The new ECE Gringo range sizes ever so slightly smaller than the originals. The Biltwell Gringo S has a sleek, old-school aesthetic reminiscent of simpler days. Building on the succes of the already iconic Gringo helmet, Biltwell have incorporated a hinged visor to create the Gringo S. The Gringo helmets have always combined sleek design with protective features, but Biltwell have now updated them to receive ECE 22.05 certification, making the Gringo and Gringo S road legal in Europe and the UK. At first glance, not much has changed: the Gringo S still has its beautiful, slim profile ABS shell with a simple but effective hinged visor system. Not too many bells and whistles to deduct from the sleek design that matches just about any bike out there. The visor itself might look the same at first glance, but is now made using injection-molding technology, making it too ECE approved. The EPS foam has been improved to absorb more impact, and the chin bar received a big overhaul with a soft closed cell foam backed up by a thick layer of EPS foam. Biltwell have managed to seriously up the safety aspect of the Gringo S, while still offering a slim, lightweight helmet with an extremely comfortable fit at a very attractive price point.
