When it works the sound is wide and detailed, but it sounds like the top end is muted. There is no treble sharpness and no amount of EQ adjustment works. Unfortunately it also seems to be choosy with WI-FI strength and will not play above an RSSI of 66. Very disappointing.

Upgraded from my AK70 MKii because of improved UI, DAC (now quad), larger HD screen. I was a little worried about the previous quirks that AK players can have. So far I've founded it to be complete everything with ease. Only negative is that the Bluetooth doesn't seem to have improved but this could be my headphones. Snappy UI. Killer feature is the suggestions at random from loading up the player. Discovers and quickly allows you to put your music on. The sound also is a definite step up. Music sounds more realistic. Finally, anyone upgrading an AK70 MKii or earlier will see a significant improvement in battery life. Also, support for streaming services and offline download of tracks.
Fantastic sounding, very compact DAP. Definitely need to buy the case, so one should account for that too. The option to choose between quad/dual DACs is genuinely discernable, however the four different filters are really splitting hairs sonically to me. The 4.4-mm balanced jack is certainly the best way to go and drives my Sivga SV023 300Ω headphones beautifully. Will see how the battery life holds up when I travel overseas.
I bought the SR35 to replace an ipod touch and Audioquest Dragonfly Red. I was happy with this combination, but always found the cable connection between the two slightly awkward. Even though the SR35 is much more expensive than my previous setup, it has still wowed me. I have a relatively costly hifi setup at home and the SR35 matches it effortlessly. The sound this player produces is stunning and has had me listening to my music at every opportunity. Build quality is solid as a rock and battery life is excellent. The only downside I have been able to find is that there is no option to shuffle all songs, only the song order on an album. Value for money with battery lifeif you want more base then this is the DAP you want.the angles display looks really different and awesome.you get two screen guard for the display and the back which is a life saver for people like me.pair it with a really good IEM and you are good to go for another 4-5 years.
