These are so easy to cook even being thin. They make for a delicious meal. Couldn't get any better unless they made organic ones. Follow the directions on the box and you can't go wrong. Top em your fsvorite way. Butter and garlic salt, traditional red sauce, marinara, peppercorn and parmesian, alfredo style, cold style, all by themselves, with or without meatballs. So many options! I hwve even used them to make Asian bowls for my husband!

Now, I am half Italian but I don't make my own pasta like my ancestors did. Barilla comes the closest to taste. I love making fettuccine alfredo. However, I do make my own sauces. I add in fresh ingredients. I usually make it with shrimp but the plate in the photo, I didn't. Barilla is as close to home as it gets. Its definitely affordable and it tastes great. Recommended!

We eat a lot of pasta in our house and I usually go for Barilla pasta because it has a good quality. This is bronze die pasta and the surface is a little rougher, and that gives it some advantage in pasta sauce sticking to it. Another difference is that the cooking time is a little different and you need to experiment with it if you’re used to the cooking times with typical pasta. This pasta has a pleasing hearty texture, cooks evenly, and separates well. It seems dense and firm than most pasta and doesn’t get gummy or mushy. The flavor was good. The extra texture of the pasta helps more sauce cling on. Furthermore, this is a wonderful, delicious box of fantastic pasta.

I like this Barilla extra protein spaghetti. It makes me feel good that I am feeding my family noodles that are higher in protein and fiber than traditional noodles. They taste very good-I do not notice a difference in the taste from traditional noodles. My only complaint and the reason I removed a star is that for some reason these noodles tend to retain more water than other noodles. Sometimes it makes the sauce on your plate look watered down. It’s not such a big complaint that I would not buy them, but it’s nice to know that this can happen. It took me a little bit to figure out whether my sauce was very thin or whether it was the noodles!
I switched over to whole grain pastas since I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. The noodles don’t fluff up as much as the regular flour noodles but they are still delicious. It has taken my husband longer to adjust than my kids but I think it’s just because it’s a learned habit since childhood. The sauce coats the noodles nicely. Above all, I love that simple little changes will make a big difference in my kids’ future dietary habits.
I love pasta(I make my own homemade sauce's, from scratch. And, I actually have 2 noodle maker's). Which is why I have tried all of the different brand's. And, the less processed and least ingredient's, tend to give a better flavor(The processing, drain's the nutrient's and flavor from anything). So, I found these(Started with the regular spaghetti noodle's, then used these Angel Hair, for a Thai Peanut Sauce, that I love)
The whole wheat linguine by Barilla is my favorite pasta. The shape is PERFECT for that al dente, which can be a little hard to achieve with some whole grain pastas. On a related note, here are the other Barilla whole wheat pastas I used:Penne, elbows, lasagne, rotini, linguine - 5 starsspaghetti 3 stars (too thin, tends to break and get waterlogged)this spaghetti 2 stars (so thin it breaks and gets mushy)
I also fancy De Cecco spaghetti sometimes when I cook Spaghetti Alle Vongole though, common De Cecco Spaghetti No.12 is slightly thicker than this Barilla Spaghetti No.5, so better to compare with thicker Barilla Spaghettoni No.7 to cook for 10-11 mins. This slightly thinner Barilla Spaghetti No.5 has quicker 9 minutes of cooking time and goes extremely well with Barilla olive pasta sauce etc for easy quick meal. When I cook more spicy or saltier sauces like Arrabbiata, Pancetta Carbonara or Vongole, I choose spaghetti thickness for combined flavour and texture with the sauce, that sometimes I make homemade fresh pasta too, so for this size and as dry pasta for easy meal, its absolutely fine and think its great on offer for cupboard standby. Well, usually I don't have any problems. I love Sam's!!! But we have lately seen packing going down hill. They put all heavy objects in with our crackers. We bought three boxes of Keebler crackers and they all have the boxes blown apart, and our crackers are smashed. There were also four containers of peanuts that were heavy in the same box and pasta. So, you see why our crackers were destroyed. I just wish the packers would be more careful with what they put in the boxes. We also had problems with FedEx, they had trouble carrying them and would just drop them in our driveway. Way away from the door. This is a problem because my husband is sometimes not here to carry them, and I am disabled and it's very hard for me. So, I hope you see my problem. Thank You for your time. Gail
i have been searching for Bucatini pasta. i saw this thick spaghetti and realized it is Bucatini which is a rounded spaghetti with a whole running through it. this is the best for a nice thick gravy. when you mix the cooked pasta on the stove into the gravy the whole soaks up the gravy and infuses it so well. so glad i realized Barilla makes Bucatini under the Thick Spaghetti name. Geazi Barilla I'm a happy Siciliano.
