Ordering and delivery of the Baratza Encore Coffee Grinder was a breeze. it arrived much faster than I anticipated and was well packaged for transport.I have loved using the Baratza everyday for the last month. It is a little loud for 5am operation and tends to wake up the household but this should not be a deterrent for purchasing this product. The coffee grind is great for my Moka pot and will now never purchase ground coffee again.The slimline design means that it neatly tucks away in the kitchen and doesn't take up much countertop space. I will note that when grinding at the finest level, small specks of coffee "spill out", but it's very minor and easy to clean.The Baratza Encore Coffee Grinder is an amazing product and I can't highly recommend it enough.

I have recently purchased a Baratza Encore Coffee Grinder from AB Alternative Brewing. It arrived promptly, very securely packaged, and following the directions it was set up in no time. However on setting the dial on 8 for an espresso grind I was completely dissatisfied. The grind was coarse, barely adequate for a French press. I removed the bean hopper and turned the black grind adjusting ring back and forth a few times, then reattached the hopper. Joy! I now get a beautiful fine grind, I couldn’t be happier! The only downside is, I now want to replace my old espresso machine with a Cafelat Robot Barista Espresso Maker. This coffee lark is insane!

Positive: The grind is good and even. It's also straightforward and easy to use. Negatives: The plastic used for the hopper and lid looks brittle and thin and I'm not sure if it will be durable. Looks and feels like it'll crack easily. Also, the silicone gasket that the hopper sits onto the grinding mechanism is poorly designed. It is extremely fiddly to fit on and I'm sure it'll tear easily. Baratza must certainly be aware of this as they have even highlighted 'Be careful not to tear gasket' in bold and in red. The industrial designer for this part needs to go back to school, two classes down. Otherwise, it works well.

The grinder is not fit for purpose.When I wrote to the supplier (Barista Warehouse) to complain they said that this model grinder was not designed for an espresso grind. I bought the Baratza Encore to use for pour over with a v60, sometimes aeropress, and it's the best you'll find for the price. I don't think it is as noisy as some reviewers suggest (it's a coffee grinder not a feather duster!) and although the grind settings won't suit espresso lovers you can upgrade the burr to the M2 burr which would give you a big improvement for fraction of the cost. Only major downside to the Encore is the hopper lid design - it just sits on top rather than clip on which means when the grinder is on the pressure forces it to pop off and jump around. Quite annoying and an obvious design flaw but I haven't had beans fly out the hopper. Yet
After purchasing a Tiamo Small Cold Drip - HG6329 from Alternative Brewing several years ago we didn’t hesitate in returning to their website when we needed a replacement coffee grinder.We purchased the Baratza Encore and love it! We find it a convenient size for our kitchen bench and it has multiple grind options. We use both the espresso grind (No. 8) and the course grind for our cold brew Tiamo (No. 20). This little grinder is an absolute pleasure to use! Highly recommend this grinder!
I'm very happy with the Baratza Encore burr grinder. Delivery was quick. Fitting the silicone gasket was fiddly, which I had been warned about. I use the grinder for single serves for Aeropress. The recommended grind setting has worked perfectly for me. Changing the setting is easy. Contrary to other reviews I had read, the lid does not pop off while grinding, and all the grounds deposit neatly in the receptacle - no mess. The machine is not excessively noisy. All in all I highly recommend this machine for a home user.I don't know how to upload my excellent photo. :)
It took me some effort to set up the grinder ring but once done the grinder is super easy to use. I usually put beans of the desired amount to the drum just before grinding. It does get some residues and my solution is shake the grinder a few seconds to shake down the remaining ground to the ground container, before I pour the ground to my porter-filter. It takes minimal space on the bench which is one of the main reasons I bought it just like my space-saving coffee machine. I’ve also tried HarioV60 grind, very good too. Now I use it every day and so far very happy with it. Just don’t forget to change the grind setting before you grind!
Pretty good. My only complaint is that it is somewhat noisy, and it doesn’t measure, and if you are just grinding one scoop of beans at a time, it takes a little while as they tend to bounce around in the hopper a bit.Overall though, excellent and effective. Very simple to use, cleaning is easy and minimal. Great value for the price.Oh, and a final warning - I’m drinking more ground coffee than when I was hand grinding. I’ll leave you to judge if that’s a pro or con!

So very recently we bought a small de Longhi home espresso machine with good reviews - middling price range, but supposedly very good value. Then we spent some time researching a reasonably good middle price range small grinder, once again basing choice on user reviews. But this particular grinder only seems to provide a fairly coarse outcome, even on finest grind setting, and even putting the grounds through repeatedly - for a minor improvement. Probably okay for a percolator, but not for espresso, or even plunger.
