I've tried this shampoo many times since Aveda discontinued the previous Color hair product line, and I so wish I could love this one. It lathers well (have to add water, a lot) and leaves my hair soft. This one is way better than the rich formula, however it still feels like there is a lingering residue. My hair lacks the body, suppleness, and shine that Color Conserve delivered so well. Also, Color Control leaves my hair looking unruly and windblown. If I curl my hair, that helps a little. But the curl doesn't last too long with this product.I don't understand why Aveda discontinued Color Conserve. It was such an excellent formula for those of us with color treated hair. Dare we hope it might return one day?
I have been buying a range of Aveda products for decades including Colour Conserve. I have converted many friends through buying them Aveda products as gifts. Colour Control is clearly Colour Conserve's replacement. To say I am disappointed is an understatement! It is awful! It makes my hair feel like I haven't washed it in days. It also makes not only my hair but my hands feel odd when washing with it. I certainly will not be buying it again ... it feels like a very cheap shampoo, which it isn't. I bought 1000ml, most of which will now go to waste. It is making me think at looking, in the future, for another brand to use. I had to give it one star but I wouldn't even give it a star given the choice.

To borrow a phrase from Aveda's response to previous reviewers, Color Control products-including this "light" shampoo-are inferior in every way and "miss the mark." Clearly Aveda Color Conserve loyalists like me are underwhelmed and deeply disappointed at best with all of the changes. Like others, I dislike the new line for many reasons-performance, change in scent, price/value (much higher price for smaller container(s))-and have given the products enough tries (and dollars). I'm officially searching for a new line of hair products because I can't/won't use Aveda's anymore. Good job driving away great customers, Aveda! 👎🏼

I rarely write a negative review. I am a very loyal Aveda customer for about 30 years. This new formula smells like medicine to me and not at all natural or pleasant smelling. I can not wait to wash it out of my hair. I had been loyal to the Aveda Chamomile shampoo and conditioner for almost all of my many years using Aveda. It smelled natural, pleasant, and left the most beautiful highlights in my hair. Not sure why they discontinued it. Its a shame actually. I have been trying other Aveda products but most do not compare. Sorry Aveda.
I have been a VERY loyal Aveda customer - at least 25 years. I can't express how disappointed and sad I am that the Aveda that so many of us knew and loved is gone. I don't understand why you would discontinue the wonderful products so many of us relied on day after day. This is a TERRIBLE replacement for Color Conserve. Smells awful and leaves my hair dry and brittle. I've tried other Aveda products in an attempt to find something that works, and they all leave me disappointed. Not to mention the outrageous price increases. Whoever bought Aveda out - you've made a huge mistake by re-formulating and discontinuing products so many of us have loved for so long. Sad to say I won't be returning.
