A good all-round saw for most jobs. Unfortunately quality as delivered can be hit and miss. Some perform faultlessly, while others quickly become unreliable or unusable due to many faults. Typical faults for mine are : 1. oil control dropped out during use, saw still usable, 2. air filter doesn't seal around carby so inevitably saw dust clogs up carby and requires cleaning. A simple modification has fixed this, 3. chain brake became locked on to shaft and required removal and fixing When using without the problems the saw is a good performer and requires only rare adjustments to the carby. Good balance and easy to use in tight spaces, but enough power for largish cuts.

I have been using chain saws for over 50-years and know a good one. As I am much older, I needed a saw with at least a 20" bar (I have a 22" 62cc model but too heavy & I am now not strong enough to start it. So bought the model listed above. Yes, easy to start, put it on the ground and pull the cord in a smooth extended pull (NOT the way many start their saw-letting the saw drop with its weight) the eStart does not work like this. OK, checked all tight, chain adjusted, good bar oil and fresh saw oil and petrol mix. Tree trunks 12''-24'' almost dry, no bark clean wood. Cut a few pieces and noticed poor chain width clearance and chips not well cleared. Chain was less sharp so did a proper hand sharpen and tried again, did not cut very well-not enough chain width ... Since bought a new chain of well known brand, result is chalk and cheese, with new chain, saw cuts like hot knife through butter. Cut a dozen slabs in no time, chain still sharp and not very stretched, compared to the chain supplied. I could see the sides of the original supplied cutting teeth were easily worn, hence the lack of cut width. Throw away the chain supplied, buy a proper Semi Chisel profile curved cutting profile-lasts longer before sharpening but slower cutting. I would NOT recommend a full chisel point profile-cuts faster dulls faster and stops cutting. That is my own experience and the suggestion at local chain saw retail store. Do the proper maintenance, use proper bar oil and fresh petrol-a premium grade 95 and over and a proper chainsaw two stroke oil. Worth the money, interstate freight is the killer.

These guys have done a great job copying the engine of brands 10x the price. Use the choke, a few pulls of the cord, squirt the trigger once more and it starts then idles well. The 62CC is needed for 20" or bigger hardwood logs and it handles it well. My biggest tip is throw out the rubbish chain that comes with it after your first go and get an Oregon one (~$50), then you'll be cutting as well and reliably as a $1000+ saw. I recently ran a comparison with the latest Milwaukee electric saw which was a great unit, but this Baum-R took over and finished the job when the electric one didn't have the power needed. It was worth the $200+ I paid for it so it's an absolute steal at $139.

Started easy. Power is very good. Time will tell about reliability. My only dislike is the ignition on/off switch. I found it to be easily bumped to the off position while working with it. A more heavy duty switch should be implemented in the design. Over all a good chainsaw for the money.
I bought my first baumer 62cc saw in a hurry after my 30 year old dolmar blew up in the middle of a job , 5 years ago . I used it quite a bit to slab up iron bark and bloodwood logs and also for firewood . I replaced the dog spike with a home made one very quickly as the original ones are very weak . The pull start mechanism also broke after a couple of years and the replacement one didn't quite match and broke pretty soon too . I bought another of the same saws after that and now have a 3rd one too , and obviously am satisfied with the product , taking into consideration the same commen weaknesses of each one and considering the unbeatable price . Too bad a lot of parts are not available eg anti vibration mounts , front ones broke on 2 saws and I did a home made ... This is a cheap chain saw, so don't expect it to perform the same as a well known brand. After following all the instructions to set it up properly and get it ready, it took a lot of pulls on the starter to get it going. After running it for 15min to warm it up, I turned it off and checked the chain tension, all was good, but it would not start again and after trying for over 10min to start it, I gave up and left it for a few days to try again. Still not starting! Left it again and next time it took a fair bit of pulling but it started. I used it on and off for several hours cutting firewood and it would start easily each time I turned it off, so I don't know if it just needed more "run in" time, now it seams to start more easily, but the easy start they promote ... As the machine has been so difficult to start, the starter chord is already showing signs of wear and fraying in some parts, so just have to keep an eye on this. The chain bar oil leaks continuously, and while in storage has leaked all over other items in my shed. It's also quite heavy on fuel consumption. Is it comparable to a $$$$$ name brand chain saw? NO. Is it good value for money? YES. If you're only cutting wood occasionally it a good machine. Its really light and easy to handle and the 20" bar length is ideal for general cutting. Once running it works well.
Firstly I'm not a serial reviewer or bagger the product has to earn my time both positive and negative. So hear goes I had a tree to be felled ended up being 45cm at the stump and about 12 - 15 m high. Got quotes to remove professionally boy do these guys know how to charge !! Being a tradesman and a bit handy thought I'd give it a go myself. Saw your chainsaws on line at a reasonable price and thought what the hell nothing ventured nothing gained. Knew I was not purchasing a top of the line item for such a price so my expectations were not great as long as it was safe. On checking reviews only a couple of items got flagged one was about chain adjustment worm gear the other was wood dust in the carburettor but no mention of any safety concerns as we all know a ... Being a tradesman and a bit handy thought I'd give it a go myself. Saw your chainsaws on line at a reasonable price and thought what the hell nothing ventured nothing gained. Knew I was not purchasing a top of the line item for such a price so my expectations were not great as long as it was safe. On checking reviews only a couple of items got flagged one was about chain adjustment worm gear the other was wood dust in the carburettor but no mention of any safety concerns as we all know a chainsaw is an angry machine. So I ordered from Edison's directly and was delivered promptly. On opening up box first things presented was the safety goods gloves, glasses and earmuffs which immediately went into the bin such crap quality. Thinking the saw would quickly follow but I was pleasantly surprised as the saw didn't seem to bad. Before assembly I checked out the chain tightening worm gear and found the grease or I think it was grease quite solid and dry so I cleaned this up and lubed with quality grease. Thought I'd do a couple of cuts and check for dust in the carburettor. Assembly was easy following your video online one thing of note here unlike others who posted online about assembly no one else mentions about lifting bar whilst tightening. After assembly and loading oil and petrol it started easily. Not ready to start the job left for a few days. When I was ready to rock and roll the stupid machine would not start the bin was looking good. I could smell petrol so assumed it was flooded so I removed spark plug and yeh sure enough it was, a couple of dry cranks cured this but on putting spark plug back in noticed gap almost non exististance how it started initially who knows this was adjusted and started OK. Did a couple of cuts and checked for dust in the carburettor and found that it to be showing definite signs of dust. How to solve this issue ??? On observation believed dust was coming in underneath the filter had no gasket material or O rings so made a gasket from a leather glove. Did many more cuts and NO signs of dust in the carburettor lots of build up around the home made gasket. Will trial with rubber gasket or O ring later. On completion of the job checked the chain tightening worm gear and found it to be gummed up with saw dust so it was cleaned and re-lubed so this is a high maintenance item which is probably not happening hence leading to seizure. So in summing up if you're prepared to tweak things yourself and do regular maintenance no reason why this shouldn't give the weekend hackers (definitely not high use) some years of service. As for me it's already paid for itself 10 X over anything else from here is a bonus. One last word of caution chainsaws are a high maintenance item especially at the low end of the market so if your not that way inclined don't go there. As for you guys at Edison's this is not too far away from beinga half decent product say another say $50 worth of improvements and quality control.
Purchased in mid 2007 for $123 as my old Stihl 031av stopped and I couldn't get replacement ignition points (Bosch). The Baum did the job; not great quality but it kept me in firewood for a few years till I could find a 'workaround' repair for the Stihl, which finally 'gave up the ghost' in 2017. The Baum is still cutting well and is kept as a backup saw. If you treat the saw well it should give you many years of service, which is more than I can saw for the modern Stihl saws.
first petrol chainsaw, upgrading from a 240v makita. straight forward to assemble. took a while to get started the first time - could probably do with a primer. once going it runs well and cuts effortlessly. chain tension needed adjusting a couple of times - seemed to loosen up quickly - but otherwise cant really fault it. time will tell if it lasts, but for what i need ( firewood and pruning a couple of times a year ) so far it looks the goods.
This chainsaw has lots of power, and starts easily. A similar sized chainsaw (in one of the big brands) would have cost me around $800, which i just couldn't justify for the amount I will use it. (I researched at least 3 other big brands for a similar power rating and bar size.) Make sure you keep your chain oil topped up. The chain will stretch a bit when new so keep an eye on the tension after the first few big cuts. It has an onboard socket tool for being able to easily adjust chain tension. When you are finished using it, its a good idea to remove the side cover and blow out all the wood dust (which has been soaked with chain oil) with compressed air, or a brush. NOTE, the safety clutch handle needs to be disengaged to remove the side cover. The chainsaw comes ... MoreThis chainsaw has lots of power, and starts easily. (I actually purchased a spare chain as well, in case i didnt have time to sharpen the used one.) I'm really happy with this chainsaw and delivery was free. This is THE bargain of the century!
