Big upgrade from RTX 2060!

I've been using a 2060 for more than 3 years and I finally felt like I needed to upgrade. I was thinking of upgrading to a 3070, but with the announcement of the 4070 I decided to go with something in the current generation. One of the purchasing factors for me was the 8-pin power connector as well as the 200 watt power draw of the 4070. I really like the design of the ASUS 4070 Dual. It's very modern and streamlined in a small form factor. It will definitely fit in a small case while keeping thermals low. Overall, I've been super happy with my 4070! It can handle everything I throw at it and more!

Easy upgrade, decent price, great graphics

This card replaced an RTX 2070. It is larger, requiring some rearrangement of real estate in the case, but I was able to use the same power supply and power connectors because the new card is more power efficient. Bottom line: it was an easy upgrade for +138% graphics performance. The games I used to run on minimal graphics with the GPU at 100% can now run at maximum graphics with the GPU at 80%. This was the exact convergence of price, performance, and ease of upgrade I was looking for. Definitely worth considering.

I replaced a GTX 1080 and this card has fantastic performance on a 1440P ultrawide screen. Can Max out settings one everything less using RTX. Im not a fan of DLSS and upscaling from what I saw, things look great without RTX and with it the performance hit is too greate, if you use DLSS you will see a substantial decrease in image quality and fine detail so I would rather run ultra without RTX in the native resolution. Keep in mind this may not be the case for all titles but reviews I read said the same that you can tell the difference I certainly could. I prefer max detail at full resolution with no short cuts. RTX is still too intensive without DLSS and that feature detracts too much from the quality and enjoyment. I prefer crisper details to fuzzy upscale. ... MoreI replaced a GTX 1080 and this card has fantastic performance on a 1440P ultrawide screen. Can Max out settings one everything less using RTX. Between selling my old GPU card and the bonus Microcenter had with this card I now have the performance I wanted in 1440UW for about 300 for the upgrade. I expect this card to last me for 5+ years as I do not plan on going to higher resolutions after this. Outstanding card and Microcenter is the best place to get one hands down.

Good card if you can get a good price.
14 May 2023

The card itself is well built, looks good, runs cool and quiet. The performance is around RTX 3080 or 6800XT level, but with incredible power efficiency. I don’t love that it only has 12GB of vram and a smaller bus width, but at 1440p with DLSS, (skip ray tracing for now it’s too costly) it should still last a few years.I was able to get this with a $100 steam gift card promo from Microcenter. For $500 it’s a great deal. At $600, if you need a card today, it’s still one of the best price to performance deals you’ll find.

Great card and great delivery
20 May 2023

Amazing cars, almost quiet. I upgraded from rtx 2060 a and I can tell that I am getting double the performance. The cars is even shorter than 2060s, which made it easy to fit into my small form factor case (lian LI H20), be beware that is a thick card. I had to change the riser stand outs and remove the HDD from inside the case to adjust to its size. But in the end it works smoothly.I understand that the power consumption hovers around 180 watt, which great for my case. My room has no air conditioning and I don't want to opt for AMD card like 6950xt as it is way hotter card. Unless you don't care about ray tracing or DLSS, you should really consider this card. The delivery was on time and in fact came early in the morning.

Great card for undervolting
4 June 2023

Very happy with the card. I did have a discount code and the included free D4 game which sweetened the deal, but it is still a good card due to its performance which is similar to a 3080 if you're running a card that is at least 2 generations old.The wattage is amazing, especially with electricity costs where I live. Stock, the card can boost up to 2775MHz and uses as much as 190W of power, which is far less than the 3080's 320W.Undervolting the card made this even better. Capping the clock at 2610 it was able to run stable at 0.91V. I was using no more than 120W of power. In terms of clock speed, its about 6% less, but at the savings of 70W of power!

In line with expectations
26 May 2023

One of the few cards out there that actually provides an evolutionary boost over its previous generation. The 4070 offers 3080 level performance or better, with more VRAM and lower power, at a lower price. Many still consider this card expensive, but consider that newly released lower end cards are intentionally hamstrung and provide almost ZERO uplift compared to their previous generation. At least NVIDIA didn't screw this one up, even if it is a bit overpriced by 2019 standards (almost EVERYTHING is more expensive these days!).

Larger than necessary.
18 May 2023

It's a 4070. Pretty much does exactly what the other 4070s all do. Overclock doesn't add up to much, it never does.Pros:- Uses a regular 8pin power connector, as it should. Shame on other connectors.- Fans make only a whooshing noise, no bearing noise or electronic noise.Cons:- Far larger than it needs to be. A 4070 does not make much heat. This cooling system is overkill.- Asus DUAL used to mean smaller. This is in fact larger than the founders edition.

Very lightweight card. Fans under load are pretty quiet. Small footprint and only requires a single 8-pin connector. Without touching the stock fan profile the GPU temp hovers around 61-63c under load, and the hotspot temp around 70-72c. It uses the same pcb as the ASUS TUF 4070, except the TUF has 10 power phases and this one has 8. The fans are ball bearings so they should last.My particular card has a decent amount of coil whine under load. I can hear it with the case closed and under my desk. I've tried two different power supplies both of which were Seasonic make with a platinum and gold efficiency of 1000w, and it didn't make a difference in the buzzing. So keep that in mind if that sort of thing bothers you. YMMV.

The 4070 being overpriced isn't something Asus can control, so that is not being factored into this review.
