I have purchased and subsequently returned two of these displays. They are without question the brightest, sharpest curved widescreens at this price point, but both of mine had different issues that I could not live with. The first had strange color banding on the bottom third of the panel even on different machines and different cables. The second would go into factory burn in mode when resolution or refresh rate changed or when waking from sleep and need to be power cycled. Some of you may recall this was also an issue with the Asus PG279Q and the fix for those was board replacement. I also noticed on both displays the green and purple ghosting that others have reported in games. I bought this monitor on mostly a whim. After confusing myself with the different panel types and monitors recommended, I came across this diamond in the rough. It comes with both ELMB, Freesync and it's ultrawide for a change. Using ultrawide for the first time is fantastic, nothing feels squeezed any more when viewing webpages/documents side by side, it all fits comfortably. Additionally gaming has been cranked up a good few notches! I can see the entire map in strategy games and I get way more field of vision in first person shooters.The monitors bezel is slim and stand is rock solid. Very pleased from an ergonomic stand point. The stand could have been a bit narrower, however if it does annoy anyone they can always get a 2nd hand stand.

I absolutely love this monitor. It's not to big not to small. It has a great picture awesome color. The only way i can see to get a better picture than this monitor your going to have to go with a OLED monitor and you will pay $2500 or more. This will not get you the black levels like an OLED will but i play computer games on mine and im not complaining one bit.I think the picture is amazing for the price and the size is perfect. I play mainly world of tanks and its so nice to have the left and right view with the extra wide monitor. Also a big bonus is this has a USB hub. So if you needed to plug something in using a usb port now you have several on the back of the monitor.So you lose one from your computer to plug the hub in but you gain 3 extra there is 4 there ... MoreI absolutely love this monitor. Coming from an alienware 24 in 1080p 240hz monitor, I was looking for something that can make use of my 3080, while also keeping a high refresh rate. I had bought an ultrawide 1440p monitor before and had returned it because I couldn't stand the ghosting from having a 5ms response time. when I got this one, I was really impressed with the lack of ghosting. Paired with the 165hz refresh rate I could barely tell the difference between this and the 240hz that I used for 18 months.Can recommend for someone who is looking for snappy response times and high enough refresh rate.Oh if anyone is wondering, it is just as tall as a 27 in monitor side by side.

I jumped into the monitor settings and turned down the OD since I read that is what causes a lot of the issues on VA panels, the default was at 60 so I went down to 40 the subsequently 20. Nothing seemed to change so I fired up Horizon Zero Dawn which I just finished so I was quite familiar with the way the game looked. Sure enough once it got dark in the game I saw a weird green and purple artifacts around objects as the camera moved quickly. I turned the OD back up to 60 just to see if that's what was causing it and sure enough turning that setting up made it worse.I played a few more games and I didn't notice the problem as much in other games that I read about people having artifacting issues with this particular monitor, mostly FPS games. Both games I had a problem with I had the refresh rate set to 144hz in the in-game options I never thought of checking to see what Windows set the monitors refresh rate assuming it would be 144hz since the advertised 165hz is an overclock. Windows sets the default refresh rate to 165hz so I turned that down to 144hz and I also installed the correct driver's from Asus's website. I went back into HZD and the artifacting was lessened to the point where I wasn't sure I was even seeing it anymore and after I stopped looking for it and continued to play the game as normal I never noticed the problem again. At some point I also went into my Nvidia settings and turned Gsync off. I don't think this makes a difference but the Nvidia control panel tells you the monitor is not Gsync compatible so I turned it off even though it is turned it on by default after installing the monitor.I've been using the monitor for a week now and tried a bunch of different games from different genres just to make sure I wouldn't have a problem down the line and I have not noticed any major issues with ghosting or artifacts with this panel. I did turn the refresh rate up to 165hz just to see what would happen and I almost immediately noticed the weird green and purple artifacts again.Everything else about the monitor is great at the price point. I'm not upset about not being able to use the advertised 165hz refresh rate since I had been planning on using the monitor at 144hz all along. The panel is only HDR-400 so it won't "take full advantage of HDR" but if you don't notice the difference from turning HDR on and off in games you should get your eyes checked. I really like the curvature and this was the one thing I thought I would have the most trouble adjusting to but it took no time to get acclimated to it.

I haven’t been using it for long hours on end, and daily, like I had before though. So if “overuse” does start this again, I’ll be changing my review lol.The colors look great though, really vibrant. Especially in the dark! It’s very bright too, which I feel like you don’t normally see with VA panels. The size and curvature makes it very immersive. The high refresh rate and low response time are good for gaming. This monitor is quite aesthetically pleasing as well, all black with thin top and side bezels and a slightly thicker bottom bezel. I’m not a huge fan of the stand. It was easy to assemble and the base is thin, but it just takes up a decent amount of desk space. My brother has a ASUS Tuf VG279QR, which has a very nice, compact stand. The monitor is quite heavy however, so I get why it needs this wide stand. The monitor even has speakers! They don’t get that loud and aren’t terrible, but can suffice if you want to go without a headset or don’t own speakers.Overall it’s a great monitor so far, everything I was looking for without breaking the bank. You could definitely spend double the amount for something nicer. I would give 5 stars if it weren’t for my flickering issue on my first one.
As an industrial process designer below are the big items I look for in digital technology.1. Overall impression and look: amazing! Curve screen does not show much glare in wet lit areas, colors and finishes match and are well combined. Looks super big when set up.2. Shipping & putting together: box is not that heavy and took less than 15 minutes to set up with instructions, tools are provided and using a manual screw helps process go faster.3. Love the fact that it has an integrated adaptor, so losing a cord with a big adapter goofy box is not in this buy. This is a big deal, I recommend integrated adapters on systems like this. The integrated or built-in speakers are a plus, one less thing to buy. Make sure you have a big enough desk for better use, I recommend using a desk corner to allow for more working space.5. Settings & adjustments: I have used many of the ports and have multiple connections hooked up, I love working from home professionally and then at end of my day gaming online and quickly jumping in without wasting time. Tipping or tilting screen and lifting height does not require much work. Changing the height helps when using high FPS games.6. Visual looks & modes: the big curve takes it away, having this monitor makes you feel different, the high definition and lighting is so realistic, the different settings or modes help a lot, depending on what you are doing.7. Size & weight: the length is no overwhelming big, just the right size, if you buy two of these with the proper graphics card you will feel like a nuclear plant scientist with all those windows and programs open. Weight is not bag easy to carry up floors, carry it at middle long side of box to lift weight symmetrically.8. Adjustability & maneuverability: this is where I think this monitor does better than others, after hours of use you can tilt, raise and or pivot monitor depending on where you are sitting, for example I have a wireless keyboard and mouse a notebook and folders and have Revit 3D, Teams, MS outlook and a couple of scientific calculators running sharp. And I don’t need two monitors, just one of these. Two of these would be great overkill or just good to run eight programs at once.9. Price or payments for product: price is totally worth the buy, I saw other monitors that costed more that don’t have the above essentials, this buy is worth considering over two pricy monitors.
