The ASUS ROG Strix scar is a gaming laptop that performs like 3038 without any problems. It doesn't make much noise and has constant updates. With the processor cores it has, I open around 400 tabs full of videos in the browser and it works without any problems. There are constant updates from ASUS. The wifi doesn't interrupt and walls are not a problem for it. The sound is clear and you can even use your phone as a webcam with the ASUS app without installing any other program. It has battery protection that keeps it at 60% and I never disconnect my charger, I use it all day. The ventilation works perfectly and I have never had any problems. It comes with integrated noise cancellation Al ideal for virtual meetings. The keyboard can be completely customized for each key

So, I originally wanted the Asus ROG Zephyrus Duo but after weeks of it being on backorder everywhere, I decided to settle on the Strix Scar for an upcoming trip. I watched a few reviews on this product and others from MSI, Auros, Razer, and others. I choose this over others for three main reasons: ryzen 9 series chip, qhd 165 Hz screen and upgradability. To say the least, this product does not disappoint. It is fast, the screen is beautiful and I've already upgraded it to 64Gb of memory and an additional 1TB nvme drive. I will upgrade to wifi chip 6e when I feel it will benefit me. I will say that though this laptop is amazing, it isn't perfect but before I get to that I would like to say I was pleasantly surprised with how amazing the keyboard was. It is clickly, ... It is clickly, so if you want or need silence, this isn't the one for you but the travel and feel are perfect. So good that I got rid of my desktop keyboard in favor of one similar to this. Now to what doesn't make this laptop perfect and I know this opinion doesn't apply to everyone but it matters to me. First, it doesn't have a mux switch, not something that is a big deal to me but most laptops in 2021 have it so this one should as well. Also, there is no fingerprint reader. I'm sorry but if cellphones have been doing it for the past 5 years, every laptop should have it. It just makes it easier to log into your laptop and very secure. The other issue I have is it's a fingerprint magnet. My hands are usually dry but for some reason, this laptop picks up every little touch. And lastly, it doesn't have a webcam. Now for me, I prefer using my mirrorless camera to stream or for conference calls because of the quality, but every laptop in 2021 should have one and not some 720p piece of junk but for a 4k webcam. Cellphones have them and for this price, there is no reason why it shouldn't as well. Well, I hope this helped you if you are on the fence about this product. Again, it's a great laptop and in some cases better than the Zephyrus Duo I originally wanted, and in some cases, it isn't.

Clearly, this is a gaming laptop, but it works amazingly well for content creation. I've been a Mac user my entire life, I've never been able to buy a PC prebuilt that I was happy with until now. I've always built my PC's myself. I actually purchased a new M1 Mac Book Pro at the same time as this and I'm returning it today. The real value is this laptop is the pairing with the AMD 5900 and RTX 3070 ( I would have gotten a 3080 if available) - it's a killer content creation combo. It's also one of the few ways to get a new NVIDIA RTX 3000 series card without paying a scalper 2-4x above MSRP. Lastly, I also had the 2021 ROG Zephyrus 15' configured with a 5900/3070 for a week, the deal-breaker was its inability to go above 40 GB ram with 8GB being soldered to the motherboard, otherwise, that's a Mac Book killer laptop.

Closest match to purchased laptop. Reviewed laptop model in title. Performance is great when stable. Screen likes to blank out sometimes, mostly when changing from performance to boost. The mode change is triggered when you plug in the power supply. Coil noise can definitely be heard but doesn't bother me much. Runs very cool. For the price I would expect smoother and quicker response times. Not happy with the default ram shipped with unit. At this price point the ram frequency should be higher and the built in camera should be higher resolution. The keyboard picks up oil extremely easy (even with clean hands) and requires regular cleaning. Build materials could be slightly better. Other than that, its pretty solid but only worth it if you have money to throw away. ... MoreClosest match to purchased laptop. Reviewed laptop model in title. Performance is great when stable. It changes modes and goes out about once every 5 reboots which is way bad. You have to go in and change settings to get it back to what it should be.
This is by far the best computer that I have ever owned and should be deserving of 5 stars. The reason for 4 stars is due to some overlooked items that should be available with a computer of this caliber. The biggest is there is no webcam and for the price that is paid there should be one at least provided separately but alas, you have to buy it for a 2-3 figure hefty price and it doesn't include IR, which is needed for windows hello. If you don't use windows hello, then the specs look pretty good. The next thing is that there are 3 small white circular lights which indicate power, charging and ethernet. These are bright, especially at night, and there are no ways to turn the lights off or to dim them, even while the computer is sleeping. This causes a big annoyance ... These are bright, especially at night, and there are no ways to turn the lights off or to dim them, even while the computer is sleeping. This causes a big annoyance at night for those who have it in the same room. The only thing to do is to cover it, which is ridiculous considering all of the RGB control that this has. The next thing is that the overall customization of the little quality-of-life settings seem very limited, like the customization options for the M1-5 keys. I will be keeping this as it is amazing but the more you have it and play around with it, the more little nuanced things you find that should be able to change, given the price and power of this laptop, but can't. It is right on the edge of getting a 5 but I feel like the people involved with making this computer and testing it weren't asking all of the right questions.
I enjoyed playing codmw2, lol on the very first day. All ultra setting and qhd with the dolby vision...life is cool for a gamer of any level. The size of the laptop is compact and still has 15.6 inch is amazing. I do have msi and allienware with me. But this one is very compact. Only thing that is huge is the charger and the charger plug is a power one and that won't fit in in your regular plugpoint. You need a converter to use it. Otherwise, I completely enjoyed using this laptop. A must buy if you need true value for your money.

I honestly love this thing and it is capable of running pretty much anything perfectly it is fast, it is quiet and it is versatile. It is a legitimate PC, if feels just as good if not better than a regular stay at your desk PC. This beautiful piece of kit is incredibly powerful, there are 2 tiny things that I’ve come up against however, one: the battery life, at first, when I ran a orrery hardcore game on it, it depleted the battery pretty quickly, like 1 and a half hours, but then I stared to get to know this thing better and, trust me, the issue went away quick. If you play plugged in, you have no issues at all, if if you want the battery to last , there are some incredible settings you can mess around with to optimise you wonderful 15 hours of life. The only other issue was the trackpad, it is brilliant for what is it’s, but it just isn’t the same as a mouse, there were somethings that were just hard to do, but there are 2 solutions, customise the hot keys or plug in a mouse. I didn’t want to carry a mouse around so I just set up my hot keys to do what the trackpad should when I’m in annoying situations, for normal use( not gaming) if works amazingly, but when gaming I would just use the a mouse if you have the option. If not then once you get the hang of it then the problem doesn’t really become a problem anymore. Overall, this is perfect for any gamer who wants something that can play the best games with the best performance and also do at work they need to. It is a true PC on the move. Thank you ASUS, for this incredible piece of kit.
During the unboxing of this laptop, it becomes clear that Asus really cares about you. The packaging is sleek, there are guides to help make setting up and updating your new laptop a breeze, and support is always there when you need help. This laptop comes with an opti-mechanical keyboard, and at first I found clicking to be odd, since I've used an old chiclet keyboard for 7 years prior. However, the keyboard is easy to get used to and I personally love it. It is noteworthy that the clicking is loud, which can disrupt things during calls or meetings. Another great feature is the RGBs, in dark environments it creates an amazing aura effect on the computer, and can be controlled to either shine your personality while gaming or dimmed for Netflix. The speakers are also phenomenal, I feel that they are one of the best laptop speakers that I have ever heard and work great if you don't have a headset with you. The screen is a whole review on its own, but to keep it short, you can't find better anywhere else. Mine had NO dark or light spots, and the coloring is beautiful. One thing to note though is it isn't very bright if you are using it outdoors, but it is not much of a problem. In many reviews, people say that the lack of a MUX switch or Advanced Optimus will negatively impact the performance of the laptop. However, I feel that the raw performance coming from the powerful Ryzen CPU and beefy RTX 3080 negates the effects of regular Optimus. If you purchased the 165Hz version of this laptop (like me), you will have no trouble reaching this number on any FPS game. I play a lot of Rainbow Six Siege, CSGO, and Overwatch, and I can easily hit 165+ fps on max graphic settings for each of these games. In terms of thermals, I manually set the fans to 90%-100% while I game, and this roughly translates to an average of mid 80 degrees Celsius on both the CPU and GPU (will vary depending on the game).Moving onto the negative side, the plastic on the keyboard side became permanently discolored on the first day and smudges accumulate very quickly. The Keystone II is also very gimmicky, as it is not held on tightly and will come loose with one accidental swipe. Also, this laptop does not come with a camera. Given we are in a pandemic era (at the time of writing), a camera almost seems like a must. However there are alternatives, such as using a mobile phone or buying a cheap external camera. Finally, I think that this computer is a bit pricey but makes up for it with the premium features and performance. If budget is an issue, I would recommend the regular Strix G15 over this Scar 15. All-in-all, this laptop is personally my favorite and I definitely recommend anyone to get their hands on one if they can.
This ASUS Scar 15 G533 is beyond amazing! I also own a super powerful tower with an ASUS TUF RTX3090, and this Laptop which has an RTX3080, gets about the same performance as my tower. If you are worried about temperatures, no need to worry. This laptop stays between 70° and 85° under heavy gaming on max settings for extended periods of time. So the cooling technology ASUS advertises is not a gimmick. Speakers are decent. Customizable RGB Lighting is a huge plus if you are into showing off with lighting. The screen is the perfect size for laptop gaming and extremely vivid at 1440p with it's 240Hz refresh rate. ASUS spent some time on the exterior design of this laptop as well. As mentioned previously, the RGB Lighting is great, but aside from that it looks and feels like an extremely high quality machine. I've said this in the past on previous reviews, this is not my first ASUS product, and from what I have seen in my experience, ASUS makes superior products and I will continue to consider them before any other company when purchasing my tech gear.
I did not originally buy this computer. That being said my expectations were very very low of me being satisfied because I really liked the one I bought. I bought it for the reasons that I bought it for. I gave this 1 a chance and I've done so much with it that's not even gaming. Just learning how to do this or that, and integrating these different platforms and windows 11 is flawless with it. So I'm actually pleased that I ended up with this computer because the problems I had with the Zephyrus duo I would never wanna do that again. The only downside is I have no idea now if exotic PC will Honor the extended warranty anymore though. Never been able to get ahold of them or get replies from them that's where the 1 star comes off for this statement. I look forward to seeing the future of asus products.
