So this is a short review for this monitor not based on its defect, in fact I'd give it a one star for that, but I will be fair and ignore the defect it came with. The defect it had was a straight line vertically that only appeared after 3 days of moderately using it. I believe monitors are prone to these issues. So this monitor has good colors and it actually surprised me on how sharp 4k gaming can be, although I wasn't all that impressed. This is because I gamed on ultrawide 2k monitors and the jump in resolution isn't significant. Big or ultrawide monitors tend to have less pixel density compared to small monitors like this one which is 27 inch. Going for this size means sharper images and graphics as pixels are too close to each others on the cost of monitor ... I really think that 27 inch monitor aren't suitable for gaming, this should be at least 32 inch monitor. The bezels are actually very distracting in gaming at first, but I got accustomed to it. It is a turn off when gaming for sure with thick bezels. Other than that, this thing is a bargain at this price. All of my products are from Asus, computer parts and accessories. I love this brand and I think it is the best in the industry. I really hope that Asus makes improvement in their quality control and assurance and make it more extensive.

Getting DSC to function correctly in my experience can be kind of difficult depending on the complexity of your setup & how many monitors you have running & what graphics card you have. I ran into all sorts of troubles for months that ended up being another monitor I had plugged into an HDMI port on my graphics card that was causing the flashing black screen issue on this monitor at the 144hz setting for months. Making it even more complicated my old 2080 Ti does not suffer from this issue with this monitor & the old monitor on HDMI, only my new 3080 did. Keep is simple stupid, if you have problems. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Viue0tCvMbQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LtGTFgQoN0o

At first I was really pleased with this monitor. The problem I constantly have is. The monitor doesn’t turn on when I turn my pc on, like it doesn’t receive signal. My older brother has the same exact monitor, same issues.

I bought this hoping it would be good for everything: movies, photo editing, and general desktop work. I had a few annoying problems at first: it kept waking itself up out of standby and I couldn't find any setting that would make text on the MacOS desktop look good. Updating the firmware to V041 solved these problems, the standby bug is gone and the new firmware has a "VividPixel" setting which can be turned down to make text look decent. (this seems to be a sharpening filter, the default setting is over sharpened) Apart from that the picture quality was always stunning on movies and the monitor looks cool. It has a white back that looks like part of the Millenium Falcon (not visible in any of the product photos)
Pros:4K144hz tho with mine I had to under clock it to 138 or the panel would glitch out.Great colourEasy to navigate menuCons:Thick Bessel can be a deal breaker if you’re going with two monitors.Settings are lacking.HDR 400 is kinda a gimmick.Over all it’s a great monitor but for me I will be returning and going with the lg 4K 144 hz
I moved up from a 60 hz 4K gaming monitor to this and am thoroughly impressed. The colors and contrast this monitor can reproduce are so impressive I swear I can feel the heat off a lava flow! No joke! I can confirm this works with both gsync and Freesync- a major plus so you can use with Nvidia or AMD. High refresh rates, HDR, color range, and even things like easy access to FPS counters make this my favorite upgrade in the last several years. Really love it.
Pros: Great looking monitor with easy to use controls to give a perfect gaming experienceCons: The connections on the bottom are difficult to get to. In my opinion would have been better on the side. I say this because i managed to break the USB power in connector without even trying.
In the time I have had this monitor, about a few weeks now, I have been enjoying every second of it. Been using it with my RTX 2080 Ti and playing input sensitive games like Thumper has just felt so good. Its been a long time coming for these 4k 144 Hz panels to finally hit the market at a reasonable price ($800 US is still expensive, but not the thousands of dollars the first gen 4k high refresh rate monitors were debuting at), and for anyone whos serious about gaming at above 1440p with a high refresh rate, I would highly recommend this monitor. Of course, when it happens to be in stock as it seems like at time of this review, it is not in stock (I must have bought one of the few that Newegg had remaining), so definitely dont wait too long if youre contemplating ... Of course, when it happens to be in stock as it seems like at time of this review, it is not in stock (I must have bought one of the few that Newegg had remaining), so definitely dont wait too long if youre contemplating getting this when there is stock available. That said, if youre waiting for DP 2.0 (which is more than likely coming next year) or you plan on using this for your PS5/XSX, definitely pass on this and either get an LG CX/C1, or wait for price drops on current HDMI 2.1 monitors (or if you want to risk it, get on the waiting list for the Eve Spectrum 4k 144 Hz monitor which does have HDMI 2.1 ports and is not much more than the ASUS monitor).
The monitor was delivered without an outer box, which made me a bit nervous, but the monitor was well-packaged and arrived in perfect condition. Good design, nice adjustable stand and easy to use menu. I was worried about the brightness output, but was pleasantly surprised and only have the brightness set at 50%.Anyway, so far so good, very pleased with the purchase!
Good:The stand is very sturdy and heavy. The monitor doesn't move when the desk shakes at all. The monitor adjustments feel smooth and stay after you make changes.Vesa mountable. The combination of 144hrz, 1 ms response time and gsync makes gaming on this monitor an incredibly smooth experience.Looks cool. The colors are impressive.Bad:Would be nice if the stand would put the monitor farther back. The stand takes up a lot of desk space. The placement of the menu buttons and joy stick is hard to reach from in front of the monitor. The menu could be a little better, I had to turn off my monitor to get the frame rate counter to shut off.
