Avene Thermal Water is an ultra-fine thermal water mist. It claims to have a unique mineral composition and postbiotics (think of probiotics, they produce metabolites called postbiotics!) in its thermal water which makes it hydrating to the skin. I have dry, sensitive skin and I found it worked best as my first toner in my AM and PM routines. Once I finished cleansing, I would spray this liberally on my face and neck before applying actives and serums. It is also great as a facial mist throughout the day, especially in hot weather, after reapplying sunscreen or powder (applying a mist after powdering gives the skin a 'skin-like' look, not too dewy, just hydrated). The pros: this is perfect for dry, sensitive skin and it truly did soften my skin! It feels like when ... MoreAvene Thermal Water is an ultra-fine thermal water mist. The cons: although I loved it, the price for the product outweighs its benefits compared to toners/serums formulated with actives (like hyaluronic acid, licorice root, etc) that softened my skin AND gave it additional benefits. I feel like this product would be great as an 'in addition to' product, but I love my toners and serums being pack full of actives!

I was skeptical at first, but after buying a bottle at Ulta while they had a nice coupon going on I’m convinced that this will be an essential step to my skincare routine! Your skin absorbs other products better when it’s still wet. I love how fine the mist is from this bottle, and it’s literally just nice water. After patting it in it dries within a few minutes minute and leaves my face feeling baby soft and smooth. I also spray before putting on skin soothing toner, then my face lotion, layering while my face is still wet. There’s also no smell to it, so it really is perfect for people with sensitive skin.

I don't know how this product works, but it REALLY does. I'm a licensed esthetician and am skeptical of any skincare product that makes bold claims - especially one that's simply composed of water.Since the weather has dropped in temperature and the air has become drier, I've been battling with a flare up of perioral dermatitis. I've dealt with it on and off all my life, but it's tricky to treat. For the last month I've had an increasingly irritated, inflamed, peeling rash on my chin despite scaling back on products and using different soothing treatments.I didn't believe this product would work, but I decided to give anything a shot at this point for some relief. I simply spray this on my face after the shower and immediately top it with a gentle moisturizer at ... MoreI don't know how this product works, but it REALLY does. I was skeptical. It is water. It is not a laser. It is not a high priced cream formulated by a trendy dermatologist. What is water going to do? Golly, was I proven wrong! I have much sun damage from being a child growing up in the late 70s and early 80s in California. Sunscreen? What's that? "Pass the Ban De Soliel for the Sun" as the commercials went. In the late 80s and early 90s I was a swimmer. I discovered sunscreen, but then became a distance swimmer. You can't exactly stop and reapply sunscreen in the middle of an ocean swim or you get disqualified if you touch the boat. I was young and stupid and about sun protection. I have a lot of sun damage from being young and stupid. Now as a cancer survivor I have a few large slit scars from surgery. The one on my ... MoreI was skeptical. It is water. It is not a laser. I have a lot of sun damage from being young and stupid. Now as a cancer survivor I have a few large slit scars from surgery. The one on my neck from my thyroidectomy REALLY bothers me. This water is healing my skin!!! Again, it is just the thermal mineral and prebiotic water. It is miraculous! My skepticism was proven out the window! It is healing my sun damage. It is lessening the appearance of and softening my surgical scars. It is a God send for eczema flares and otherwise irritated or angry skin. How did I make it into my mid forties never hearing or this product or using it before? If you were skeptical like me, give it a go. You'll never be more pleased you were proven wrong. This is not only a "game changer" as some over say it is a watery miracle. Now I believe the people who go to the destinations for the healing waters. I'm saving up for trip to the Avene spa myself. It is safe for we of the supersensitive skin. It is safe for we cancer patients. Check with your doctor before hand/I am not a doctor nor doling out medical advice but I would spray this on a radiation burn zebra stripe without hesitating. Same with a sun burn. It is the ONLY thing now I used during an eczema flare up or summer mosquito bite. To summarize: I'm a former skeptic now preaching this product.
When I first discovered Avène this spray seemed pretty much like a gimmick to me, although they did state there was clinical research demonstrating the effectiveness of the mineral composition to calm redness, so I thought I would give it a try. I wouldn’t say it’s like a miracle, but it is extremely refreshing to use any time, and extremely effective in helping the products I apply to go further/need less, as well as noticeably helps to cause the products to absorb into my skin. There is a stark difference when I apply a serum or moisturizer without this mist (tacky, much remains on surface of skin and takes longer), versus with the thermal spring mist (smooth coverage of product, quick absorption and very nice texture on surface of skin after). There is a stark difference when I apply a serum or moisturizer without this mist (tacky, much remains on surface of skin and takes longer), versus with the thermal spring mist (smooth coverage of product, quick absorption and very nice texture on surface of skin after). I know there are plenty of other hydrating mists on the market, I have some that I really like, but buying more and more products from Avène to care for my sensitive and reactive skin, I find that I am more wary of using the other hydrating mists I have liked in the past, because they contain fragrances and other ingredients (some really great, some that are likely just for the overall formulation and not specifically for skin care). The thermal spring mist, however, is *just* mineral water. It feels very cool and refreshing, and since it has no other ingredients in it, i know I can use it any time and not worry about crossing a threshold of ingredient application on my sensitive skin. The spray mechanism on the bottle has a lot of power, and I only need a couple light touches to fully cover my face and neck which is great, because I know this bottle will last a while. I really, really like it and will keep using it!
At 42, I began to deal with cystic/nodular acne. So, my dermatologist prescribed me acne treatments (Doxycycline, Clindamycin topical gel, retinol) to treat my acne. The treatments caused my skin to react by becoming dry, flaky and itchy. Redness on my cheeks also appeared. This moisturizer targeted these reactions amazingly well. It soothes my skin - reduces redness and itchy skin and hydrates my skin - removes my dry and flaky skin! After applying this moisturizer, I can easily apply my makeup without any of these skin irritations. All of my skin's reactions from the treatments are gone - like magic! I use in combination with the Cleanance Hydra soothing face wash and thermal spring water toner spray. The scent of the products are amazing too! Would recommend to ... I discovered this line while visiting my local Ulta to make a quick pick up of an item I needed for that evening. I have been dealing with very bothered skin that has been so uncomfortable. I tried using a gentle face mist that I already had but it only irritated my face even more with the added bonus of stinging. YAY. I was a light to grab a different spring water mist when I saw this line in the same aisle. I am so happy I gave this a try. I immediately felt relief and have been using this regularly since the day I purchased. My skin has since calmed down so I think I will give other items from this line a try!
