Audeze LCD-GX Gaming Headset by Addicted to Audio
The LCD-GX uses Audeze's proven planar driver technology. The patented Fluxor magnets and ultra-thin Uniforce diaphragms deliver mesmerizing sound quality. The 106mm drivers provide exceptionally rich bass, excellent resolution and a wide precise soundstage, making listening to music an experience for audiophiles. Thanks to the high level of detail and lifelike sound characteristics, the LCD-GX is also very well suited for audio processing in music production. A headphone cable with a 6.35 mm plug is included for use with stereo equipment. Because of the extremely good efficiency paired with the low impedance, the LCD-GX is easy to drive and can therefore also be used with a good portable music player. In addition, the LCD-GX is ideal for the passionate gamer. Included in the package is a headphone cable with a boom microphone and 3.5 mm plug, which is perfect for gaming. Also included is a splitter with two separate connections for microphone and audio on the computer. The LCD-GX connects to the 3.5mm port on PC, Mac, smartphone, tablet, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch. The directional, ambient noise attenuating boom microphone features a mute button and a bendable gooseneck that allows for optimal positioning. The LCD-GX functions fully analog - without digital signal processing - and is aimed at sound purists who expect the best possible sound even when gaming. To ensure the very best quality, the LCD-GX is handcrafted at Audeze's California factory. The headphones feature a lightweight magnesium housing, memory foam ear cushions that mold to the shape of your ears, and a comfortable size-adjustable steel-and-leather headband. This ensures maximum wearing comfort and the headphones are predestined for long-term use.

This purchase marks my foray into "audiophile" headphones. I begin with that comment to both fend off the inevitable shark attack from audiophiles ("those cans ****! Get these $5000 ones instead!") AND to qualify my review. This review is really more for folks who aren't the type of people who would normally buy or who have already bought headphones of this nature. I suspect that there are many of you exactly like me: lots of experience with headphones like the Astro line. Standard gaming fare. With that firmly in your mind now just imagine "more." These aren't magic however as I feel it is possible to build $900 headphones up to that expected "magic" level. If you can get past expecting magic these are amazing. I can't speak audiophile speak (sound stage et al.) ... MoreThis purchase marks my foray into "audiophile" headphones. These aren't magic however as I feel it is possible to build $900 headphones up to that expected "magic" level. If you can get past expecting magic these are amazing. I can't speak audiophile speak (sound stage et al.) but I can tell you that these are on a different level. I think the thing that makes them so very different from standard gaming equipment is their open design. It honestly makes a difference. It "opens" up the sound and I feel like it allows my ears to work the way they're meant to. Now will they help you play better in Call of Duty? Couldn't say. I don't play on that kind of level. I don't listen for enemy footsteps or whatever. From what I CAN tell however the directionality is really good in the games that I do play. Oh and keep in mind that you probably can't (I haven't tried. I've read that they're too quiet without an amp) just plug these into your machine like regular old headphones. You need an amp so that's an additional expense. I use the EVGA Nu Audio sound card. These are also really nice for music if that's important to you. Again not magic but way better than any "normal" headphones. Now I've also used the Audeze Mobius headphones. I started with those but didn't find them sufficiently different from say the A40s. Yes they sounded better I suppose but it's the open design of the LCD-GX set that really makes the difference. The real question is "are they worth the money?" Well if you have $900 laying around to spend on headphones then yes. Yes they are. While you won't suddenly understand the meaning of life the universe and everything by placing them upon your noggin you won't easily be able to go back to using A40s. This really is a whole other level.

These headphones are an outstanding value. Great audiophile quality for listening to music and a high quality microphone when talking . It is the best of both worlds!
I've been intrigued by the idea of this headset since first hearing about it a few years ago, and despite a bad experience with their Mobius headphones, decided to give these a shot.Unfortunately, having used these for almost two weeks, I cannot in all good conscience recommend them. While the presentations is spectacular, I can't help thinking that they could have saved some money on the rather pointless but rugged peli-style case, and instead sold the headphone with a more comfortable headband. As it stands, to someone like me with a distinct absence of hair, these are very uncomfortable to wear for extended gaming sessions. The default suspension-style headband doesn't have enough clearance between the strap and the metal headband, meaning that the metal ends up digging into my head over time.I have tried to resolve this by buying a third-party cover and padding for the headband, and these have helped somewhat, but thanks to the overall weight of the headphone, can still result in pain across the top of my head over time. And to be frank, for this price, I shouldn't be having to buy third-party products to fix a design flaw in the headphone. And the real kicker is that on top of the comfort issue, the audio quality is barely discernible as being better than the Sennheiser 363D headphone it's ostensibly "replacing".I drive my headphones through the excellent Sennheiser GSX-1000, and both headphones sound almost identical.I am actually on the verge of returning them, I am so disappointed with them. Even if the headstrap was comfortable, the miniscule improvement in sound quality wouldn't be worth the cost.Avoid.
First shipment got lost. Second shipment got delayed forever. Headphones are amazing.
