I have a small home recording studio. When I was doing vocals with friends I needed two or three headphones inputs into my interface which only had one headphone jack. I used a small earphone doubler which was not very satisfactory. With the Behringer HA400 I was able to connect to the interface, have four separate volume-controlled headphone jacks and record vocals hassle free. An excellent piece of kit for the home studio enthusiast.

Good quality sounds good. powerful and cheap. I bought it to power my 600 ohm Sennheiser HD540 headphones. It works well. Two minor problems. It lacks a power on/off switch so have to unplug - messy. also 6.3mm headphone socket does not connect the middle bit so no right channel. But if I connect through a 1->2 adapter it is fine. All four sockets the same and are fixed plastic so no chance to correct. I have bought a new lead and this corrects the problem but who is at fault Sennheiser (never failed to connect on anything before) or Behringer. Who cares minor problems this mini amp works great. Now I can connect my headphones and sub-woofer at the same time.

I needed a way to share the output of my computer with others for recording projects and jamming. Simply using a splitter was not enough. It didn't allow more than 2 and dividing a signal without amplifying it reduces its gain somewhat. Besides there was no easy volume control to each individual headphone. This unit will solve all of that. Stereo in and 4 stereo outs each with its own volume control. The pros are that it isn't noisy as it was suggested in an earlier review and will amplify without too much distortion even at full volume. That said there is a small amount of distortion when it is amplifying low level sound sources but that isn't a deal breaker as it is allowing us all to hear the sounds at a level comfortable to us all individually and with little ... I like it. It solved our problem. I'd recommend it if you have the same problem I had.
I bought this amp with a specific purpose. It had to amplify drum beats from a tablet sufficiently to provide enough input power to a bass amp for the volume to provide me with the beat I needed while playing guitar and singing. It achieved this on about half the volume setting available. Job done. The item is a robust little package that I expect will last years. Given its success for my purpose, you could expect it to perform well in its designed function of headphone amplification. I only need one of its four channels, but all of them work equally well one at a time. I have not tested them acting at the same time.
So, first off, it's for a cheap price. With that said, it is an awesome amp completely worth every penny. It's one of those purchases you make that goes so far beyond the money you pay for it. Unless the best quality is what you're after, you won't be settling for this. Pros: Solid metal construction, easy to set up, aesthetics that could fit with any situation, good volume. Cons: Nobs feel a little cheap. Side notes: Even with the nobs feeling cheap, they still look great and turn perfectly fine. Functionality isn't an issue at all, they just feel cheap.
I purchased a Pyle PHA40 4 channel headphone amp prior to buying your HA400 4 Channel Ultra-compact Headphone amp. The Pyle PHA40 has a very low noise floor (hum, hiss). I noticed a pronounced hum immediately during testing of your HA400. The hum is noticeable even at the lowest volume on the HA400. Since Ive had problems with noisy power adapters before, I swapped the Pyle 12V power adapter to your HA400 amp. THE HUM VANISHED your amp was a quiet as the Pyle amp. Swapped the HA400 power supply back - same loud hum. Conclusion: either my power adapter is defective, or all of the model 1205, 12V, 500mA power adapters that are included with the HA400 cause noise interference with the amp. I wanted to make you aware of this problem. Looks like Ill have to buy another ... This is a great little unit. It adds zero noise to the mix, boosts each individual headphone with zero bleed to the other channels. Is tiny and portable. My only wish was that it could take battery as well as AC power, so I could use it either in places without access to power (like the park or the beach) as well as require one less (proprietary) plug to lug around. But this is brilliant for small group mixes, podcasts etc.
