush feel in terms of fit but also feel like they cushion every step on the pavement.Iâve been running in ASICS for the last few years due to liking the fit. They are not the cheapest but as some car manufacturer used to say they are âreassuringly expensiveâ! You tend to get what you pay for and these are some of the best you can buy! Iâve had the Cumulus model in the past but the Nimbus have more cushioning and, in my opinion, worth the little more you pay.It is important to understand if you require support or not. If you are a neutral runner (your foot doesnât pronate) then these are ideal. The Kayano model are the ones for you if support is required. If serious about racing then youâll probably want something lighter For race day (DS Trainer) but the ideal would be have race trainers and then train in Nimbus which offer the very best cushioning for churning out the training miles.I believe ASICS say the shoes should look to be replaced around 500 miles... Iâve gone over this in the past without issue. If you donât wear for anything other than running then they will easy do 500 miles. My favourite training shoes by some.
I always thought you needed a proper racing shoe to run fast, like the Gel-Noosa FF2 of the Gel-451. The new Gel-Nimbus 21 proved me wrong quickly. Running mostly on the trails, I usually keep my road workouts short and fast (think 5-10kmâs at about 3:30-3:45min/km pace, or some intervals), so with a first glance at the new Nimbus 21âs I thought âwow that looks heavy/slowâ. But when I put them onâŠsurprise!Being classified as a long-distance shoe or perfect marathon trainer, I thought it would be perfect for some slower long-distance runs. On the first run with them I did an easy pace 10km. Afterwards decided to pick up the tempo: the 1st km-3:22, the 2nd km-3:25, the shoes felt good, they felt really good. I ended up running my 5km PB in them (17:15), and thatâs ... MoreI always thought you needed a proper racing shoe to run fast, like the Gel-Noosa FF2 of the Gel-451. I ended up running my 5km PB in them (17:15), and thatâs when I knew this isnât just a shoe, this is a new generation piece of technology. After a few kilometers in them I realized that with the 10 mm heel drop and the new FlyteFoam Propel cushioning technology these shoes were designed for comfort as well, which makes sense as they are designed for longer distances and to protect you as runner, and to make your marathon or long training run as comfortable as possible. Compared to the previous model, I felt that they provide a larger toe-box and the mesh upper is a lot more breathable. At first, I thought that the sole on the forefoot felt a bit harder than the previous model, but I felt that this gave much better response after I made contact with the ground, resulting in faster acceleration as well keeping the running form good for a longer distance.Having only done 80km in them, I canât comment on its durability. From experience of the previous Nimbus range I know that this shoe is made and designed to be super durable. If this one lives up the durability expectation of its predecessors, it is really the ultimate trainer! To conclude, this is a trainer designed for marathon distance running and training and is thus not the lightest shoe, but donât let the weight fool you. With the new technology the shoe is super responsive and can even be used for tempo runs, not just long-distance training. So, if youâre looking to buy your new go-to trainer, the new Nimbus 21 will give you a super responsive and comfortable ride. Enjoy it!
As a ASICS FRONTRUNNER I received ASICS Nimbus 21 few weeks after release. I have been doing my long runs with ASICS Cumulus 20. With perfect cushioning on the shoes i find it much more easier crossing the 30km barrier on my mostly solo runs. I love the Flyte Propel technology on the shoes, my legs always have a bouncy shalfling from start to finish. Nimbus 21 outlook has confusing bulky look which makes shoes seam havier. Once you where the shoes there are quite wide feet which is a good space for feet to breath. Also with hot weathers hear in Johannesburg my feet get swollen which Nimbus 21 wide feet plays important role. The new lateral full-ground contact outsole design offers a smoother ride, from heel strike to toe-off.I love the gel cushioning, as a shock ... MoreAs a ASICS FRONTRUNNER I received ASICS Nimbus 21 few weeks after release. I'm 185-190 lbs runner with a neutral stride. I've been running for 40 years and know what I like in shoes. I used to run in Asics GEL-Nimbus 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 and then moved on as the later generations became progressively clunky, heavier, and more a rear heel striker shoe.Despite the less than stellar reviews for the GEL-Nimbus 21, I thought I would give them a try as I was tiring of the Adidas Ultra PowerBoost line of shoes I had been running in for the last few years. I'm glad I tried these out and will order several more pairs to hoard as I usually do when I find "keepers".I like that the shoe has returned to a lighter feel and while they still provide ample cushioning, they don't feel overly cushy, provide a smidgen of road feel and support (unlike the ... MoreI'm 185-190 lbs runner with a neutral stride. Admittedly I do run with aftermarket insoles, but I do that with all my shoes. For me these shoes just feel right and bring back the feel that I recall from the earlier Nimbus line.
