Bananagrams Game

(941 reviews)

Bananagrams is a game for all the Scrabble lovers out there that don't always have time for a full game. It's basically Speed Scrabble without the need for a board. The game consists of 144 letter tiles. The tiles are placed face down in the centre of the table and each player takes 21 tiles. When everybody is ready one player will call a start to the game and each player then plays simultaneously trying to arrange their tiles into words. These words can be arranged crossword like, so that some letters can be used in more than one word. As soon as one player has used all his tiles, he lets the other players know and all players must then take an additional tile to add to their collection. Now you may have to rearrange you words in order to incorporate the new tile. Play continues until there are fewer tiles in the centre of the table than there are players, then the first player to use all of his tiles is the winner. Bananagrams is for 2 to 8 players ages 7 and up and plays in about 15 minutes.

One of the easiest games to carry around with you. Tiles are virtually unbreakable and the cloth bag with zipper is sturdy. Easy to tuck into your purse, backpack, or luggage. Anagrams is perfect for rainy vacation days, or use them uniquely to help you create SAT/GRE words for studying.

Bunch of fun! Get it? Haha

Definitely a lot of fun! Got this for a friend after having bought two previous versions for us and for some cousins. Everybody loves playing it and end up spending hours at a time! Helps you learn new words and while not exactly scrabble, knowing a bunch of two letter words come in handy when you're trying to win! We had 10 year olds and 50 year olds at the same table and everyone had a lot of fun. Gameplay is really easy. Everyone gets a fixed number of tiles to start with, with the remaining ones in the center. You work on using up all your provided tiles and when the first person is done, they yell "peel". Every time someone uses up all their tiles (and it goes fast after the initial period), you yell "peel" with the aim of using up all the tiles in the center ... MoreDefinitely a lot of fun! Enjoyable game of letters and words
26 January 2016

Related to scrabble but not as involved or lengthy, this game is ideal over the holidays round a table: rainy afternoon or after a meal. The rules are straightforward. The tiles -which are a satisfying weight in plastic- come in a banana shaped cloth bag with a zip, neat and compact, so it is ideal for holidays or camping. Each person has a number of tiles and proceeds on their own to form interlocking words using up all their tiles adding or subtracting in response to getting stuck or when others call for an extra tile. The winner is the one with all tiles used. The other players can continue to play until they are also 'out' or the game can end there. At the end we check the winner's words and record a list of winners before starting another game - no further ... MoreRelated to scrabble but not as involved or lengthy, this game is ideal over the holidays round a table: rainy afternoon or after a meal. The rules are straightforward. 1️⃣Love cute Banana-shaped storage pouch and it's very easy to play. 2️⃣Place lettered tiles face down, each person chooses tiles, based upon # of players. 3️⃣Build your puzzle using all your tiles and say, "Bananagrams" which requires all players to select more face down tiles. Try not to laugh because the more letters someone has—the harder it becomes. 4️⃣SPEED and CORRECT SPELLING are the goals. Never tell an opponent they've misspelled any word! Game over when someone's used all their tiles with no more to choose. 5️⃣We have someone be a guide for a younger child and give a word length handicap to HS/Adult. Family goal—encourage younger children to join in/have fun while learning to spell.

GREAT and FUN
26 December 2020

MY FAVORITE GAME! Easy to learn, exceptionally easy to play -- great for people of all ages. For younger players, maybe team up with an adult to help them learn. We play on checkered placemats (helps keep your grid lines straight and when it comes time to clean up. . .just pick up the placement and "pour" the tiles back into the bag!). The game is different every time you play. You can be as lenient or as strict as you want. With children, you can help them when they get stuck. Good traveling game. This is great for people who enjoy Scrabble but maybe need a new game. Fabulous!!!

Great game

This a great game for all ages - I enjoy playing with family and it can be competitive or relaxing -It’s like scrabble, but there is no board and there are less rigid rules allowing you more freedoms to move and change letters to new words. We play at the kitchen table - close to the coffee pot :)

Simple and fun!
1 December 2022

Was looking for new 2 player games and this one is super fun! But also can play with more than 2 players as well. It’s a quicker game that doesn’t drag on. Can play it different ways and really simple. Also love how compact it is so easy to store. Definitely recommend this to be added to your game collection!
