ASUS Tuf Gaming is a Tough Board

I went to Micro Center looking for a totally different main board, but decided on the ASUS TUG Gaming Wifi AMD AM4 ATX board after seeing about two dozen other boards. It had the I/O I wanted. It sported multiple video ports. It had speedy ethernet and WiFi network capability. The UEFI interface in CMOS was easy to use and reliable. Full Featured Mobo at a Reasonable Price

Since I seemed to be at the end of a rope, I decided to do a Hail Mary and reseat the CPU. Glad I did as that solved everything. My bad on not seating the CPU as securely as it should have been. Can't fault the ASUS tech rep for not going there as that would have taken a lot of time. Nonetheless, once passed this challenge the board booted up Win10 (SDD MBR) correctly and I then just worked my way through installation of data HDDs, printers, etc. Works like a champ!!Another ASUS feature I like is their BIOS/UEFI implementation and setup. Easy to use graphical interface. I recently converted the legacy BIOS/MBR-based system boot to the now required UEFI/GPT boot structure. I used the Win10 MBR2GPT command utility to change the SDD boot record from MBR to GPT. I then had to change the BIOS configuration from legacy CSM to UEFI -- which is easily accomplished in the ASUS mobo. This conversion is not for the faint-of-heart, but fortunately my conversion went smoothly. Whew!!

Good board, but terrible onboard sound.

I love the features of this board has everything I want on a board at a good price point, but the only gripe I have is the onboard sound card is practically useless. Everything has to be turned on to at least 65-90% volume for it to be at a decent volume level. Thank god I already run a separate DAC/AMP for my audio, or I would've immediately returned it. Now I know no on board sound card can compare to an actual dedicated DAC/AMP set up, but my two previous mobo's at least could drive my headphones(Beyerdynamic DT 1990). Thought I had gotten a defective board at first so returned it for another one to find out its the same.

Got this one for my son’s build. It is okay for his build. Got a Ryzen 7 with Lian Li case with USB-C. Love the fact that the motherboard has a usb-c header for it. His older brother got a B550 but we this board was better in our opinion. Don’t like that this board only has one ARGB header which made it difficult to route all argb fan connectors in one spot. One of the the M.2 SSD port don’t have a heat sink cover which was disappointing. Instruction manual was pretty straightforward but it could be better. We love the wireless capabilities but we antenna didn’t have any magnets. So far we are enjoying the card. Price is not the high pricey ones but it’s good for a gaming PC in my opinion.

The Asus X570-pro Tuf Gaming WiFi is essentially an upgrade/revision over the hugely popular X570-plus Tuf Gaming WiFi. It's basically the same board with a couple of new additions, namely a BIOS flashback button, WiFi 6, and a USB-C front panel header.The X570-pro builds upon the greatness of its predecessor. It has the same great featureset, should you decide you need it. PCIE 4.0 support, wifi, 2 NVME slots, plenty of SATA 6.0 ports, lots of USB ports on the back, and so on.Looks are very subjective, so usually when friends ask if I would recommend something based on looks I just tell them to look at the dang thing themselves, but in my opinion the Tuf Gaming X570-pro looks nice. The RGB lighting on the bottom right is understated, a bonus for me because I personally don't like RGB; I prefer my computers to look understated. You can also turn the RGB off as well if you prefer in the BIOS.The one major, glaring flaw that I spotted at least is the placement of the chipset fan. It is right next to the slot you will want to put your graphics card in, meaning that basically any modern graphics card will cover it. This was true even of a relatively short card like the 3070 Founder's Edition. As a result, the chipset fan has to work overtime to cool the chipset- while it technically has a fan stop feature, and will boot not spinning, as soon as you do anything remotely intensive, such as playing a game, the fan will spin up to over 2000 RPM and, because it's so bad at cooling, will never ramp back down, even when idling again. While this seems like a major deal, I personally don't feel like it is for two reasons- despite this flaw, the chipset only peaks at 65C even after a long gaming session, a safe temperature, and secondly, the chipset fan is in the same location for basically every other x570 motherboard. So unless you pay way more money for a x570 board with passive cooling (overkill for most people), you're going to run into this problem with any x570 mobo you purchase anyway.Back to the good- there isn't much more to say, to be honest. Personally, I feel like a good motherboard just works, and that's what the x570-pro does. It has all the rear ports I want, the front USB-C header I want, the excellent wifi connection I want (over doubled my speeds compared to my old computer that was using a PCIE wifi card). The wifi/bluetooth connections have been excellent, with no issues, all the ports work. I applied slight overclocks to both my GPU clock speed and my CPU, with no issues (nothing extreme though). The DOCP (XMP) profile worked perfectly with my RAM. The Asus BIOS was easy to navigate. The BIOS flashback feature is a great tool to have, especially if you're looking at a new Ryzen 5000 CPU, which requires an updated BIOS. Because this SKU is so new, I actually didn't need to flash the BIOS to get my 5600x working at all, which is another big plus in this board's favor, though Asus doesn't guarantee this and it might not be true for all models. If the quality of a good motherboard is that it checks all the boxes, that's what the X570-Pro does.

I bought this board to take full advantage of the 5000 series Ryzen CPUs as I was running a 5800X in an Asus ROG STRIX B450-F gaming before. There is a definite increase in performance with this board being able to sustain a higher boost clock in multi core applications. I also now have no stuttering issues in games like I did before in a few titles.This board is packed full of features and I can highly recommend it to anyone who wants to hang on with the AM4 platform for a little bit longer.

TLDR; Support makes you pay for shipping on an item that is only 2 months old, and really had it's first sign of failure on day 1. Ordered on November 10th, assembled November 12th. Booted up and configured BIOS on day 1 Connected phone to USB-C port to use as charger since I don't have any real USB-C devices. It makes ringing connect and disconnect sounds non-stop. My phone was old so I chalked it up to it just not liking being plugged in for data. Realized my real sense camera had no functionality and ordered a new camera 2 weeks later. Camera came with a USB-C connector great... Connect camera to the USB connector... It starts playing the windows connect/disconnect sound so fast it sounds like one long tone almost. I ask for cross ship, they say no can do. It makes sense it's not a necessarily cheap item and I've done fraud loss protection before. Unfortunately I have a big project due for work so I needed the computer for the next month or so and couldn't afford to be down. This is just a nuisance at this point. Everything is going fine along until January 27th, I was relaxing after work playing Halo Infinite, reminiscing about the first time I played Halo back in High School... Match is about to end and bewwwp... black screen. Look down and my tower is rebooting. It looks like it hung on something so I physically toggled power. The board hits POST and sticks on The White Light. Check the manual VGA is bad... hmmm... Whelp the 3070 Ti I bought 4 days prior direct from New Egg was brand new in box, it's not likely it died, but what the hell let's swap out the old Vega 64 that is still chugging along. Nope... still The White Light PSU... still The White Light RAM... still The White Light unplug everything except GPU (no integrated graphics) and fans... still The White Light Go to the Google... The White Light is an ASUS Tuf and ROG series curse. Make an emergency run to macroedges big box retailer and pick up new MOBO with x570 chipset (not cheap)... hook up all the Original components I had in my system... Powers right up... Whelp I have a band-aid, now I seems like a good time to RMA... Contact support Go through the normal questions about trouble shooting. Get approved for RMA Ask for Shipping label. No, you have to pay shipping. Excuse me... It's obviously a manufacturers defect We can't pay for shipping. Fine.. just give me the RMA number... End Scene If you made it this far, I bought an ASUS motherboard because I know ASUS is supposed to be a reputable company... Reputable companies stand behind their products... I have a bandaid right now, I don't care if they ship it cargo freight to China and it takes 2 or 3 months... but the fact that I buy an upper mid-range board, that is supposed to be TUF and it fails out of the box and dies 2 months in then I'm expected to pay shipping... Get out of here man... Not good at all. I'm not going to say I'm never buying ASUS again, but I'm definitely going to remember this when I do.

I was initially very excited about purchasing this motherboard. It has had excellent reviews based on its VRM performance especially considering the price. Some may not like the understated asthetics but I do. It pairs very nicely with the Asus Tuf RTX 3090 I have installed. Installation was fairly straightforward but many of the wired connections/sockets felt cheap and flimsy. I truly felt I may break some while routing wiring. As can be seen in the pictures the wire connections are not the only flimsy connection on this motherboard. The lower PCI-E 16x slot just fell apart. Now I am left with a mass of exposed pins. The top 16x slot is reinforced, I guess the bottom slot was a complete after thought. I undid the the lock connection and as I picked the card up, the plastic bracket just came with it. By the time I heard the sound of the pins slipping out of the bracket it was too late. There was no resistance when lifting it up. Now I have a $220 waste of electronics. Not to mention the other PC parts attached to it that are now out off commission. I sure hope Newegg and an Asus rep are listening. This type of assembly/manufacturing is unacceptable and I would hope they stand by their product. It is obvious that I put a lot of faith in these Asus products as I paid out the nose for the RTX 3090. I am just very disappointed in the quality of the product I was sent and I hope that this matter is resolved quickly.

If you are putting AMD 5000 series CPU, the BIOS the board ships with will not be compatible, but you need a way to update it without a CPU installed, which is where the flashback feature comes in and is very handy, but it is VERY PARTICULAR about the type of USB flash drive you use. Took me 3 hours of trial and error before I stumbled on a vague reddit post with 2 likes and 3 comments that covered this. Why the manufacturer doesn't mention these IMPORTANT details in the instructions is beyond me. Second... the IO shield is bad. I mean, I have no idea how this got past quality control/quality assurance, but the IO shield's hole for the BIOS flashback button is offset a bit, so if you install the board, even if the button goes through the hole, it will be pushed to the side which will register as a "pressed" button, so the first time you go to boot your PC, it will not boot because your mobo is trying to update the BIOS because that button is pushed. I ended up having to basically destroy the IO shield in the back just to release the button. Don't make the same mistake as me - do yourself a favor and cut the BIOS flashback button hole on the IO shield more to the right side (toward middle) so when you install your mobo you won't run into same issues as me. Other than those two MAJOR annoyances, the board is great. The good news is that you will only need to deal with those problems during the build, and once that is resolved you can continue enjoying it without other hitches.

I had one of my computer savvy nephews listen to my list of needs based on the ability to upgrade to Windows 11, performance, and mid-level gaming (for me and not the limitations of the motherboard). The ASUS X570-Pro TUF Gaming WiFi meets all my expectations and more. It is a solid choice. I also appreciate the ASUS program (Armoury Crate) that allows for immediate visual information monitoring CPU temp etc. and overall updates.My one complaint/frustration was with the box clearly having a new sticker designating it as Windows 11 ready. When I first booted up the pc and went to the Windows update download, it indicated that "Your device does not meet the requirements for upgrade".
