Excellent keyboard, solid feel on keys

This is overall an excellent keyboard. I use it primarily for office productivity and web work. The keys are excellent, feel solid, with great tactile feedback, and lite to moderate sound. The overall keyboard is well built, solid and heavy. O the connection options the wired works well, as does the included USB dongle. I have not tried bluetooth so no comment on that. The only real challenge is with the sw - Armory Crate can use more refinement; if you have that already installed (say you have an ASUS mobo) you have to remove it first, install the version for the keyboard, upgrade the firmware, and then re-install Armoury Crate - and keyboard will be recognized. Like I said, needs improvement. But the keyboard works well, if a bit expensive.

If your a keyboard enthusiast who enjoys building and and customizing keyboards, but want something with ROG styling and access to the Aurora Crate software integration, this keyboard might very well be for you. Like the original Azoth, the extreme edition provides users with the ability to disassemble the deck down to the silicon, swap out damping layers and change out keys and stabilizers to your liking. The biggest selling features of this keyboard include:1) The build quality on everything is superb... like to the last fit and finish this keyboard is just perfection on the fit and finish. The entire case is metal, the OLED is in color and all elements of the keyboard (yes even the silicon layer) is ROG branded.2) Because its a ROG keyboard, the keyboard is pre-programed and 100% customizable within the ASUS Armory Crate software. Plug and play with the ability to customize and integrate with all the other elements of your PC without the hassle of having to program everything yourself (that may be a con for some enthusiasts who prefer customizing both the hardware and software)3) The typing experience really is amazing. In addition to coming with great switches out of the box, everything is hot swap, so you can change the keys for something else of choice. However, if your like me and prefer a solid typing experience, ASUS has built in typing damper.. on the bottom of the keyboard you can flick a switch and it will lock the layers in tight for a nice firm typing experience. However, if you flip it the other way, it releases the layers and allows for a softer typing experience. Of course, you can also modify this experience as you see fit by adding or removing layers within the keyboard. Now all of this sounds great, however, there is a catch! This keyboard is by far one of the most expensive keyboards on the market. Determining if you want to spend this money on a keyboard comes down to a) if you have disposable income and can justify spending $700 CAD on a keyboard, and b) if you desire the best of the best without having to invest a ton of time building and customizing your keyboard deck.Happy gaming!

Great Concept, Lacking One Major Feature

I gotta say, I'm almost a week into owning this keyboard I paid for with money given to me for my birthday : ), and it's been a rocky start. The overall feel and responsiveness of the switches on this keyboard is amazing(NX Snow). I like the idea of the omni receiver, however, I've only had need of it for my keyboard. I might add a mouse to it down the road. I also like the 96% layout. The reason I'm disappointed in selecting this keyboard is the lack of support to use Asus' Aura Creator for custom lighting of the keyboard's RGB. There is no support. When you go to Asus' Aura Creator website, the ROG Strix Scope II 96 Wireless is missing from the list of compatible keyboards. When you go to Asus' Aura Creator website, the ROG Strix Scope II 96 Wireless is missing from the list of compatible keyboards. I'm coming from using an OLD Corsair K70 keyboard where I could EASILY assign lighting profiles that matched the layout of keys I use in many of my games. With this $150+ keyboard, there is no way for me to highlight those keys. Instead, I'm stuck with the default lighting we get from Armoury Crate. That's not enough considering how much is invested in purchasing this product. And yes, I have followed many of the other frustrated RSSII96W owners in ASUS' forums suggestions, like changing the Window's 11 Dynamic Lighting settings. Aura Creator still doesn't work and it doesn't look like this company is interested in fixing it considering postings for this issue go back almost a year ago. All this being said, IF ASUS would fix my biggest complaint, I would gladly change my score to 5 stars. IF.

Not just for gamers

I am not a huge gamer; I mostly use my keyboards for word processing and operating complex software like DAWs. I p[reviously had a SteelSeries RGB keyboard that I really liked. It was great for typing and everything else I needed it for. It lasted about 5 years before the keys started becoming erratic, which is very respectable. I was extremely satisfied with the SteelSeries, and don't wish to be understood as criticizing it. However, the XA07 is undeniably better. When my prior keyboard began to malfunction, I researched all the present alternatives and chose the XA07. I was already a big fan of Asus motherboards and laptops, but had never used one of their peripherals before. This keyboard is expensive but WORTH the money. Everything about the XA07 is so sturdy one feels that one could throw it against a wall without damaging it a bit. The typing keys feel very solid, responsive, and reliable. The control keys and switches are heavy-duty and well arranged. It is a great feeling to know that if there is a typo or an errant keystroke, the cause is user error rather than flaws in the keyboard. OF COURSE I don't need RGB lighting, but it's fun and relieves boredom.

Number pad wont work unless atatched to keyboard
27 April 2024

This is a great keyboard, has real nice colours and the keys are quite light to press and they sound great when pressed. The wireless seems to work flawlessly aswell HOWEVER my only gripe is the numberpad isnt wireless. It HAS to be connected to the keyboard on either the left or right side. Which isnt mentioned anuwhere in any ads for this keyboard. I bought it thinking i could seperate the number pad and use it for my left hand to game with and have it SEPERATED from the keyboard. But you cannot do that. It has to be atatched to the keyboard. If ASUS/ROG could make it fully wireless or even have a usb slot it can pair to the keyboard with on the top of the num pad so you can have it completely seperated and use it that would be epic.

ROG Strix Scope II 96 Wireless and ROG product.
12 June 2024

I like the design, the aura led light and overall look but the price a bit on the high side. ROG gives quite a number of accessories which i am happy about it. With that kind of price, it would be better come with a plastic cover on the top of keypad to prevent dust collection. The packaging also super and giving that kind of feeling high-end product. The connection is fast and stable without any lagging or loss connection. Portable to carry around and connect to other devices. Hope Asus (ROG) keep up the good work and maintain their product quality for many years to come. Of course, must come out with innovative products to secure it name "ROG". Nevertheless, price also a must to be consider also especially so many competitors on the market.

Small but effective.

As someone who had never used a mechanical keyboard before, this feels like quite the leap. It feels so nice. My previous keyboard was a full size board, so the change from that to this smaller 75% board is taking some getting used to.It's very compact, but also quite heavy. I love that you can use this in either wireless, bluetooth or wired modes and, while I haven't tried it, I believe it allows the ability to effectively connect 5 different devices (3 via bluetooth, one for wireless and one wired) and swapping between modes with the switch on the back. The 2.4Ghz wireless dongle in the back of the keyboard was a little bit tricky to remove with my big fingers and no ridges or even dimples made it hard to get a good grip on it with fingernails. The OLED screen ... MoreAs someone who had never used a mechanical keyboard before, this feels like quite the leap. The 2.4Ghz wireless dongle in the back of the keyboard was a little bit tricky to remove with my big fingers and no ridges or even dimples made it hard to get a good grip on it with fingernails. The OLED screen is a great touch, though I'm not sure how much I will actually use it for anything other than having a gif playing on it. Speaking of gifs: The pixel area is something small, like 260x56px, so finding gifs that will fit onto the screen properly is difficult and you will most likely be cropping them and hoping the best parts fit in the rectangle field. The Armoury Crate software makes it super easy to preview and change the images, though, and has a few default animations to choose from. I would like to see ROG perhaps add more animations that are made to fit into the OLED screen field in the future. The screen is also black and white. Images and animations do look great on the screen, however I would have preferred a colour screen, or at least the option to switch it between black and white or colour if this was an aesthetics choice by ASUS. And while we're on the topic of colour, the LED lighting is nice and bright with quite a few options to choose from in the software to customise to your liking. The ability to sync the lighting to other compatible devices is something I will probably be looking forward to utilising in the future, too.Being fully customisable is probably the main attraction of the keyboard. The package comes with a full station equipped with tools for removing keycaps and switches, as well as a few spare switches to practice taking apart and putting back together, or adding extra lube, with the tools provided in the box. Whilst I don't think I will be swapping out or modifying this board soon, as I'm enjoying it as it is. it is great that the option is there should I want to venture into the world of keyboard modifying and I'm sure it's one that the hardcore enthusiasts out there will appreciate.Overall the keyboard feels great, it looks great, the keycaps feel slightly textured and not as slippery as some other keyboards I've used and the lights are bright and clear and typing feels like a much nicer experience than what I've been used to with membrane keyboards in the past. I would certainly recommend this keyboard to other people. It's a great little unit.
