Got this grinder to use with my Cafelat Robot and Chemex drip brewer. Very impressed! The espresso range has lots of variation, and the steps are small enough that I can dial in easily for the very grind sensitive Robot. Of course, for drip it works equally well (it’s a Baratza!). I love how easy it is to dial from espresso to drip and back... which I do every day. The espresso dosing cup ifits the Robot basket perfectly, but it’s set up is a bit fiddly. A positioning magnet would be great!Overall, very happy with this… and I’ll be posting a review to YouTube soon.

Way above expectations. Not even close to finest grind and it's plenty. Small adjustments are pretty so my concern over the steps isn't with worrying about.Static is minimal, nothing rdt can't take care ofRetention is about .1 to .3 grams though it took a few runs to get there. Single dose, using stock hopper.Consistent. So amazing something in this price range can perform to this degree.Pretty happy

After about a month of use, I am a giant fan of this.I upgraded from a cheap Cuisinart but having something that can actually do what I wanted and for not super expensive is a massive win for me.I haven't noticed a ton of uniformity issues and, so far, there seems to be a perfect step for each of my beans, as I use it for espresso. I've gotten great grinds since the day I started using it.Prior to this week, I was using the catch bin and it's amazing, almost no static. The only grounds I'd have stuck in the bin were in the corner. Now that I finally picked up a dosing funnel, I started using the dosing cup and it's a dream. I've had zero complaints. I use a 51mm portafilter but even then, with the dosing funnel, I haven't ran into mess issues yet!TL;DR: For ... MoreAfter about a month of use, I am a giant fan of this.I upgraded from a cheap Cuisinart but having something that can actually do what I wanted and for not super expensive is a massive win for me.I haven't noticed a ton of uniformity issues and, so far, there seems to be a perfect step for each of my beans, as I use it for espresso. We had an inexpensive conical burr grinder to use with a Gaggia Classic Pro. The espresso’s were okay but not great. We recently bought the Baratza Encore ESP and it has been a game changer. Now we get amazing 30 second espresso brews with crazy crema and dry pucks. I wish we had invested in a better grinder when we bought the Gaggia. There can be some clumps in the ground coffee but a small whisk clears that up quickly. The Baratza Encore ESP is highly recommended by us.
I am no expert on grinders, and you can get a grinder from $80 to over $1500. I didnt need anything that was over the top. I wanted something of decent quality that meets my needs at home. It was down to this v the Breville Smart Grinder Pro which was a little cheaper and also well rated. I opted for this because the company that makes them only makes grinders and reviews were really good plus there were questions around the longevity of the motor on the Breville We have been using it for a few weeks and the difference in the coffee taste is huge (compared to pre ground coffee). Really happy with the purchase. Good quality, reasonably priced for home, looks really good (I hated the look of the Breville), and based on the reviews, should last us for a long time.
This grinder is perfect for me, someone who wants good coffee but doesn't want to go top-of-the-line or buy an espresso machine just yet. The ESP grinds well and is very easy to use and clean. I'm almost through my second bag of coffee with no issues, and the suggested AeroPress grind setting has served me well (there are also recommended initial grind settings for espresso, V60, Chemex, French press, and drip coffee).I have to mention the static free materials since static has never been an issue even when inside humidity was 10% due to winter weather and constantly running central heat. I RDT (add droplets of water to beans before grinding) but don't know if it's necessary. There is some retention and clumping, which I expected, but it's not bad. I can't speak to the espresso range grind settings since I don't have a machine yet. I also haven't used the grounds bin, just the dosing cup. The one thing I don't like is the cheap, fragile feeling on/off knob.
I've had this for a few weeks, and have been happy with the grinder. Grinds seem to be even. Also a plus that it can grind all the way to fine espresso to drip coffee. As for the cons, it is a little louder than some more expensive options. Trying to use the dosing cup to catch the grinds can make for a bit of a mess, as there is a gap between it and where the coffee comes out. The lid is also not held on very well and can pop off pretty easily when moving the machine around. All in all I think it is very solid for the price and am happy with the purchase.
I loved the grinder and only used it for maybe a month and then it didn't grind my coffee anymore. The burrs rotate but nothing comes out. One of the reasons we ordered a Baratza was because of their high customer service rating. Unfortunately that has changed. When calling them there is a message stating that due to being so busy they can only deal with issues via email. I emailed them 3 weeks ago and not a peep. $200 is a lot of money for no customer service and a now non-functional grinder. To say that I am disappointed is an understatement.
Coming from the original Encore, I made the jump to espresso world with the Gaggia Classic Pro. Admittedly, I had ordered the Encore ESP from Amazon a week before I decided on the Gaggia from Whole Latte Love. The delivery of my Encore ESP got botched and I had to cancel it which then I ordered it from WLL who had it shipped a few hours after placing my order. Fool me once, shame on me, now I’m only ordering my coffee gear from WLL!Enough about my woes and on to the grinder! It has the same footprint as the original grinder, but with all the necessary upgrades to allow for espresso. I have been dialing in a standard dark roasts through medium roasts in settings 6-8 naturally the espresso range is 1-20. There are washers included too if you want to go a little bit ... MoreComing from the original Encore, I made the jump to espresso world with the Gaggia Classic Pro. There are washers included too if you want to go a little bit between the standard steps too, but I’ve found my sweet spot for now. Plus I can still use my other coffee gadgets like Moka, Chemex, and V60 without needing a separate grinder. All in all, is it the best espresso grinder on the market? No, but I believe it to be best do-it-all grinder at a very reasonable price. If you’re limited on space, cash, or simply beginning your journey into espresso, I think this is one of the best options out there. With Baratza’s fantastic customer service and “fix it, don’t dump it” philosophy, this grinder is such a great investment. For me, it will always be on my countertop even if I upgrade in the future (which will most likely still be a Barazta grinder!). Just like the Gaggia Classic Pro, the Encore ESP has the capability to grow with you along your espresso journey.Bravo Baratza!
I'm very happy with my Encore ESP. I was looking for a grinder that could help me up my expresso game and be a good pair with my Breville Bambino. The fine grind steps on the ESP has allowed me to switch to unpressurized baskets on my Bambino. With a little practice, my espressos are notably better. The grounds cup also improves my workflow. The ESP also does great with pour-over methods. I've used it with my Chemex and V60, and both worked well. Considering the build quality and ability to do many things well, the ESP is a great value.
