Do NOT buy this product. My daughters birthday was ruined by the mess this stuff made. Literally just slid off the cake in a puddle. I was concerned when I began to frost the cooled cake layers as the frosting was very thin and drippy coming out of the container. I have used the chocolate frostings on vanilla cakes with no problem but that was Pilsbury brand. This was a first time using vanilla frosting on a chocolate cake and it will be my last. We placed the cake in the refrigerator over night to help it set up. Took it out and placed it on the table for the party and it looked okay so put the cover back on. I have always used Betty Crocker frosting but this time the quality was terrible! This was a very recently purchased can. First off the consistency was very different. It was sticky and the frosting remained very sticky on my cupcakes many hours later. The taste was not good and there was a grainy sugary texture in the frosting when you ate it. I honestly have to say I was shocked at how horribly bad it was. I would have never expected this from a Betty Crocker product.

I used to really like this frosting. I would frost my chocolate raspberry cake with it but the last few times that I have bought it, it is very thin and it basically slides down the sides of the cake. I make sure that the cake has been in the refrigerator for at least an hour and is cold to the touch. I'm afraid I will need to think of a different topping for my chocolate raspberry cake. It's a two-layer 9 in cake and it just doesn't cover well enough. I don't have an issue with other store-bought frostings and I always purchase Betty Crocker cake mix and frostings. In order to get this cake to look presentable, I would need two cans of the buttercream frosting instead of one and I'm just not prepared to do that.
I bought this icing instead of my usual go to icing by Pillsbury ( Funfetti to ho with Funfetti cake) because ibotta was running a cash back deal on the Betty Crocker icing. I got vanilla since that is basically what my norm is except it comes witg sprinkles. I had sprinkles at home because I can always get 2 uses out of 1 Pillsbury Icing...when I say 2 uses, I mean I can use 1 box of cake mix to make 2- 8 inch round cakes and I only use half the tub of Pillsbury icing and I use the other half of icing on 2 more 8 inch round cakes. This is why I have sprinkles at home as you only get enough to put on one cake ( 2 layer- 8 inch round cake) . I thought maybe it was a bad batch...I had bought 2....But, the same thing happened on the next tub of icing.. Then, I thought I should look at the reviews on this icing and Just as I figured, other people are complaining anout this happening to them... some say they changed the recipe. I here to say No Bueno Betty Crocker. How do you make a product and/or change a recipe and not test your product prior to mass producing it? ....Is it because you literally do not care about the people who have bought/ buy ur products...The people who have made you tons of money and the huge company you are today. Are you so rich now that you simply do not care and are willing to sacrifice quality ingredients for cheap ingredients to put even more money in your pocket? if so, you will lose in the end. If due to covid the quality ingredients aren't available then cease production till u find a an exact match or comparable ingredient rather than upsetting and / or losing life long or new customers... get it together Betty Crocker because this is unacceptable.

I keep forgetting food in the U.S. allows ANYTHING for consumption, with price up and quality in the gutter. THIS is NOT real food. But don't feel bad Betty Crocker, all the other brands' frosting SUCKS TOO. This is a great frosting to use when decorating homemade cupcakes or cakes. Does take color easily with food coloring or gel colors. I will say, from experience, you need more frosting than you expect, especially if you are using a piping bag. Using a knife or spatula, you can use less. This is a softer frosting, it doesn't crust, so be careful with desserts because you can easily bump and mess up your hard work! Vanilla isn't overly sweet which is nice. Works well with yellow or confetti cakes.

After I got all of the frosting nice and smooth and piped a border and did the birthday message, as well as piped all the cupcakes it was a total mess within a few hours. Made a four layer nine inch round cake, and 50 cupcakes. It was every single cupcake and the cake round I made, so it wasn't one bad cup of frosting(half was chocolate and half was vanilla frosting of this brand). I made this for a birthday party I had to trash ALL of it!!! Betty Crocker always has easy to follow instructions, while making sure that the product still tastes great. The package is easy to open with a rip tear at the top, butter and egg are all you need on hand in order to make these great tasting cookies. We did ours without frosting, but next time we are planning to buy the frosting to go with the cookies, because we plan to keep these on hand in our house. The cinnamon wasn’t too overpowering, but it also wasn’t underwhelming to us. It was the perfect blend to give us a cookie taste with a cinnamon toast taste. My daughter loves that the instructions are easy for her to follow so she doesn’t need help mixing them or cooking. She yields 12 cookies out of the bag she made. We highly recommend them.
