Aten 4-Port True 4K HDMI Switch

Works really well, does what it says it will do. Price is perhaps on the high side but this reflects the rather solid build quality. Even works with my Logitech Harmony Remote

The build quality is good and performs as expected. Doesn't run hot, and channel switching is fairly smooth. On some set-ups you might find a delay when switching between 1080p and 4k (though haven't figured out if this is a TV thing or a switch thing).Has auto-switch functionality but I haven't used that personally. There is a port in on the front which I thought at first was strange, but that ended up being extremely useful for plugging in things I use sporadically.

Very happy with this unit, easy to set up and use, and the picture and sound quality is not effected. Great way to work around a TV without enough HDMI ports. Ensure you use 4K capable HDMI cables.

Great Remote - Bad EDID

Was replacing a shady Chinese HDMI Switch with this one. I've got a 4k display. I plugged everything in and my picture turned into 1080p. After an hour I managed to get it to 4k by resetting the EDID over and over again. Switched to a dif display and back and it was broken again. Unplugged it and went back to the Chinese HDMI Switch. The Chinese Switch has a terrible controller and really annoying auto switch that can't be turned off but atleast it works.I've tried out a LOT of HDMI Switches over the years and that sketchy Chinese one is the only one to work to date. Figured if any switch'd work it'd be the one from ATEN but nope ;D.

I tried several HDMI 4K switches. Some could carry 4K, some could do HDR but none of the models I tried could pass 4K HDR and Dolby Digital 5.1. My LG OLED is connected to a SONOS Playbar through the optical port and with the ATEN switch I get additional HDMI ports and full DD 5.1 to my Sonos System. As a bonus I can control the inputs through a Logitech Harmony remote and everything works perfectly. Well worth the money.

I wanted to switch HDMI inputs programmatically from my Libreelec Kodi and expected to have to get a receiver with a RS232 interface but found this guy to save the day. I've used an ATEN dual-monitor KVM for years and have been very happy with it's quality and performance. The serial commands are well documented and only took a little experimentation. I wrote a script (posted below, maybe it'll save someone some work) for linux that sets the serial port (ttyS0 on my box, you'll have to determine your own) to 19200 N81 each time (to be sure) and transmits the command. I was looking for a (true) 4K switch but one with buttons. I don't need another remote lying around the house - although this products comes with a remote, I am not using it at all. Compact in size, not too flashy... so far it does what it needs to do. No complaints.

Pass on this one. Your stuff will pick up the switch instead of the display behind it most of the time and the switch shouts that it's 1080p. Trying to get the display behind it to be visible is an hour of unplugging/replugging to reset the EDID over and over again until you can see the 4k display behind it. If you dare switch to another input you have to restart the entire EDID dance again. I'm back on the Chinese switch. It does EDID correctly.
