Aveeno Baby Continuous Protection Sensitive Skin Zinc Oxide Sunscreen SPF 50 -- 3 fl oz

Some of my boys are extremely fair, and they spend all their time outdoors so sunscreen is a must. They often play in water so good water resistance is important to me for their sunscreen. I've tried a few brands and specially like this one as it gives good protection and doesn't cause any irritation. It's not greasy but takes a bit of time to work in and spread evenly. The zinc content initially creates a white filmy layer while it's going on skin. The white tint doesn't persist for too long though. I think it's actually an advantage over the clear and invisible sunscreens as the zinc helps you see where the sunscreen has been spread to ensure that you're providing complete coverage. Although it's made for the baby I use it on all the boys and myself too sometimes.

I bought this baby sunscreen lotion because it seemed to be the most natural one ingredients wise. However, the formula is so thick it’s like applying glue to his skin. I rub it in aggressively and it still always has a thick, white cast on his skin. Not to mention chasing my toddler around to apply it is difficult to begin with so I need something easy quick to apply. I wish it was a lighter lotion so it could be rubbed in easier.

Just noticed ours is expired but we used this ALL summer last year. Never a single sunburn other than on places I missed. This is a very very thick sunscreen. I don’t rub between my hands other than just to get some on each side, I coat it on the babies and they are white but as I work it in the white fades and it’s soaked into the skin. We’ve used this for 4-6 hours with no issues. We picked ours up at CVS. Honestly, this is my favorite sunscreen! I even used it myself a few times. Once it dries it doesn’t feel sticky. Do NOT use this on a baby

I got sun poisoning when I used this sunscreen & I was in the sun less than 2 hours and completely lathered in this sunscreen. My boyfriend even made a joke about how there is no way I could get sunburn. Well.. I had the worst sunburn of my life. Throwing up, blisters appeared, almost needed to go to the emergency room. 5 months later and every time I shower the sunburn shows up.. I cant wear high wasted pants without my sunburn spots feeling extremely irritated. I now need to go to dermatologist to see what I can do to fix the discomfort I am feeling. I can no longer trust Aveeno products. When I think Aveeno I used to thing gentle... not anymore. This could be a huge lawsuit coming if Aveeno does not take action. Good Mineral Sunscreen!

Although this is a baby sunscreen, I use it on my older skin. I'm not a fan of this product because of the white cast it leaves behind, but it does what it needs to and protects my skin from the sun. This is a very good quality mineral sunscreen with good ingredients but it doesn't absorb very well into my skin. Smells like baby powder. It has good packaging, good price for this size.

Good sunscreen

Bought the sunscreen as it is recommended for sensitive skin. So far no skin reaction but it is not tear free for my eyes. Package size can last for some time with daily sparingly use as the mineral ingredient does leave white cast. Overall quality is good, no outbreaks and the formulation is not oily too. Need to rub it in well to prevent white patches and the smell is abit plasticky but tolerable.

Known Carcinogens!

In July 2021, Johnson & Johnson recalled certain Neutrogena and Aveeno sunscreen products after third-party testing revealed the presence of benzene. Benzene is a known human carcinogen associated with leukemia, lymphoma, and other blood-related cancers. Please do not buy this for your babies! I threw mine away after purchasing it in early 2021 for my newborn. Will not trust this brand anymore, commercial products are increasingly becoming more risky.

I am an older adult - "Irish red" - with basal cell history - live in mid Maryland - got he product the week of 5-1-18, had a few days of 80 - 90 degree full or mostly sunny days. I normally avoid the sun altogether, wearing total clothing coverage, wide brim hats, and zinc ointment on my lips if I do go out during the day (cutting the grass). I even do most of my outdoor yard work in pre dawn hours. Thought would put the product to the full test. I chose a day with no clouds, upper 80, lower 90s - went out mid day with a T-shirt, long pants, small cap hat to cover my scalp and hair, work gloves ( took to working in the yard where no shade for exactly 80 minutes ) even timed it. I put the lotion on exposed arms, ears, face, neck (front and back). With a poor or no sun screen at all - I would normally already be showing a developing (bad) burn with this type of exposure. When I ended my time it the sun - I could see my face and exposed arms were a "flushed" color - I was hoping and assuming from working in the heat for the 80 minutes. Got inside, cooled down and the flush color had disappeared - didn't want to claim any victories until I gave my skin several hours to see if a burn was going to show up. Waited 5 hours, took a shower and voila - no evidence of any kind of skin color change. I considered this a big win knowing my skin the way I do. Would highly recommend for any age - it is noted Pediatrician recommended. From my own personal experience - I would recommend careful use of any and all product on the very young - even in the shade, most skin covered - just face exposed, under an umbrella their tender skin can pick up the burn of sun rays just from reflecting from other objects, e.g., sand is a big one. Their tiny cheeks can pick up a bad burn that won't show up til late in a day - frequent application - follow any doctor instruction for the very young. A tan sure looks good - get it out of a bottle or tube!!!!! (just from experience)

Our Go To Sunscreen For Our One Year Old!

We prefer lotion sunscreen over spray because although not as easy to apply as spray sunscreen, it does not get breathed in during the application. We love Aveeno brand and this sunscreen is amazing. My daughter has fair skin that burns easily and even when we accidentally go past the application window, she has not had one burn since we've been using it (since Oct. 2022). The only downside is that it is very thick and hard to rub in. You really have to work it into the skin or your baby will be pasty white. However, of the formula were any lighter, it probably wouldn't work as good which is why I still believe it earns 5 stars. I always feel confident that this won't wash off or won't protect my baby. good for sensitive skin, but bad for medium to dark skin
