B+W Master 010 UV Haze The UV-Haze #010 MRC MASTER Filter from B+W blocks UV light, which can cause blurring and a blueish cast. An invisible component of daylight, UV light is more intense in pure sea air and high mountain regions. This filter is color-neutral and can be kept on your lens even when you don't need it, simply to protect the front of the lens. The filter element is made of glass and is highly transparent. Featuring B+W's MRC nano coating, the filter has an extremely low reflection. The optical information remains unaffected when it reaches the image sensor. The hydrophobic coating reduces the adhesion tendency of dirt particles and water droplets. With MRC nano coating, a water droplet remains practically spherical. It rolls over the surface, and a first-rate dirt- and water-repellent effect occurs.

Value For Money:GreatBest Feature(s):Authentic and great buildProduct Quality:ExcellentI have used other makes of filter and some results in "strange light lines" in photos under certain conditions. Therefore I am convinced filters are not just a piece of glass, and all glasses are the same. No, they aren't.Seller packs & delivers fast. Item arrived much earlier than the expected delivery date. Kudos!

Without spending nearly triple the money on a Leica filter, this Schneider BW filter gives the quality, dependability, and optical quality that I personally appreciate on the front of my 50 Summicron. I bought this to replace a filter that saved a lens that took a tumbled down a hill with me. I got just as many bruises and scraps as the front of the prior filter - but the filter saved the lens from permanent damage. This new filter will stay on the front of my 50 for that very reason.

Every single lens that I own has a B+W UV filter on it both for the filtering of UV but primarily as a protector of the front lens element. Since I do a lot of landscape and bird photography, my camera and lenses are out in some unfriendly places. I'd rather replace a scratched filter than a scratched lens. In addition, having the filter in place means that I never have to clean the front lens element and risk lens coating damage.

The Master series is (from what I can tell) optically identical to the XS-Pro MRC nano it replaces. The nano coating is the same, as are the transmission stats. B+W moved all the type to the front of the filter and gave the ring larger ridges for grip, akin to the Breakthrough X4 series. They increased the prices about 30% and now ship the filters bare in a coarse cloth bag. Their marketing spin is plastic-free (and that is something I support), but this is a pure cost cutting measure that will give you headaches. The filters (I recently bought three of various sizes) arrive coated in dust and sometimes dirt likely deposited by the bag. It takes about 30-45 minutes of painstaking cleaning with wet and dry wipes to get them not quite as good as they used to arrive ... MoreThe Master series is (from what I can tell) optically identical to the XS-Pro MRC nano it replaces. It takes about 30-45 minutes of painstaking cleaning with wet and dry wipes to get them not quite as good as they used to arrive from factory-and you pay a lot more for this new privilege.I don't like having to use filters at all. I don't for studio work, but if I'm shooting travel or location work in uncontrolled environments, I'll put the best filter I can in front of expensive glass. A microfiber bag that doubled as a cleaning cloth might feel appropriately premium and solve the issue of shipping a dirty filter. I won't be purchasing any B+W filters going forward. At the new prices, Heliopan filters are no longer significantly more expensive, and I have always put them in my best lenses (Zeiss and a few others). That's the best filter you can buy in my opinion. If you can find them in the right size, Hoya's HD3 filters are excellent and ship clean. I also found Breakthrough's X4 ND series and polarizers excellent. They are 16-layer nano coated, use Schott glass and have 25 year guarantees. If it helps, here's some quick background on me-I have worked as a professional photographer and creative director for over 20 years. My work has been featured in various publications, including covers of Elle Decor among others.
This UV filter is installed as a protective glass in front of the front element of a very expensive lens. All of my lenses have the B&W MRC Pro (older model name) or Master (current name, same filter) UV filters. There’s no discernible color shift - but if there was, at least it would be identical.B&W’s MRC-coated filters seem to reject dust and if anything does get on the filter, it’s easily wiped off. I appreciate the brass threads and rings and their tr. No binding, no galling with any of my lenses.
I remember when these filters were sold for a very good price. I used to purchase and stock by the dozen! LOL. Few years ago I was buying any mint Nikkor Ai-S vintage glass I could find and this filter is in front of all of it. My count now is 56 vintage Nikkor glasses. I purchased the Z6 with the FTZ adapter to shoot with these glasses. Nowadays, I still purchase B+W filters to couple on my Z lenses. The filter is high quality and made in Germany. The metal part is brass, not aluminum. The coating and the glass is top notch second to none. Highly recommend it. I live in AZ and love to purchase from B&H for they ship it fast and free! Can't go wrong with them!
I ordered 14 of the B+W MCR nano MASTER filters. Roughly half of the filters in the original order were scratched, so I returned them for exchange. I read recent reviews regarding how B+W filters are now packaged in a cloth bag vs the traditional hard cased plastic container. Many reviewers indicated the new packaging left lint covering the filter, creating lots of work to clean the filter prior to use. I mention this up front as those comments caused me to hesitate purchasing additional B+W filters. After some additional research and reflecting on the positive experiences I've had with B+W filters I decided to stick with their products. I'm happy to report the filters arrived in good condition, with no lint, despite being packaged in a cloth bag. Maybe I was lucky or possibly the manufacturer has made changes to address the issue. Bottom line, I am happy with my decision and look forward to continued good ... MoreI read recent reviews regarding how B+W filters are now packaged in a cloth bag vs the traditional hard cased plastic container. This is most likely the same one as the XS-pro lineup, but with increased price. What I hate is, with the increased price, they also manage to make the packaging cheaper. In stead of a case for this premium filter, they just have this little pouch or bag (looks nice tho, but is absolutely horrible in terms of funtionality), and just directly put the filter into it. My lord. There is absolutely no protection for the filter whatsoever. There was not even a piece of paper that stops the pouch scratching the filter, not to mention something like glasses cloth. When I pulled the filter out, dusts were everywhere on both sides of the filter. I purchased the milter to protect my lens, not to put even more dusts on my lens's front element. But at least the package should not present this premium item in such a damaging way.I will NEVER consider buying this again if they don't change this package. No matter how good the coating is, there are dusts that just stick there. COME ON! If you buy this, all you get is a filter full of dusts. I was so shocked that I had to write this at 2AM.
Amazing ‘Nano’ technology that treats your image as if there is nothing there to impair original quality. Read the technical specs and design revelation for this filter is almost mind boggling in concept. I can state for sure by results this filter will silence those who insist that filters intrude upon clear image reproduction through the lens glass by adding another layer of glass. Not so with this filter. Do your own comparison and see if you can detect and infringement on image clarity and quality. This filter is a sound investment in haze reduction for extreme telephoto work where highest quality standards must be maintained.
