I purchased 2 of these doorbell-cameras several weeks and had them installed in minutes. The shipping and installation went flawlessly. The instructions to physically install as well as systemically install the software were clear and easy to follow and implement. Previously we had no doorbells and often could not hear guests knocking at our doors. Now as long as we have our cell phone near we hear the "someone at your door" chime and can answer the door or we can ask questions via the talk option, or let them know we are on our way. Best of all while away from home we can do the same, which provides significantly more security and piece of mind than we previously had. It is also nice to be able to see what the weather is like and how much snow we may have received. ... MoreI purchased 2 of these doorbell-cameras several weeks and had them installed in minutes. I live in a four-storey condo. Our unit is at the end of a hallway. We often do not hear someone knocking at the door if we are at the other end of the condo or on our balcony. We also wanted to be able to screen persons at the door and have a record of visitors (welcome or otherwise) and deliveries. I had some very good reviews [not from this site] so I decided to get a unit to solve the issues. The doorbell came with a mounting bracket (for attachment to a wall with drywall anchors or wood screws - supplied), adhesive strips for non-screw mounting, teeny tiny flathead screws to attach the doorbell to the mounting bracket, a USB-C charging cable and a very basic multi-lingual exploded view illustration leaflet of how it is to be mounted. I decided initially to use the adhesive strips and they worked fine to attach the bracket to one side of our doorframe. One thing I did not count on was that the recessed entrance door meant that the doorbell camera was blocked by part of the frame. I am sure in a normal residential setting this would not be an issue but it was for me. The most frustrating part of the installation was trying to get the teeny tiny screws through the camera body and into the mounting bracket. Coupled with this issue was trying to find a small Philips screwdriver; I really needed four arms and hands to do this. Setting up the doorbell was relatively straightforward with creating a RING account and customizing the features. I wanted to share the doorbell access with my spouse and it was a convoluted exercise in having her get her own RING account [why?] and then briefing her on what the doorbell is doing when it notifies her that someone is at the door - the issue here is that she cannot see who is at the door, only be notified that someone is there - what is the point of her having her own account? The doorbell battery did not fully charge using the supplied cable and soon ran down, forcing me to remove it (I learned later that it takes several hours to charge). I ended up purchasing another charger and spare battery (something RING alays reminds you to do). The doorbell works and does provide useful information on visitors . Just be prepared for a tricky installation. I ended up purchasing a RING angle mounting bracket to position the camera more towards the centre of the doorway. This was also challenging getting it installed.

Review of RING Battery Video Doorbell Plus

I absolutely love this doorbell! It's so simple to set up and it comes with everything you need to do so. The instructions are very easy to follow too.The battery is quite long lasting, and there are lots of different settings that you can change on the app, All of which tell you how each setting affects battery life, positively or negatively. You can adjut the motion settings very easily on the app too. Plus, you can snooze settings at certain times if you wish. For example, if you didnt want notifications at night, you can adjust your settings accordingly. There are a wealth different chimes that you can apply (if you have the plug in chime) and they add new ones all the time. [Rewarded Review] A basically useless video doorbell
27 July 2024

This ring doorbell sucks!!! Will not notify me when someone is walking up to my door and only sometimes it’ll catch them after they left. What good is that. I’ve got the sensitivity turn to max and the zone covering my whole front yard and walk way. But still doesn’t pick any one up on camera. I can walk right in front of it all the way to my from door without being seen. The only time it’s sends a notification is when someone actually rings the doorbell. Wish I could return it but past the return window now. I should’ve kept my eufy video doorbell instead of getting this piece of junk. Do yourself a favor and do not get this model of ring doorbell.

These two things are essential to having the Ring Camera and without either, there's no point of having it. I'm worried that that the Developers purposely make the camera not function as it should without paying the monthly subscription. I understand having to pay for the storage in order access recording... but it's it really necessary to have to pay monthly for it to save and veiw? Why not make the camera cheaper so the monthly subscription can be affordable and why does the camera become flawed with wifi connection if there's no monthly subscription? It's a shame... moral of the story, don't buy this product unless you are prepared to buy the monthly subscription. Otherwise, its a good camera.

Ring apparently.I wish there was a better alternative to all these greedy camera companies.

[Rewarded Review] Ring doesn't do different Front and Back dr tones

These were purchased and installed to upgrade a 65 year-old wired doorbell system that announced different chime tones, one for front door and a different chime for the side door. Since we decided to place the two Ring video doorbells in better locations than the viewing angles provided by the wired doorbells, we were not going to use the two existing chimes. And since we normally don't carry our phones all the time while at home, we needed a minimum of 2 Ring Chimes, one placed near the two existing chimes so they can be heard distinctly throughout the house. Since we had already spent and installed other Ring components throughout the house, this was a hard lesson to learn. Customer Service at Ring is pretty poor, and it is hard to explain to them why you might need two different ring tones on a single Ring Chime to accounce two different Ring Doodbells. And you still have to subscribe to a monthly service in order to do the Security Video stuff. The marketing for Ring is much better than the experience we received for the money spent.

Downgrade from prior models. Aesthetically pleasing with flexibility to charge faceplates, and I like that the battery itself is removable to charge separate from the device. Battery life is similar to prior models and subject to weather/settings - ours averages two weeks at low sensitivity but active environment, before needing a charge. “Person detected” is the default notification even when motion doesn’t indicate a live person. Recognition is generalized as if they fast-tracked the configuration. App settings are categorized/organized in a mess much like the depths of Amazon navigation. Neighborhood alerts and posts are helpful for awareness and dialogue. All else I would recommend another brand altogether.
