I have bought my pair of A5+ mid February 2022, expectations were high as these were the first "proper speaker" I bought. Previously I had Logitech and Creative 2.1 systems which were quite good (or so I thought). Once I hooked up A5+ I was completely shocked and blown away. The sound has such a depth and there is actually 3D feeling when you listen to music. It's impossible to describe, you get confused as your favorite songs sound completely different but in a good way. And you can crank it up to 11 and music still sounds great. There is bass there are mids there are highs.. Everything is there!! I'm not saying speakers from Logitech or Creative are bad, they have their purpose, but if you want to really enjoy the music (or just listen to podcasts) you need to ... MoreI have bought my pair of A5+ mid February 2022, expectations were high as these were the first "proper speaker" I bought. Absolutely amazing and worth every penny. They are not cheap but they are worth it. I'm in no sense audiophile but this speakers have spoiled me and I doubt I could go back to regular speakers. After 1 year of listening, and I average 5-6 hours per day (I work from home) they are going strong and there are ZERO issues. Best buying decision I made. Just buy the speakers and don't look back.

I own a couple of Audioengine products including a A5+ speaker system, B2 Bluetooth and a D1 DAC. Unfortunately my A5+ left speaker had a low sound issue which required the assistance from customer service. The experience was seamless from beginning to end. Great, responsive and knowledgeable customer service representatives. I'm very happy by how my issue was resolved. I will always recommend Audioengine products. Thank you so much!!!

I purchased the A5+ powered speakers along with the S6-powered subwoofer. I was shocked at the clear sound and clean bass response. I had a Bose Acustamass set up on my computer for about 11 years. I thought it was the cat's meow. When I upgraded to a new computer I wanted to upgrade the sound system as well. I shopped around and came across Audioengine. Read reviews and decided to buy this set. I am totally blown away by the clear sound, and clean punchy bass, and the stereo separation is incredible. Sorry, Bose, you are no longer on my list of good sound equipment. I know what I like in sound and this is it.

I have been enjoying a nice black pair of A2 for nine years, that still sound fantastic. These A5+ are simply a few grades up. Quite powerful for a large living-room, with awesome build and design, wide range, and a full bassy sound so efficient you don't really need a subwoofer (I'm into Blues, Classic Rock and some Metal). Bluetooth connexion (super easy to set up) is smooth and stable.I took my time before my purchase, checking out several other makes and models in the same price range (or even a bit more) and am definitely convinced I made the right choice.
I've had A5+'s for years and love them. Excellent sound connected directly to my turntable and they look great on a bookshelf. I recently upgraded to the A5+ wireless (bluetooth) so I could connect my devices and stream. I couldn't be happier. Pairing is a breeze; connecting is seamless; the range is impressive; and the sound (as expected) is phenomenal. I listen to all types of music and the A5+'s can handle everything I throw and them. 10/10 would recommend.
Remarkably good sounding speakers given their size limitations. They are value for money. A quality subwoofer improves the ROI. Signal path from computer: RME Digiface DAC, AudioQuest Yosemite analog cables, 10" PreSonus Eris Pro Subwoofer (high pass filter on), AudioQuest Yosemite to AudioEngine A5+. During some burn-in time, 20Hz to 20KHz audio sweeps found nearly flat audio with minimal drop-off at the extremes. Well recorded CD’s, WAV, and FLAC files all have excellent detail. Instruments and voices are well placed on the sound stage with air around them. The sound is more dry than rich and warm. Transients are clear with very little edginess. It is a joy listening to jazz, rock, and small ensemble classical music. Large orchestral music sounds great until the ... MoreRemarkably good sounding speakers given their size limitations. I think they will sound even better in 100 hours.
I'd purchased an Audioengine B2 bluetooth speaker to stream music in a small space based on reviews. I was a bit underwhelmed by the sound UNTIL I added a subwoofer to it. I was then blown away. With that in mind, when it was time to upgrade my computer speakers (for streaming mostly) I looked at Audioengine's other speakers and decided to go with the A5+ and S8 sub. They are bit overkill in my current situation, however I plan on using them to their fullest. Anyone can do LOUD, the beauty to this system is how good it sounds at lower volumes. I was expecting a smaller speaker box for the A5+ and was a bit surprised when they showed up, needless to say they are a breeze to set up, bluetooth connected in seconds, I placed them on their sides (tweeter to the outside ... MoreI'd purchased an Audioengine B2 bluetooth speaker to stream music in a small space based on reviews. AT LOW VOLUME. Crank them up and they still feel just as sweet.I've tested about every genre of music that I will ever listen to. From chill, country, classical, pop, rock, and reggae ( I could feel the sub freqs down to my plums)Result, stand alone the A5+ are really nice sounding speakers, add the S8 and you will experience how music SHOULD be experienced.
I guess I'm somewhat of an "audiophile" and take sound very seriously. I primarily listen through a collection of high-end headphones through high-end DACs: Audeze LCDi4, Sennheiser HD800 S, and custom JH Audio Layla IEM as well as a Sennheiser MTW for workouts at the gym and a Sony WH-1000XM3 for the long flights on my frequent business trips. I'm very spoiled by the sound of some excellent headphones - especially the Audeze LCDi4, which is my go-to-headphones for serious listening and which I take out with me on my daily hikes/walks around the mountain trails of the neighborhood.I do have a few Bose SoundLink wireless speakers around the house but I never use them for real listening. They are more for my wife to have playing in the background. After a while, I decided we need to get a real set of good speakers for the bedroom without breaking the bank. I considered the Apple HomePods and some other similar speakers but my main criteria was sound quality. I was not at all interested in a "Smart" speaker that I talk to and which speaks back to me. I wanted sound quality first and foremost. After some research and dismissing various "popular" candidates, I discovered Audioengine and I was intrigued. So, after deliberating and considering the A5+ for a few months, I finally took the plunge.I'm still in the process of breaking in the speakers but I can honestly say that I'm quite impressed and happy with what I'm hearing. I primarily listen to classical music (Beethoven, Brahms, and Wagner being my favorite composers with some Bach, Mozart, Schubert, Chopin and Debussy thrown in) and a little bit of jazz (mostly classic acoustic jazz in the mold of 50's~60's Miles Davis, Bill Evans, and Pat Metheny). My days of rock/metal/pop are long over although I may still play a few oldies here and there. Essentially, I've thoroughly moved on from rock/pop to classical and this genre really does require high-fidelity in terms of frequency range, tonal balance, dynamic range, signal-to-noise ratio, soundstage, etc. The A5+ delivers in all these areas and it's exactly what I needed for the bedroom when I don't want to put on the headphones.Since I mainly listen to classical and acoustic jazz, I really wasn't concerned about the low-end but I did try some DJ music by the likes of Armin van Buuren and experimental electronica by Autechre and I determined that the A5+ had as much as low-end as I would ever need and a subwoofer was not at all necessary. Perhaps hip-hop listeners would want to add it but, personally, I'm not into the booming bass kind of thing at all. I also ran through some brutal metal by Meshuggah, old dance pop of Prince, fusion guitar of Allan Holdsworth and jazz-pop vocals of Norah Jones and they all sounded great although I hardly listen to this kind of stuff anymore. Finally, I started playing my classical favorites like Brahms' symphonies, Beethoven's piano concertos, Chopin's Nocturnes and Bach's Mass in B Minor and they brought a big smile to my face. After years of listening almost exclusively through headphones, it was nice to hear the music "floating on air" for a change. The silky clarity in the treble, the warm richness in the mids, and the defined and focused low-end are all there. As much of an audiophile as I am - and I have heard extremely expensive systems that approach six figures with $3K speakers cables and such - I have no interest in spending absurd amounts of money on such a system and tailoring an entire room to accommodate it. I prefer great headphones for that kind of "audiophile" experience anyway. I can say that the Audioengine A5+ more than fills my need and it provides truly superb sound with an outstanding value when one considers how ridiculously expensive high-end speakers can get. The A5+ is so good that I'm now considering another pair for my office and perhaps the A6 with the subwoofer to replace the aging Bose home theater system which I guess is fine for dialogue and explosions in movies but utterly useless for music listening. I'm sure glad to have discovered Audioengine and these speakers. There's no need to break the bank for "audiophile" quality or settle for inferior "mass market" powered speakers. Audioengine seems to have found that perfect sweet spot.
At some point, those other tiny desktop speakers are no longer what you're looking for. A hearing-aid wearer needs the best fidelity and clarity. The Audioengine speakers have real components, and are nice and clean from soft to loud. Lute, pipe organ, classical guitar, singing voice - all nicely done. Speech is easy to hear.Note, as they say in the instructions, the speakers do have some break-in. At first, they sound a little bright and tinny, and mellow out as the larger element comes to itself.Sub-woofer needed? Possibly not, if you're happy to hear the deepest tones as background. These speakers do that job. If you want room-shaking whallup, then you'll need a bigger cone and heavy mass, etc., a sub.Altogether, the 2 bookshelf speakers are very nice for ... MoreAt some point, those other tiny desktop speakers are no longer what you're looking for. Upgraded from the A2+ and heard an immediate improvement. Sounds even better than I expected!! Most of the competition uses class-d amps but I believe I can hear a difference. The attack with these A5’s are immediate, especially on bass. Class-d amps seem to have a slightly softer attack and a less dynamic/more compressed sound overall.Picked up the bamboo model - looks great.LOVE the remote - a solid block of aluminum. Nice touch! The engineers who design these are absolute nerds and I love that they love what they do!
