I started with one and now have 5 all together.I have one on my evo 13.5 it sits on the standard lid and it works perfect.I also use 3 on fresh water tanks and have used pellets, flake, and freeze dried. It is very easy to set up, easy to adjust and comes with everything you need for multiple mounting options.Free shipping from Satwateraquarium.com is much appreciated and more times than not it gets to my door in about 3-4 from order time!

This feeder is reliable, if programmed properly. Dispenses proper amount of food. I was able to leave my 60 gallon tank for a week (couple of times, without any issues with fish. However I cannot instal it on the rim of the tank, because the opening is small, hence one star off. It kinda stands on the glass in the middle, so I cannot close the top lid.

The feeder does not fit the plastic rim of the Aqueon tanks. I spoke to Eheim support who simply responded "Yep".Plan to test this feeder for a week or so before relying on the unit as the food is dispensed erratically . I had to tape a piece of Styrofoam in the feeder cup to reduce the amount dumped.

Just want to warn others as I did not fully understand why so many reviews talked about their feeders falling in the tank. Well its because they did not design the clamp so its usuable, unless u have a rimmless tank. They expect you to place it on top of a canopy. The clamp is way to small to fit most aquariums. You need to cut and modify it so it fits over your rim. Its my fault as I should of sent it back, but I didnt want the hassle and be without it. I figured I would get my buddies skill saw to cut it. I was super careful and placed it on top but sure enough it fell in as most will eventually will without mods. Just frustrating because it should come standard to fit most tanks without cutting it! Unless u have a rimless tank or like moding things so they work ... MoreJust want to warn others as I did not fully understand why so many reviews talked about their feeders falling in the tank. For the money this has been hard to beat. Easy to program and then walk away. Lets me get away for a while without having to have someone try to feed my tank. Two issues, one easily overcome: the door for the feed opening moves easily and can be accidentally opened wider or narrower when handling the container; a piece of tape took care of that. The other is a lack of an "off" switch. Seems like that would be pretty basic - but having to take the batteries out to turn it off is a nuisance. If you use it all the time, no worries, but removing/replacing batteries and reprogramming each time I use it is a bit annoying. That said, it does what I need it to for a very reasonable price.
After having tried three other auto-feeders including one from Ehiem this one seems to have nailed my requirements. It will handle small and large pellets along with flake (I mix some pellets with flake and this works great too). You can meter the amount fed with relative ease although not much precision. The door that controls the amount fed is pretty easy to knock open or closed and doesn't have positive clicks on each setting, The door on the two units I own just kind of flops between settings so an errant thumb when you set it up could easily knock it out of adjustment. Probably a QC issue on the parts from their supplier as others haven't mentioned this problem. A piece of tape has locked it down for me. The unit is near silent and very unobtrusive when mounted ... MoreAfter having tried three other auto-feeders including one from Ehiem this one seems to have nailed my requirements. The unit is near silent and very unobtrusive when mounted above my tank. I put it directly above a power head to ensure the whole amount of food is distributed around the tank. Other than the feed door there isn't much room for improvement as it is easy to program. Currently my fish all park just below the feeder and seem to have the timing down pretty good!
Please note that I use ONLY fish flakes and this review pertains for that type of fish food. We had a week's planned vacation and were debating between this product and some 7-day fish "tablets" available on the market. After reading multiple reviews we decided to go with this product. We are SO GLAD that we chose this. It does EXACTLY what it is advertised. It has multiple feeding schedules and it word for the 6 days we were away. The best part is, if you top off the bin, you can feed for up to 6 weeks, which is phenomenal, if you were to ever go away that long. I very highly recommend this product to anyone who has a aquarium and needs to feed their fish if they were to go away on a vacation.
Went for this one after reading online reviews. Its worth testing the feed size with little dishes and adjusting beforehand. Our tank has a rounded lid so took some working out to position the feeder. Decided to go with small pellets rather than flakes to avoid problems with moisture despite the built in fan. Had to feed outlet gap with sellotape to reduce each feed size.
I've been using mine to feed my 100 gallon reef tank 3-4 times a day every day for about 2.5 years. I've had zero issues and only changed the batteries once. A few suggestions for other reviewers: 1. Mounting options - like many reefers, I have a screen top on my tank. To create a feeder platform, I cut a 5" x 5" triangle of 3mm ABS plastic and used a few drops of coral glue to attach it to the frame of the screen lid, at the rear corner. When the feeder dispenses, the pellets drop right through the screen lid. The feeder also cannot fall into the tank. When I need to open the lid, I just set the feeder aside. 2. Getting pellets to sink - I added some 1" thick plastic blocking on my platform to raise the feeder higher. Getting pellets to sink - I added some 1" thick plastic blocking on my platform to raise the feeder higher. This makes the pellets hit the water faster and they tend to sink. It also helps to point a return outlet from your sump at the same corner where the feeder is located and then the pellets stay in that corner until they sink. 3. Size of opening for different foods - use a piece of electrical tape which will not fail in warm, wet conditions. Varying the placement of the tape, you can get exactly the amount of food you want from each feeding. 4. Food clumping - in my tank, the fish aggressively feed and splash water up to the feeder so raising the height like I described in #2 keeps it dry. Also be sure to clean out & dry the inside of the drum at least once a month. This keeps the food rotating and sliding freely. 5. Need on/off switch - there are two options for this. First, you can go through the program and turn off all the feeding times (I would only do this if I was taking the feeder out of service for a long time). Second and much easier, just pull the food drum off the feeder and set it aside. The drum will continue to rotate but you don't have to change your feeding program.
This fish feeder works great. Set time of feeding up to 4x a day, set amount, load food and you and your fish will be happy. Negative is the way that the attachment works with Velcro- could be a more stable design. However, I have 4 tanks and 4 rheumatoid. Don’t have to worry if I am away any time. Makes owning fish care free for vacation time.
