I'm an Old School hi-end audiophile. I run a laptop PC as a media player into a USB DAC. I used to use this Behringer for both audio playback and for taking analog to digital. The sound quality is equal to what you get out of a typical low cost CD player. First, let me say I bought this to upgrade the sound card on my laptop running Linux (Fedora 25). I use it only as an output device to my stereo receiver, using the analog RCA output. It is plug & play with Fedora. The only "configuration" required is you need to go the sound properties in Fedora's tools menus and select this output device instead of your laptop sound card. Sound output of this card is amazingly better than the laptop's headphone output, especially the higher frequencies. I used to have to jack up the treble with my old card to keep the sound from being "muddy". Doing that increased noise and distortion and made it sound generally poor. Sound from the Behringer UCA 202 is clean and crisp. You also have control of the volume and balance for the line ... The audacity software is pretty good, not as advanced as Komplete Guitar Rig, but fine for a low budget.There is a slight bit of latency in the sound as it plays live through the monitor, and this is not a permanent solution to your home studio. However, I'm more than happy with what we've got here to "buy some time" while we save for a professional interface.

The headphone/ monitoring seems to only be for the input signal. The off/on monitor switch bypasses the dry signal from being sent to the headphone port. The headphone monitoring the wet signal was important because I planned on using it for private listening as well. So the fact that only the dry signal is sent to the headphone output practically rendered this useless for me. Luckily though, Audiobus 3 has a multiroute audio option that sends the output to the headphone port on the iPhone in addition to the outs on the interface, so I am able to use it as intended after all.Bottom line, I would look at different audio interface if you are wanting to listen to a processed signal through headphones directly from the interface. However, if you plan on the output being sent to speakers, or a mixer, or if you don't intend to use the onboard headphone out to listen to a wet signal, then this will make a decent affordable option for an audio interface. My recommendation is entirely dependent on how you plan to use this. Just be aware of how the monitoring and headphone output actually works on this.
I got it to transfer vinyl albums to CD and it's done a good job, along with audacity software, which you have to download I might add. Would have given 5 stars but haven't found the "huge" bundle of included software that's advertised, unless it's in the audacity software itself. Not sure about those "hundreds" of instruments, haven't found those. You can make really nice crystal clear CD's if you use the tools, just google for instructions on the various tools for noise and crackle reduction, compression etc.
For the list price of $29.99 (something like that) this is an incredible product. Any other product will be $100 or more and perhaps not be suited to the kind of consumer use this is good for. You can use it to convert your cassetes and LPs to mp3s. Really, any thing that outputs RCA L/R audio channels can be converted. You will need to be handy at a few things on your computer: (1) be able to download and use an Audio editing program such as Audacity; (2) install and manage audio drivers that enable the Behringer to talk to the audio editor.
At 3 inches by 2 inches the UCA222 is a compact interface that does exactly what I want it to do -- make possible a high quality digital audio signal from my computer to my powered speakers. Apple used to make possible a direct Toslink connection between computer and speakers, and I was disappointed to find that they took that feature out of the 2019 iMac. I used Bluetooth to connect for a while, but there was always a lag at the start of an audio stream. With this little Behringer device, I have USB to optical digital cable out and straight to my speakers. Best of all, it is very reasonably priced.
Great efficient item. I am using this to convert mini disc recordings to MP3 files and the Behringer UCA202 has saved me hours of work. The mini discs were used for backing tracks for my solo performance, converting via the Behringer means I can now play my tracks on my ipad. It worked straight away as a plug and play device and efficiently recorded the MP3 tracks which were able to be doctored through my user program to get the optimum performance for the tracks. All set at the correct volume and with better eq settings and no gaps at front and back. Thoroughly recommend this unit for this purpose, and can see it could be very useful in future for other set ups.
What a great solution to the common failed earphone socket on the IMac. This clever beauty reroutes the sound , but also allows mixing from another source such as your mixer etc (in other words sound in and sound out) are catered for. as well as a volume monitored headphone socket for quiet listening whilst recording, all through a USB 1 or 2 port, which also supplies the DC requiredThere is also a monitoring switch which makes the unit fantastically versatile.

It makes as good a 16-bit recording as anything I have tried. Get this unless you really need 24 bit recordings. 44,100 or 48,000 sample rate is not a limiter IMHO. Much has been written about that elsewhere by experts. You only need 24 bit if you are going to do a lot of processing with plugins on your recordings.
