These boots are famous for a reason. I wasn’t drawn in by the aesthetic, but I live in the Pacific Northwest so rain is a part of my everyday experience. My family and I enjoy exploring different terrain and going for hikes, so it’s important for footwear to be practical. I also have been making a conscious effort to try to reduce my carbon footprint and buy fewer things with better quality so as to not needlessly contribute to waste and landfills. Blundstones are not cheap, but they are known for holding up to wear and tear extremely well and lasting a very long time. Breaking these in is a bit of a chore. Rain didn’t pose a problem at all, which is exactly what I was hoping for. The soles are nice and thick with good grip. I got mine in the Steel Gray colour, which is more of a brown grey, despite the name, so they are a safe neutral that go with just about anything. I love layering wooly socks in them too. I like seeing the color change through wear and tear so that they’re developing a lovely patina. I’m very pleased with this purchase and hope that I’ll have them for years to come.

I ended up going with a bigger size than I thought I would’ve needed, but I’m glad I did. My toes feel like there’s enough wiggle room.I’m the past when I’ve had a new pair of boots - rubber boots, cowboy boots, work boots - I always get terrible blisters on my heels, even after they’ve been broken in.However, I’ve been extremely pleased with these boots. No blisters! And I never feel like I gotta sit down to take my boots off and give my feet a rest. I’ve been able to wear them all day for hiking, working and shopping and have forgotten that I even have feet. I haven’t owned them long enough to speak to quality, but judging by others I know, they’ve been wearing theirs for 5-10 years with lots of life left. I’ve got high hopes for this pair.

Ordered the Brown but received the Black. Then learned that they wanted me to pay to return the item though its their mistake. Unless I had their store card. That was the bad part that dropped this from a 5 star experience to a 3. As for the product, it is great a 5 star by itself in my opinion. Good quality and comfotable. I have not had a pair of boots in a while because the cheap ones are uncomfortable and the good ones are usually too expensive. But these were on sale so it hit the sweet spot for value. The reviews said to take a size smaller with these. Im usually a 9.5 and ordered a 9. That worked well for me especially with thicker boot socks. Some reviews said it was too tight on the top of the foot. I did not have that issue and I usually wear 9W. I wore ... MoreOrdered the Brown but received the Black. Some reviews said it was too tight on the top of the foot. I did not have that issue and I usually wear 9W. I wore these all day a few times to work ( as a college instructor) on rainy days and had no issues. They pair well with casual and business casual attire in my opinion. I do think the brown would have looked better though.
I saw these at the Faherty store in Charleston and immediately came home and ordered them. They were the exact style I was looking for. I would say sizing is accurate. I did not size down or up. The problem is, the boot is painful on my left foot where the triangle is on the boot. It hurts so much that is bruises my foot even when sitting for most of the day. The right boot is completely fine. I've never had this problem with any other shoes, so I don't believe it's my foot. I love the look but it seems these are going to be expensive boots that sit in my closet.
To be honest, they were hesitant to cover the warranty at first, with good reason. My boots were old. However, I wrote them back explaining that they were not used to an extent that the sole was worn down. However, they were part of the former faulty soles that began cracking and disintegrating. I honestly had no idea of their warranty policy until recently, otherwise I would have done this sooner. Either way, with further explanation they replaced the boots and even a half size larger (this was the reason why I didn’t wear them often)! Very impressed and when these boots wear down in a natural and due course way, I will be more than happy to replace them myself!
Probably my 10th pair of 500s. So sad they’re made overseas. The soles disintegrated prematurely on my last pair. The sole came away from the heel on the right boot, probably from ‘kicking’ that boot off. I’ve read the advice about soles disintegrating so will wear them regularly and try to be more careful when taking them off. Because I was unhappy with the life of my last pair, I purchased a pair of Redbacks at the same time as they’re made in Australia, about half the price and received great reviews on-line. The Redbacks are tight across my foot and feel ‘higher’ than the Blunnies. It’s hard to explain but my foot feels better planted in the Blunnies. The top of the Redbacks is much looser and they ride up and down my heels more than the 500s. The 500s feel ... MoreProbably my 10th pair of 500s. So sad they’re made overseas. The Redbacks are too ‘worksite’ to wear in the office. All up, I regret buying the Redbacks at the moment but this may change as I break them in. I’d like to update this review in 6 months but I’m not that well organised.
I’d give these ten stars if I could! I’m from the UK and when I moved to Australia a good friend introduced me to Blundies. My first pair lasted me 5 years: this included trudging the SW Forrest’s of Western Australia, hiking through the rugged terrain of NW WA and even pulling pearling pots up out at the Abrolhos Islands ~ not forgetting working on my feet for 10+ hours a day. These baby’s lasted me well and, over time, they mould to your feet perfectly. My new ones are just as fab ~ I like that after some time I can add my own insert into them for extra comfort, however that’s only personal preference. I highly recommend getting some bamboo socks from ‘Boody’ to go with your Blundies ~ so comfortable in cold or warm weather. I tried the lace up style but these suit me better. So worth every cent! Thanks team 😃
My experience with Blundstones has been very disappointing; I don't understand the hype for these at all. The only plus side for me has been that the waterproof quality is awesome, and I hugely appreciate a lack of wet socks living in the PNW. However after half a year of wearing these in multiple terrains for different hikes and travels they still feel so uncomfortable to me. The top of the boot is so stiff and rigid that it feels like my ankle and foot can't quite flex properly with a normal step. Every time I wear these my feet feel like they need two days to recover. I'm not really a "boot person" but I've owned far more comfortable boots than these and I just really don't understand why these are so popular. There are far better and cheaper options out there. ... MoreMy experience with Blundstones has been very disappointing; I don't understand the hype for these at all. I’ve had my eye on this brand for a while now and I really wish that I wouldn’t have waited so long. These boots are lightweight, easy on and off, waterproof up to the webbing and they just look great. The only issue I had was the break in period. The tops of these boots were extremely tight and uncomfortable for the first couple of weeks. There were a couple of times where I just had to take them off right in the middle of a restaurant, or in my office to get some relief. If I wasn’t so committed to trying to make these work I would have returned them. I’ve seen posts online of others having this same problem and a few even say it never goes away. I would highly recommend these boots to those with the patience to break them in.
