Works a treat and dosing has been consistent. Grind is easily fine enough for my usual espresso and the single time has been more useful than expected, as someone with difficulty in executive functioning. Absolutely recommended for anyone looking to get started with non pressurised espresso brewing or as a change from a hand grinder for those in a hurry.

Cannot fault this grinder at all! Almost zero retention and consistent coffee grounds every time. It is slightly noisy, but the speed makes up for it. Easy clean up and love how easily you can change over your coffee beans in the hopper. Highly recommend this!!

Cannot fault this grinder at all! Almost zero retention and consistent coffee grounds every time. It is slightly noisy, but the speed makes up for it. Easy clean up and love how easily you can change over your coffee beans in the hopper. Highly recommend this!!
When I pay this kind of money for a coffee grinder, I expect quality all the way. The metal body of the machine is sturdy and there is no mess when grinding HOWEVER, the plastic hopper is so flimsy that when you try to slide the hopper into place it is very difficult to lock it in without feeling like you are going to break the plastic feet off it or crack some other part of it. Indeed one of the plastic feet did break off our hopper when we assembled it. I am afraid to remove it now because it means I'll have to reassemble it again. For this price, I expect parts that glide and lock into place with ease and for the hopper to be made of much sturdier plastic. The instructions for the espresso grind setting were also incorrect. I purchased the Baratza Sette AP 30 to improve my Expresso shots coming from the inbuilt Breville barista grinder. What a difference.The AP 30 grind size adjustment is adequate for my needs. It all depends on the beans.Easy to dial in and set and forget .Would definitely recommend if you are looking to improve your shots and make amazing Expresso martinis
I have been happy with my product until 2 years in. My brother has the sette 270 and mine has always been a lot louder despite having the same insides. Two years in my grinder gearbox has broken down and it now produces a horrible grinding noise. After some research I found out this isn’t a one off issue and occurs quite often. Baratza support just referred me to their website for international part suppliers as they are based in the USA. Going to cost me just under a $100 to get the gearbox part that I’ll have to replace myself. The gearbox is known not to last and I don’t think I would recommend this grinder.
For the money, it's been a good grinder so far. You must bear in mind that in the market which is still on the cheaper end of the sacale and this is evident in some aspect of its build.The first thing to note is that the printed grind settings on the collar don't always match up with the indicator on the rotating ring - it will sit in between on some settings. Is the grind setting on 17 or 16? You have to guess.Another issue I find a bit annoying is that when operating the lid on the hopper will pop off from the vibration of the machine.These don't affect the overall operation, but this is why I don't give it five stars. Five stars should be perfect, not pretty good.

Several weeks in to using this, for Aeropress (grind setting 20-21) and Espresso (setting 14-15 - too coarse perhaps, but my tired machine won't push water through a finer grind), using 'espresso roasted' beans. It's pretty consistent for one-shot grinding, about 5S on the timer for 16g (Aero) and 14g (Espresso). Seems to provide a very consistent grind for a predictable brew. Happy with my purchase - now need to upgrade the Espresso machine, I think!
Bought a Baratza Sette 30 grinder early December from the good people at Alternative Brewing. Excellent quality machine. I've seen plenty of comments regarding the noise level but I don't find it too loud, plus very quick grind and next to no coffee retention and no coffee powder splatter. Order #395082
