Bananagrams - My First
Perfect for the pre-reader and early learner, My First BANANAGRAMS utilizes lowercase letters that help children grow a love for word games and wordplay, and aligns perfectly with reading curriculums. Also included are combo-letter word building tiles, which are the first step in word creation. With multiple mini games, My First BANANAGRAMS creates a step-by-step play-progression towards ultimately learning how to play a full game of BANANAGRAMS. The game play has been simplified from the Classic game. You start by placing all 80 single letter tiles facedown in the center of the table. These form the Bunch. Each player takes 15 single-letter tiles. The object of the game is to be the first to use all your letters in a connected word grid without a spelling mistake, proper noun or abbreviation. There are also multiple ways to use the tiles to progress your preschooler in their reading skills. Like spelling your name, placing the abcs in order and letter matching. The instructions showcase 11 different tile progression exercises.

PERFECT GAME for children of all ages! My three-year-old loves learning colors and letters, and spelling her name, which are just some of the activities supplied on the instructions. And they have ADDITIONAL games on the Bananagrams website too! My son who is 10 loves this because it's the first word game he learned how to play. It had step-by-step instructions on how to build a word vertically - a key to word games, who would of knew. DEFINITELY great for stocking stuffers, easter baskets, or birthday gift. I throw it in my purse, and the kids play at the restaurant or picnic table in my backyard. I think I'm going overboard, but it's such a steal at $15.

This version includes different colors between vowels and consonants and lower case letters for early readers. The rules are easy to adjust difficulty but also there are solid game rules suggestions included in this version

A great investment in an educational game. The learning possibilities are endless! I bought this for my 5 year old, and she just loves them. We've played some of the mini games, and so far her favourite is the letter matching game. We have also used them as a learning tool for rhyming, small word building, and letter distinction. It's been a nice little tool, since she has trouble distinguishing between her lowercase b's and d's, and p's and q's. I've tested out the actual bananagrams game with my husband and it will definitely be fun to play once my daughter is old enough to spell out her own words. The tiles are so colorful and they feel nice to hold and shuffle. The size is perfect for our child's hands. I wholeheartedly recommend this game for your young child, ... MoreA great investment in an educational game. The learning possibilities are endless! I'd definitely say the age of interest for this game would be around 3 or 4 and up.

Bought this for my 3 yr old grandson. He loves making words when I play banana grams with my friends. Some are made up words that we try to say and he laughs and laughs. Some are real words. This set has some double letters together which really he really likes to use! I bet hell be reading before kindergartem. !
Very fun way to learn the sounds of vowels, consonants, and silly words with these chunky, high quality letter tiles in an adorable banana pouch. My 4-yr old was laughing maniacally at the impossible sounding mumbo jumbo like “oeoulifhivnxz” he created rather than creating real words. But, I figured it’s still learning if at least he knows how strange those letter concoctions sounded out.
Love these Banangrams. I am a homeschool Dad of two. Had no idea how great these letter tiles would be. The letters are raised and very clear. They don't rub off like painted scrabble pieces. I love that they have the vowel pairs on double tiles like oo, ae, ai. Excellent tool to help kids practice reading and spelling. Very fun.
I love this game for my early reader. We’ve only played the game once but we use the tiles to build the words she is learning. The tiles are colored coded so it is easy to find the letters.
I bought this to use with my kid that has dyslexia because it is tactile and colorful. Its cheaper than buying educational tile letter kits meant for schools. And the tiles are thicker and heavier duty than either those or scrabble tiles. It comes with instructions for a variety of games based on the age/reading level of your child. The tiles are durable and a nice weight. The letters are, I think, 5 different colors. All the vowels are mustard colored and then the constants are split up what seems randomly. I havent noticed a pattern anyway. The peach color and mustard color are more similar than I would like, but the colors dont actually have anything to do with the game play. If you are using these for educational reasons, there are a lot of vowelsits great. ... MoreI bought this to use with my kid that has dyslexia because it is tactile and colorful. I wish it had all the vowel blends, but, again, thats not the intended function.
The adults in our family love Bananagrams. We are going away with them all and our young grandchildren, two of whom are just five and seven. The lower case tiles look attractive and I’m hoping it will be a good introduction to the game and help to make spelling fun.Just like the adult version, it’s well made and attractively packaged.
We also have the regular version Bananagrams at home that the 10 year-old LOVES. But the regular version is too challenging for a 6 year old. This one is a little better. He feels more confident building words with this version. The letters are setup so that even if it's a bunch of adults playing, simple 3-4 letter words seem to work best. Make no mistake, it does not level the playing field for a younger child. If he is playing with adults, it will still be hard for a younger child to win. But it's a good tool to help a child build spelling confidence and practice. Overall, it's a great game and worth the money.
