Best micellar water I’ve tried so far. After getting irritation and dry patches with Garnier varieties, I read about this and gave it a go - happy I did! It’s much more gentle than Garnier’s and I feel like my skin still has moisture after cleansing with this product. I use it on a larger cotton round saturated with this and it works great to remove all traces of face makeup without harsh rubbing or tugging. No need to rinse afterward, but I usually use it as first step in double cleanse, as this works best for my skin and amount of makeup I wear. It will sting a bit if you get too close to the eye inadvertently, so I take off eye makeup before using this product to avoid that. Leaves my skin feeling smooth and clean, ready for second cleanse, but even on lazy nights where I can’t be asked to do my whole routine, it works well to remove everything and I don’t wake up with breakouts, dryness, or irritation. Great on no makeup days for a quick clean, too. Bigger bottle (16.7 fl. oz.) lasts me two to three months with near daily use, and it comes in a mini size that’s perfect for travel. Love this product.

Bioderma is well known to be the company to officially make THE first micellar water product, and have been doing so for 20 years without fail. I was gifted this recently and while I've tried many cheaper alternatives of micellar waters on the market, I really didn't think that the brand of micellar would actually make a difference. After all, it is basically tiny oil particles (micelles) suspended in water. But for some crazy reason these Bioderma micelles are incredibly good at attracting and removing dirt, impurities and makeup from the skin. I don't know how Bioderma have made this water so darn good and much better than others but I am hooked anyway!\n\nPackaging:\nThe clean, fresh packaging just screams French sophistication to me. And the blue theme also reflects is respect for water and moisturising properties. The flip top cap and dispenser also make applying this to a cotton pad a super easy and clean process.\n\nFormula:\nThere isn't too much to say of the formula in terms of consistency and scent - because it feels and smells like actual water. I love this about the micellar water, it not so heavily fragranced and makes it seem like you are putting something totally pure on your face. Even though it contains tiny oil particles, you can't actually feel them or see them, it's like a total surprise. The formula doesn't irritate my skin or my eyes like some other makeup removers have, nor leave any residue on my face whatsoever. You can really get a sense that whatever this product is doing in terms of removing impurities, it's doing it really gently and respecting your skins properties and needs. The formula isn't drying either - again something I've experienced with regular makeup removers.\n\nApplication:\nI regularly use this after my daily cleanser instead of a toner and find it fits my needs perfectly. Usually, after cleansing I will have a black cloud makeup around my eye area that water didn't remove (I don't use a cleanser on my eyes) and I use this micellar water not only to eliminate this leftover makeup, but to also wipe over my face and clean up any excess product on my face. The thing that really sets this micellar water apart from other alternatives is the ease of use and efficiency at getting rid of excess eye makeup. It even removes waterproof mascara or stubborn makeup without the need for dragging over my delicate eye area, where the skin is the thinnest. For easier makeup residue, I will just gently swipe a cotton pad with micellar water over my eye area and it removes it pretty darn easily without any dragging or rubbing. For waterproof mascara or stubborn stains, I use it by putting soaked cotton pads over my eyes and leaving them sitting on there for about a minute before I wipe them slowly and gently over my eyes and gets rid of all traces. My eye area health is of extreme importance to me and I am always conscious of the mechanical action around my eyes so the fact that I don't have to rub the micellar water pads roughly over my eyes makes this Bioderma Micellar Water a league above the competitors. Another way I use it is in the morning before I head off my lab for work. Instead of cleansing - which always makes me overproduce sebum, I just swipe it over my skin as a refresher and cleansing agent to remove any impurities I've accumulated from sleep - especially if my pillowcases are due for a clean. It's also super effective in cleaning up any makeup messes, and I make a few of them! It's especially useful in cleaning up crisp lines of winged eyeliner or any mascara messes, just soak a cotton tip ear cleaner in it and you get a really precise point to clean up any lines or patches.\n\nFinal verdict: \nAs I said, I really didn't think there would be too much of a difference between brands of micellar water but boy was I wrong - this micellar water exceeded all my expectations gained from previous usage of other micellar products. The reason why I think this will be a cult favourite as the original micellar water is that it is so much more effective than the others on the market and doesn't require any heavy mechanical action to assist in removing makeup and impurities, it does it all on its own! Other brands have tried to copy this formula but I don't think they anywhere near it just yet! Yes the price is a deal more expensive than the competitors but you know you are paying for a quality product.\n

This is my favorite micellar water formula, due to the inclusion of niacinamide, which my skin loves. It's as effective as the pink capped Bioderma, which I have also used and loved, but I like this one slightly more. I use it as a makeup remover for most days when I am wearing light makeup, but for more heavy duty makeup I prefer the speed and convenience of an oil cleanser. It does remove everything, but if you're wearing a lot of makeup you'll need to go through quite a few cotton pads and it'll be a tedious process -- ain't nobody got time for that. I don't look for lasting effects from something that's designed to clean my skin. However, I do find that it doesn't dehydrate, strip, or disturb the acid mantle of my skin, and that's really all I require beyond getting my skin clean. As an aside, please be aware that the Garnier micellar water with the blue cap is NOT comparable to this at all, though the pink capped version is very similar to the pink capped Bioderma. The price is reasonable if you buy the large bottle, as it really lasts a long time. Packaging is a squeeze bottle that closes very securely, but you can't actually remove the entire cap which makes decanting for travel very inconvenient. They do make smaller, travel sized bottles, but this is still annoying.

I use this in two ways: • In the morning on a cotton pad, gently wiped over my eyes and face to gently cleanse and remove excess slime from the previous night's slug life. • After cleansing at night to remove leftover scraps of makeup. I have never been able to rely on any micellar water on its own for makeup removal in the past. They simply aren't destructive enough and cannot break down my eye makeup easily - I'd rather do a double cleanse and then use a micellar water to go back and get any last bits. This has been doing a great job at these two tasks, which I expect any micellar water to do in order for me to love it. On top of this, it does not sting my eyes, which was my reason for switching brands in the first place. It actually feels quite soothing and refreshing in the morning, and being able to leave it on my skin without irritation or splashing it off with water is a bonus. It has helped my skin to be less red without the extra contact from hard tap water. My only qualm has been that the cap is difficult to open; one of the hinges broke on this bottle. Not a deal-breaker, but this caveat makes the packaging somewhat imperfect. • I will for sure be sticking to this, and it is regularly on sale. Because I am using this in the mornings now as well I am going through it more quickly than I would with another micellar water, but its gentle formula and the bouncy, instantly-hydrated texture it gives to my skin makes it worth a more frequent repurchase. Ingredients in the comments.

Best micellar, but not as good as oil
20 June 2020

I wanted a micellar water for nights that I can't be bothered oil cleansing, or for helping take off really intense makeup. And I will say, this is the best micellar water I have used. I can't say it that I have seen any effects on hydration, except that it definitely doesn't strip my skin or dry it out like others do. But, I find myself having to really, really work with it to remove waterproof makeup. I was going to give it four stars for that reason, but I am giving it 5 stars because it still is the best micellar water I've tried. I prefer oil cleansing, but thats definitely not for everyone, and some people have bad reactions to it. So if you need a micellar water, this one is it. For those using this as a first cleanse, make sure to use a real cleanser after! I find that this truly only does the job of a micellar water. You will not feel "clean" after using it, you will just have the first layer of gunk removed.

Good

I've been using this micelar water for a long time. It's very good at removing makeup, even stubborn mascara, and you don't need too much of it. It has a floral scent that lingers for a little bit and is also a little strong. This big bottle is very convenient, but you gotta push the pump down slowly, otherwise it will squirt the liquid everywhere. I don't feel like it's hydrating, but it definitely doesn't strip the skin of it's natural moisture. It also doesn't leave any residue.

Great product but has strong but pleasant clean fragrance

I shower in the morning so I mostly use this product at the end of the day to cleanse residue from sunscreen, skincare products and anything else from my neck and ears that my facial cleanser won’t reach. I don’t use makeup but occasionally wear a gel bronzer and this takes it right off at the end of the day. Overall it does a good job and is gentle and hydrating, even in delicate areas like my eyes. I really like the clean scent but I still wish it was toned down or not included. The bottle is huge and lasts 9 months after opening.

I love Bioderma micellar water for years and years. It really does clean my skin perfectly at the end of the day. It’s great for cleaning up any mistakes I make, with a cotton swab or pad, while I’m doing my makeup. This micellar water and the one for sensitive skin with the pink top have never caused any negative reaction with my skin. Doesn’t break me out. Doesn’t dry my skin out. The only Con is that it does not take off waterproof mascara. I’m so happy to have found this on the Target website! I had no idea I could get it here, and it’s $3 less that where I have been purchasing it.

Micellar water fan now!

I wasn't expecting much from this micellar water because I thought it was just water. But it actually worked! I wet a cotton pad with a few splashes and it was enough to completely remove my make up, including mascara and eye liner. It felt completely gentle around my eye area. I felt no irritation or burning. I didn't have to apply much pressure at all. My skin felt incredibly clean and soft and not dried out. There was no reidue left behind. I was amazed at how well something that seemed as gentle as water was able to remove my makeup and leave my face feeling clean and fresh. This H2O micellar water felt pure and gentle.

Moisturising cleanser

I used to use the Bioderma miscellar cleanser with the pink top but changed to this one which is supposed to be better for dehydrated skin. I like them both very much but do think this feels more hydrating on my older skin. It certainly removes my make up and I use it round my eyes with no problems at all. Last weekend 5 members of my family had full on face painting done and although I had to use nearly half my bottle it removed everything on faces from age 6 to 78! No one complained at all or had any reactions.
