I’ve been on a mission to find the best tinted zinc sunscreen for my melasma, without breaking the bank. I have oily skin, especially in the t-zone, and the first time I used this, I thought it was way too greasy. But after looking at a few different products, I decided to give this another try. I learned that applying it on bare, freshly washed skin (no moisturizer) and then being patient to let it dry down works very well for me. This is moisturizing on its own (kind of the point of all those ceramides), and it takes a while for the moisturizer to absorb. Once it does, I get a powdery finish that’s not too matte. So I absolutely recommend this for oily skin—just be patient and try it on freshly cleaned skin. This one did make the skin around my nose and eyes a little red the first time I used it, but I’ve learned that as long as I’m maintaining my skin’s moisture barrier, I can use this without a problem. Any slight sting is an indication to me that I need some cica balm that night, and then everything’s fine the next day.

CeraVe Mineral Sunscreen is one of the worst sunscreens on the market. For starters, it leaves an awful white cast on the skin. I know this because reviews on Amazon have shared multiple pictures of women with white casts, and comments such as “The white cast is very strong which left me disappointed.” .Even though some women haven’t gotten a white cast due to their very light complexion, they experienced slight blue-like discoloration. Another reason is that it doesn’t blend in well at all. I know because on the CeraVe website, the reviews are 3.2 out of 5 stars. Customers explain how “...you really need to take little bits of it ...not too much…. ”, and I know this is true with my personal experience with the product, as I was left rubbing it in for 15 minutes ... MoreCeraVe Mineral Sunscreen is one of the worst sunscreens on the market. This also defeats the purpose because the CDC recommends putting on a thick layer before going out.

This product is a horrible experience from start to finish. First of all, the bottle is so messy to use and it gets everywhere, including all over your hands, bathroom, and clothes. Second, It doesn't blend properly without a makeup sponge, which I didn't previously own and had to purchase. This product also is so disgustingly oily that literally within 2-3 hours of wear my face was embarrassingly greasy and oily. Also this product comes off on everything (masks, collars of shirts, sleeves, etc.) but does not come off of your hands with soap upon washing and, by the time I took a makeup wipe to it, it seemed like it had ... MoreI was really going to try to suck it up and use the whole bottle because it was pretty pricey for how much I hate this product, but I CAN'T. This stuff is amazing and I hope CeraVe never stops making it. It's slowly replacing my foundation as my skin improves. This tinted sunscreen is almost like a CC cream but better for your skin and a fraction of the cost of any CC cream worth buying. CeraVe has always provided amazing affordable products and this is no exception. It's not tinted enough to have difficulty with shade matching, but it's tinted enough to diminish some of my old acne scars. If you are very light skinned, this will probably not blend very well, but if that's the case then you probably don't need tint in your facial sunscreen! It goes on very dewy and dries down to a semi-matte. It's gotten to the point where I'm barely wearing foundation anymore. I bought this because I'm always looking for sun protection, and this met some key criteria for me:*No obvious silicones (they are under so many names, I might have missed one, but I didn't see any of my usual culprits),*No added fragrance, and*Mineral sunscreenSo far I like it. It's not quite as heavy as some sunscreens I've tried, but it is a bit thick-ish due to the physical blockers (that's what I'm guessing). It imparts a bit of a dewy, diffused glow. If you prefer matte finishes, you're going to need to powder this or look elsewhere. This "dewy" look could easily veer into oily or greasy looks on some people, but because I'm 50, it softens some lines and makes my skin look moisturized and not oily. That's a win for me.The tint is kind of forgiving, but ... MoreI bought this because I'm always looking for sun protection, and this met some key criteria for me:*No obvious silicones (they are under so many names, I might have missed one, but I didn't see any of my usual culprits),*No added fragrance, and*Mineral sunscreenSo far I like it. If you have a darker complexion, I'm not sure it would work, either. Supposedly it blends without a white cast, but since I'm light-skinned it's not really an issue for me.Staying power seems decent, but my plan is to reapply every two or three hours if I'm spending time outside. It seems to wash off pretty well, too, though I'm religious about toner after cleansing to make sure all makeup is gone.

This product shocked me. When I first put it on, WOW so buttery, moisturizing and luxurious formula on the skin. It also gives a LOT of coverage, not at all what I expected from this product. I would say literally medium to almost full- depending on how much you put on. I applied the two finger rule and I got a hearty medium coverage. Personally I don't necessarily want that all the time, but it looked beautiful on the skin, so would be good for heavy makeup days. However... once it came time to take this stuff off, man it was difficult. Took TWO ROUNDS of my cleansing balm, AND cleanser, to take it off. That's never happened before with a sunscreen for me. They aren't pimples, almost like hives. That morning I noticed there's SALICYLIC ACID in this???? Why is there an exfoliant in my sunscreen? Especially a "hydrating" one at that, that doesn't promise a super matte finish (which is good cuz I avoid that). I'm assuming that's what gave my skin these burn-like reactions... I'm so sad :( (nothing wrong with BHA in general, I just have really sensitive skin and i can't handle the use of it frequently.) If you don't have sensitive skin, you'll probably love this. It's too bad, it truly is a nice product... until you take it off :(

I wanted to like this so badly. I only heard great things from YouTubers and online reviewers, and the price point is great. For comparison, I have sensitive normal/dry skin and my favorite tinted sunscreen is the Australian Gold SPF 50 Tinted Mineral Sunscreen. That sunscreen dries down to a matte finish and does not move. The CeraVe item description states it gives a radiant finish, and I didn't think the non-water resistant feature would be a deal breaker, but oh boy... The plus side of this is it does have a lot of coverage and can work as a light foundation, but personally I despise the way it feels on my skin, and it's only pleasant when I use a teeny amount that I worry may not fully protect my skin. This sunscreen led me to start trying non tinted mineral sunscreens which I've been loving. I recommend the Australian Gold or Bliss tinted mineral sunscreens first even though they're slightly more expensive.

Its the only sunscreen that doesn't burn my eyes. I live on the water in Florida. I've tried loads of sunscreens and there are some higher end brands like estee lauder which also work for me, but this is a bargain. I buy 3 of these every spring. Keep one in the garage for yard work. One in my room for any day I know I'll be in sun. One in my beach/boat bag. If I'm going out to a ball game etc, I apply this all over my face & eyes (i use eye cream first). Let it soak in at least 5 minutes, wipe off my dark eye brows (it seems to collect there) then apply something with a tint, preferably also with sunscreen, but probably not 50. It's perfect and lasts for many hours even in hot weather. When I know I cant avoid direct sun, I also wear a hat. If Im at a ball game, I ... MoreIts the only sunscreen that doesn't burn my eyes. It's perfect and lasts for many hours even in hot weather. When I know I cant avoid direct sun, I also wear a hat. If Im at a ball game, I reapply the tinted cream. If Im boating, I apply this every 2 hours, yes, it's white, but my skin looks pretty darn good for 50+ yrs old raised in the sunshine state. My favorite tinted moisturizer with spf is Algenist. Bare minerals has something similar which also does not burn my eyes. This sunscreen is also sweat proof!

You are applying this wrong... It works!

Don't sleep on this... If you are complaining about the white cast try thinking outside the box as I did. To not have the white cast, I first wash my face before applying or wet it thoroughly with warm/hot water to open my pores. Next, mix a little of the sunscreen with cerave moisturizing face lotion (or something of your choice) and rub together in your hands evenly. Apply to your full face with both hands and rub into face a few seconds as your face begins to dry. And Viola!!! Problem solved for me at least. This product is best used on a wet face, so that it absorbs more quickly, evenly, and with out the white cast. I'm medium brown skin and it works this way for me. Of course, a little bit goes a long way, so don't use too much product or you may still get a slight cast. However, as the face absorbs the sunscreen and moisturizer, as it dries, the white cast will fade a bit and won't be as predominant like it would be if you apply this product on dry skin. Fresh out the shower, apply all over before your body completely dries. Moisture and open pores is the key with this.

nice, unscented, healthy, tinted sunscreen

Nice texture -- silky but not oily. It leaves more of a dewy, than an oily look. It's unscented, and water-based with none of the unhealthy ingredients that are already banned in other countries, but that can be sold legally in US cosmetics. It also contains some good ingredients such as niacinamide. The tint works for my light skin. It looks dark when it comes out of the tube but blended in well and has just enough pigment to even skintone without looking like you are wearing makeup. (For reference, my skin tone is about the same as Neutrogena Healthy Skin products in Fair to Light 20 tone.) It has a warm undertone, so would probably be better for people with the same. I'm not sure if it would leave a light cast for darker skin tones, but I don't believe it would ... MoreNice texture -- silky but not oily. It leaves more of a dewy, than an oily look. I'm not sure if it would leave a light cast for darker skin tones, but I don't believe it would leave that ghostly white cast some zinc oxide sunscreens do. I've been trying a bunch of mineral sunscreens and this one is a good one for me. Hope this info helps!
