Once you embrace the quality of Breathalyzer's line-up, especially their higher end devices and purchase one you start to wonder how you ever got on without one. The S80 works exactly as described and it is indispensable, not just for on the spot use but for compiling over time how you metabolise drinks in different conditions. It also shows you just how little you often can consume before you should be calling that Uber/Taxi. I legitimately think their devices should be as common in all cars as the radio.

Unfortunately I bought one because my partner is an alcoholic and had started lying about when they were drinking. if you're in the same boat, buy this. Seriously. It's extremely accurate it doesn't give false readings if they just used something like mouthwash for example. I finally have had peace of mind for the last month since buying and using this. And because my partner knows how accurate this is (even just having one shot, or one beer hours ago) they know they can't sneak alcohol, it's stopped the drinking. at least for now. It's just routine for now to get home and use this and it's a way for them to have some reliable accountability.

This is the second one I have purchased, first one for me, second one for my son. As long as the readings are accurate, it works great. I use it mostly at home, to judge how drinking affects my level and keep it in the car to check before I drive. Would never drive over .03, It seems there is a difference between the first test I do and the 2nd and 3rd. Seems to stabilize on 2 and 3. Would recommend you do 2 tests "just to be sure"
Bought this to help me confirm what I suspected, regarding a family member's alcoholism, a family member who lives with me. With his assent to being tested, I was able to confront all the denial and dishonesty that comes with an addictive illness, and now we are able to move forward, hopefully, to a more positive future. Thank you, BACtrack. And, the product is very easy to use (unless the person you're testing is too inebriated to take a deep breath and blow!)
I mainly bought this so I could make a more educated guess at when too much is TOO MUCH. It is also kinda fun when you're just enjoying without any responsibilities. All my friends seem to find it quite amusing that I bought it. I'm like, well, the cost of finding out where you're at through normal channels isn't exactly a good course of action. This is a much better alternative. LoL
After earning a DWI, I bought one of Bactrack S80 to make sure it doesn't happen again. A couple of years ago, I sent it in for calibration, and during the time I didn't have it, I got my car stuck in a snowbank during a whiteout, and got my second DWI. The consequences for 2nd DWI in my state are fierce and the cost is high. Of course, the main issue is that I don't want to harm myself or others. I bought a second unit to make sure I'm never without a means to check my BAC before driving.It doesn't take a high BAC to get in trouble on the road, even if something minor happens that requires police involvement. The nature of drinking is that it's very difficult to gauge your own level of intoxication, so be safe and get your own S80 Breathalyzer.
Received the Baxtrack 2 days ago. Tested it earlier tonight at a bar, later at home. Before buying the s80, I read the lowest rating reviews. Fyi, I always read the lowest rated reviews first. Tonight, I had the chance to test the t80. I followed the instructions and waited 20 minutes after smoking, drinking, etc. The reading was dead accurate each time. After receiving the reading, I waited a few minutes and tried it afain. Each time, I received exactly the same BAC. After I got home, I tezted it again after having a few mixed drinks. My BAC in increased but stay consistent after 3 consecutive test 5 minutes apart. I expected + /- of 0.001 but each reading was exactly the same. Recommend increasing the blowing time for anyone who gets inconsistent results. I'm giving 4 stars rather than 5 because the s80 is NOT realistically portable unless you have a backpack or purse. You can't stash the s80 in your coat, jacket or pants pocket. This means that you need to either bring the conspicuous carry case into the bar. Yes, the s80 comes withb really nice case but you have to carry it like a purse because its too large for your pockets. So it's a highly accurate device but you'll look like a full blown alcoholic if you bring it into a bar then use it in public. If you care what strangers think, then it's better to test yourself in the privacy of a restroom or somewhere outside. That said, this device is well worth the price, regardless of calibration intervals, if you frequent bars and wish to avoid a DWI/DUI. I'm planning on buying the smaller keychain version for testing inside the bar, then using the s80 to later reaffirm the results. If you have any trepidation over the price of the s80, then reaearch the average cost of a DWI. Seriously, who cares if you need to recalibrate or replace it every 9-12 months. CONCLUSION: HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Drive safe.

This is different from cheaper units, where I was more often surprised by the reading.But after a year's use, it was starting to read 10-20% different from a new s80 I bought to compare. And sometimes it would give a reading several times the correct value. So clearly it is time for a calibration.I learned some tricks: rinsing out the mouth with water will lower the reading by approx 20%. Like everyone else, I like to go out and drink socially. But to be safe, I limit the number of drinks and use this device to make sure that it's safe to drive. It gave me peace of mind knowing my limits. Just be sure to wait at least twenty minutes after your last sip or bite to check your BAC. Every once in a while, I buy something that is worth every penny--a good investment. This is one of them.
