Ben & Jerry's Non Dairy Choc Chip Cookie Dough 458ml

The BEST thing on planet Earth....and it's vegan!! Of course, most people know how great this brand is, and I'm ever so grateful they branched out to included a few vegan options! It's heavenly! I don't think I ever had Ben Jerry's before I became a vegan back 19 years ago, but I certainly have since! My local (30 miles away for one that carries this) grocery stores only carry about four of Ben Jerry's vegan flavors, and thankfully this is one of them! At least being vegan, it's cholesterol free, and is made with healthier ingredients without sacrificing any taste or quality! The texture is creamy/smooth/chewy, with gooey caramel and chunks of chocolate! It's pretty expensive though. At my store, it's close to $7.00 after taxes, but it's SO very worth it, and it's on sale fairly often for a dollar or more off. If I recommend any dessert fully, vegan or not, this is at the very top with a few other things! I ate a lot of ice cream before I was vegan too, and I have to say this is better than almost any ice cream I've ever had. My 15 year old prefers vegan ice cream over dairy ones. Especially this one, and she's not vegan. She says it's smoother, and it often is. Especially if made from soy, cashew, or Almond. Rice (milk) based ones can be a bit gritty, this is not at all gritty, and it's soy based if I recall correctly. It's worth the sludge when you can afford/justify it!

When i was new to canada, i had never tried ben and jerry’s before. I tried this kind in particular because it was the only one available at the store. I was really excited since Ive always liked eating cookie dough. Its vanilla ice cream with chunks of dark chocolate and cookie dough. It is really tasty and light, which doesnt make you feel too full after eating. Great mix and is light but sweet. Really recommend

Absolutely D E L I S H

Now this is what non-dairy ice cream needs to taste like! Well done B&J, well done. The original B&J Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough ice cream is my absolute favorite sweet treat. Before switching to a plant based diet, I would consume more than my fair share of the creamy cookie dough awesomeness. Now that I'm not eating dairy, I am in need of an alternative. This product does not disappoint. I taste-tested it side by side with the So Delicious version. B&J killed the competition! No contest. It's rich, creamy, and there are GOBS of cookie dough chunks all throughout. Plus, no aftertaste. Does it taste just like the original? Not quite, but close enough. Now, I can still enjoy my favorite treat without disrespecting my eating preferences.

At last! A tasty vegan C.C. cookie dough ice cream

I feel like I actually requested it back B&J rolled out the original non-dairy flavors, so I was in the stores looking for this one the day after seeing the ad.Anyway, onto the ice cream...the cookie dough bits are small, but the cookie dough to ice cream ratio is perfect! I’ve had like 10 of the pints already, and they all have plenty of cookie dough pieces. The chocolate content of the rest of them was a lot better, so I’m thinking that first one was just a fluke. The ice cream itself is good, and is one of the main reasons I love B&J’s non-dairy CC cookie dough ice cream better than any other brand. Most other brands I have tried use coconut milk as a base which gives the ice cream that hint of coconut flavor that I absolutely do not want in my cookie dough ice creams. The almond milk ice cream makes me feel like I’m eating a dairy ice cream, but without the weird dairy after taste. All in all, this is the absolute best cookie dough ice cream I have had in the past 6 years! B&J’s non-dairy ice creams are some of the best out there in my opinion.My only qualm is that it only comes in a pint size. I would love to see B&J make a quart or gallon size so I could avoid going to buy it 3 times a week (or 3 pints in one trip, who am I kidding?).

Best ice cream EVER until….

Your original dairy free chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream was to die for!!! WHY DID YOU CHANGE THE RECIPE?! I have a cookie company and mine are phenomenal because every ingredient is working perfectly together!! You lost the perfect ice cream!! Please change it back to the old recipe!!!

I’M DEAD

I’m currently on a “eat small portions several times a day and get as many calories as you can no matter where they come from” diet due to some health issues that have led to me being severely underweight (despite my best efforts to keep the weight on). I wanted ice cream as one of my high calorie foods, but since I can’t have dairy and I already tried their vegan Chocolate Fudge Brownie flavor a few years ago and loved it, I decided to get my ice cream from these guys. At the time of writing this review, I ate it five hours ago and I STILL want to cry because of how dang GOOD it was! It took every molecule of self control I had to not to grab the pint and eat the whole thing at once! The cookie dough is the BEST chocolate chip cookie dough I’ve ever tasted, the vanilla ice cream itself was smooth and insanely sweet (think vanilla ice cream covered in chocolate syrup, but without the taste of chocolate), and the chocolate pieces tasted like semisweet chocolate chips that actually tasted good instead of gross and bitter. Once I know how my body tolerates it, if it tolerates it well, I will absolutely be buying more! Thank you, Ben and Jerry, for giving me the option to actually BUY ice cream again instead of having to attempt to make some if I want a sweet frozen treat!

Just okay

It's not terrible, but it's not exactly good. It isn't the same texture/consistency as typical ice cream, it has a weird buttery texture and isn't as smooth as milk ice cream, it also tastes way too sweet and buttery??? It's pretty much like eating the normal ice cream but with almond flavored butter. I've had plenty of other almond milk ice creams made with regular consistency but for some reason they felt the need to make this one buttery. The cookie dough is great but the flavor of the "vanilla" ice cream is horrible. Not good quality for almost $5.

Nasty taste and texture

SO GROSS! The ice cream part tastes like frozen unsweetened almond milk with a weird, slimy texture. It’s not worth it; either eat real ice cream or nothing. I am not picky at all and will eat anything but this is straight up foul.

Super good!

This ice cream is super creamy, pretty sweet, and has a similar texture to real ice cream! I am pleasantly surprised because most “cookie dough” ice cream has barely any dough pieces but this is PACKED with cookie dough. 2-3 dough bites per spoonful. I love eating cookie dough straight up so this is great. Its very rich, like real ice cream, so I cant eat more than half the carton at a time. Still, its super delicious! I got a great deal on this ice cream which was 2 for $6 and each tub was $6 so that was even better! I highly recommend. If you dont like this ice cream or want to try something new, I also highly recommend SoDelicious Cashew Milk Ice Creams.

Too Almondy, Doesn't Taste Like Dairy Version

While it's nice to have a non-dairy alternative for those of us who are lactose intolerant, I wish it tasted like the dairy version. Unfortunately, to me, it tastes too much like the almond milk and coconut oil that they used to make it. This makes it taste weird and unappealing. I won't be buying it again and instead will continue eating the dairy version and taking my lactaid pill.
