Will contact Asrock and see if they can solve the issue or else I'm returning asap, so far a disappointment and a waste of my time and effort, I expected better from Newegg. Furthermore I but a case, a seasonic powersupply and ddr4 team force rams , only the case is functional, the power supply wouldn't even power on, the ram lights up but is not recognized by motherboard (Asus crosshair Hero VI) which should be compatible with the latest bios update which I had. So 3 out of 4 items are defective. That is just a massive letdown and knowing I'd have to go through the hassle of returning all the parts and recieving all the replacements is a drag. Was really looking forward to finishing my build but Unfortunately I can't.

When I first got started, I knew nothing about computers, outside the most basic of basic. So when it came to choosing a board, it seemed like the X-470 boards seemed to offer something special the B-450 did not, even though I had no idea what it may be lol. Once I started building for friends who were on more of a budget, I started going with the ASRock B-450 Pro boards, which offer outstanding value, and immediately just liked the BIOs a lot more than what was supposed to be the much superior one offered by Asus. I'd also realized that none of what the X-470 chipset seemed to offer was worth the jump in price compared to the 450 for my needs. So when I started to look into parts for my own build, this was the easiest decision. I personally love the design of this. Everything from the RGB, the VRMs, heatsinks etc just look better to me on this board. This still allows me to do all the OC I care to do (not much besides enabling XMP and slightly boost clock speeds), easily in the BIOs, I was able to boot from my NVMe, and again, I just like the layout more than Asus's. The only thing I give credit to Asus for is their software to control system stats/OC once you're booted into Windows does have more capability, looks better etc. But unless you're someone who's constantly tweeking all that, it doesn't matter. I haven't opened that software since the first day, when I opened it just to see lol. Everything runs just as stable and cool on this board, and in my opinion, it looks much better. So, until I come across some issue, ASRock has pretty much got me as a customer.

Nice board. Windows booted and recognized everything without any intervention from me. My only setup issue was, there are two M2 slots on the board. I'd never dealt with a M2 SSD before, so maybe this is common knowledge, but the description on both slots in the manual is kind of ambiguous and made it sound like either a PCIe or a SATA could go in either slot. Turns out slot 1 is PCIe and slot 2 is SATA and I tried to put my SATA drive in the wrong slot and it wasn't recognized. Moving my SSD to slot 2 fixed the issue. Only the PCIe M2 has the "M2 Armor" heatsink thingy. The SATA M2 slot does not... so, if you're concerned with the look of your SSD being just out there in the open or you feel you really need a heatsink on your SSD... go with a PCIe SSD. I had corsair vengance DIMMs and they're not even that tall but they still So, I had to mount my cooler with the logo away from the slots but I could see this being a problem if you have a larger cooler. My other other annoyance is the SATA headers are mounted horizontally right along the front edge of the board where, depending on your case, the drive bays would be located. This makes it a little cramped getting your fingers in there to plug in the cables. There's also these aluminum hook shaped heatsink looking things.. I'm not sure what they are for, maybe cable management (I tucked my cooler fan cable under there :) ) But the top one is right on the edge of the board and I was concerned it would bump into the top fan on my case.. but it just fit... so, something to consider, maybe if you've got a thick fan.
I've been using Gigabyte motherboards for over a decade now, and the Wraith Spire cooler that came with my Ryzen 1700 would not allow color cycling. It robbed me of my time trying to figure it out, but there was no solution to it. This is the first ASRock motherboard I have purchased, and I am happy that the product works with all my RGB components. I am currently using it in a Thermaltake V200 RGB Edition, which syncs with my Wraith Spire. My XPG Spectrix D60G memory syncs well with the RGB lighting on the motherboard RGB shields. If only it were possible to post videos. Unfortunately the Polychrome software does not work in Windows 10 version 20H2, but I'm okay with it, because at least I can configure the RGB in the UEFI BIOS.
So far, I have been using this b450 board in my new rig for about a month. It has been holding up perfectly fine. The rgb lights aren’t necessary, but they don’t impact performance at all. The one issue I am having is with audio, specifically microphone input. Sometimes it just doesn’t pick up my voice when I talk, but I have decided to bypass that issue and order a USB condenser microphone so that the mic audio isn’t being directed through the onboard audio chipset. Since the board works great for everything except my microphone audio, I can definitely recommend this product, since I feel that this issue is most likely uncommon.
-i did a decent amount of research for my first build and decided on this board and man I am happy I did. It was straight forward to wire up, has more than enough connections for anything I wanted now and in the future. Lots of pretty rgb controls and just worked out if the box with my ryzen 5 3400g. And it will be able to upgrade to the 5000 series down the road. What a steal of a board at this price, both in looks and functionality. Definitely will continue giving my service to these guys, well done!
I feel the Steel and at 140ish on a sale some would say it is a steal ;) It working first go. I can't complain. I removed the Hd bracket located underneath, gave more room for wires, and I use SSD anyways. The amount of pcie slots also adds some future possibility as well which I really enjoy the idea of but have not tested. So that's to come.
This board is fine if your going to leave things near to on base clocks for your components, it cant handle much more than a 6 core 12 thread. The rgb is nice but its not really worth it for the performance decrease, i dont know if its just my board or not but the dimm slots wont let me use more than one kit of 16 gb 3200 mhz .. whenever i tried i kept getting boot looped unless it was in 2133 mhz and who wants that like come on especially for ryzen.Maybe i got a bad dimm slot but im not going to check im just going to upgrade it after ddr5 comes out, so i guess im stuck with 16 gb for now. Ive tried unplugging them and the board still does the same thing .. even from boot without windows loaded. How disappointing i do not think it was the strips that caused it to be honest. Im going to try and reinstall the bios or take out the battery but i highly doubt it will do much for this. Sorry asrock but ill be taking one egg off if it doesnt work faulty rgb is not cool.
I've had this board for about 2 years now. The whole not being able to use the SATA ports on the board while using BOTH M.2 slots is not a deal breaker by any means, just annoying. however, Overall I've had not one issue! i have been very pleased! like i said, it also look GREAT in an all white build. Totally worth the money if you can snag one they are in stock.
