This product was reasonably price and did its job. Wish it could fit slightly more items in it. We did end up selling it however because we found out from medical professionals that there is no longer any need to sterilize bottles if hot soapy water is used. So we started using the dishwasher instead with dishwasher safe bottles. I like how quick this product could sterilise multiple items. I like that it could conveniently be placed in the microwave as well. I think we bought this product from Baby Bunting but can't remember. I think the brand makes good quality items for bubs.

I've had this for just over a week and wanted to give it a good try before reviewing. I'm very happy with this steam sterilizer. The size is great, you can fit a ton of stuff in here and having the 2 compartments to use allows you to set it up for whatever you're needing to sterilize. If you need to store on your counter it looks nice, sleek and clean. If it needs to be stored in a cupboard being able to take it apart into the 3 sections allows for easy storage (I put the smaller compartment on the base and store the bigger compartment beside it). The 130ml of water needed is a rather odd number, its easy enough to measure out on the bottle but most bottles have the ounces marked so 120ml would be a better number for ease of use as it's more obviously marked on bottles. When the unit is running the sterilization setting its so quiet you forget it's even running. The dryer setting is a bit louder but still very quiet. And the time frame for running a sterilize and dry is very fast. I much prefer popping everything into this unit than taking the time to boil on the stove and end up dripping all over the counter when emptying. The only 3 things I've noticed that are negatives. The seals for my pump don't dry all the way inside the rim so I have to give them a quick dry when they come out. There will be a bit of residual water left in the unit so you need to dump it out and quickly wipe the 2 chambers and the base to dry it. And the included tongs are basically useless. They are far too small and if you're trying to get things out when it's hot your hand is basically in the unit. I prefer just using my normal kitchen tongs. But half the time I don't use tongs at all so it's really not a big negative. This unit is a massive time saver and is so easy to use. I feel it's worth every penny and would recommend it to anyone looking for a sterilizer with dry function.

This sterilizer is compact and fits really nicely on our single sink vanity in the bathroom, keeping us from having to go downstairs to the kitchen for clean bottles. We set up a “bottle cleaning station” upstairs in our townhome and this has been a great time saver for making sure bottles are dry and ready to go again. Our system is to rinse the bottles after feeding, put them on the drying rack, then hand wash, rinse, and put into the sterilizer/dryer once there’s a full load. The only drawback is you have to run the dryer setting a few times to make sure everything is fully dry, but it’s still way faster than using a dishwasher (which won’t get them dry anyway) or air drying.

I’m only not posting media because I owned this product a couple of years ago and I no longer own it. Needless to say, I absolutely loved this steam sterilizer. I used one for all three of my babies, and it was extremely effective! It was a great size, with the capacity to hold multiple bottles, tops, nipples, pacifiers etc. and was very easy to clean! I 10/10 recommend this sterilizer. Philips was our go-to brand for many baby items!

I received a free sample of the Philips Avent SCF281/05 Microwave Steam Sterilizer to review I was curious to find out if there were appreciable differences. After using it for over a week, I can definitely say that there are several things that I really like about this microwave sterilizer. First, the size is just right, not too big and not too small. The construction is quite sturdy while still being lightweight. One feature that I really like is the locking system: while assuring a better sterilization it will also avoid spills of hot water when you remove it from the microwave and you handle it right after use.

We have this for sterilizing our infants bottles. This works wonderfully. First, just wash bottles, then place in bottom in bottle section. The top section is a nice basket for the bottle accessories. We can sterilize 6 -8 bottles at a time, with room for nipples assemblies in top. Takes about 20 minutes to sterilize and dry. The bottom section comes off to place distilled water. All of this is so easy. We used to boil on stove or place in dishwasher and this just is better. The only must is if you do not use distilled water you have to demineralize frequently with the risk of ruining the appliance. Several other family members own this and are also very happy. Would recommend

Very easy to use and transport, super practical and efficient! We used it for about 3 years and I must say that after all this time it was still in perfect condition, so we gifted it to a friend for her baby. Read and follow the instructions, and you will have sterile bottles in no time! It has a big capacity, it can be used for different type of bottles and pacifiers and it is our recommendation for all the parents! The best!

A great product with many pros and a few cons

I am the father of a sweet (and hungry) 7 months old girl and washing and sterilizing bottles is a (multi)daily routine. Talking about cons, the pre-set spaces are useful only if you use only Philips Avent bottles. While the sterilizer works well also with bottles from other brands, a flat surface would have been much better! Also, the tongs are totally useless, they are small and I was never able to use them efficiently to really grab anything Overall, I like the Philips Avent Microwave Steam sterilizer much better than the one I own. It is sturdy, the color is nice and the locking system is great, even if I would have preferred a design allowing a higher versatility when mixing and matching with bottles of other brands.

Easy to use, great for travelling

I was surprised at how easy this machine is to use. I have previously been using an electric model by a different brand, and whilst I loved it, there are a few features this model has over the electric which I found to be a real benefit.I liked the fact that the sterilise time is only 4 minutes (varies +/- 2 mins depending on microwave power). It's also very simple to use, only needing to add water alongside the bottles and then pop into the microwave. So eliminating the need to select appropriate sterilising cycles or complicated options.A few other positives are that it is great for travelling - So as long as wherever you're going has a microwave, you can easily sterilise your baby's bottles and other small items as needed. So eliminating the need to select appropriate sterilising cycles or complicated options.A few other positives are that it is great for travelling - So as long as wherever you're going has a microwave, you can easily sterilise your baby's bottles and other small items as needed. It's very easy to clean, with only three pieces, and no wires to try and work around when washing. One negative I did find however was that the machine is clearly made to only fit Avent bottles. Which OK I get that it's an Avent product, but my other branded model is compatible with any type of bottle, so I could easily alternate between a couple of different cups and bottles we have in the house without needing to worry about whether they'd fit in the steriliser. With this model, of the four different non-Avent bottles I have at home, only one style fit inside well - All others were either too tall or they fell over when trying to move it to the microwave as they don't balance well inside the unit. There is a small circle lip meant for the bottles to sit in, which allows Avent bottles to be supported standing up - But non-Avent models are either too big or too small for this lip, and therefore are unbalanced whilst inside the unit. This meant that I could only sterilise two or three bottles at a time. Whereas my electric model could sterilise 6 bottles plus additional bits such as dummies and medicine spoons. Finally, I found that whilst the unit fit fine in my family sized microwave, it did not fit in my parents smaller microwave. And therefore couldn't be used. So you do need to have a large microwave in order to fit this in due to the height. In summary, a good model for everyday use. Easy to clean, and great for travelling. But possibly not suitable if you're using non-Avent bottles, or have a small microwave at home.

This is all you need!

I love this product! Do not waste your money on the larger 'counter top' automatic sterilizers! I learned the hard way: I bought this microwave sterilizer as well as a larger counter top sterilizer, and I *much* prefer this microwave one (which was half the price)! It's perfect. It's a fair price and if you are exclusively bottle feeding you will get your money's worth within just a week! I love that it's large enough to sterilize 4-5 bottles and lids at one time, but small enough that you can easily tuck it away somewhere and not have it taking up a ton of space in your kitchen. Super easy to use, and only about 3 mins to fully sterilize in a standard microwave. Definitely recommend!
