My family and I must maintain a strict gluten free diet due to celiac disease. For more than ten years, we did not eat oats because it was included with the list of foods that were off limits: wheat, rye, barley, and oats. Then we learned that oats didn't actually have the offensive gluten in its composition, but was contaminated by farming procedures. Well, I thought, that's good to know — we'll just grow our own oats, not really, that's a location joke: we lived in central Texas which is rocky ranch country, not suitable for farming. Then I read that Bob's Red Mill, which had long since proven itself as a reliable provider of truly safe gluten free products, was growing their own oats, on their own wheat-free fields, harvested with equipment that has never touched ... We welcomed Bob's Red Mill Gluten Free Oats into our cooking & discovered some new, favorite recipes and resurrected some old favorites. Bob's Red Mill Steel Cut Oats was something different from the regular cuts of oats & quickly became a breakfast favorite with its nutty texture. Toppings of butter & maple syrup are current favorites with plans to try cinnamon apple topping soon.

Most steel cut oats from different brands are very similar. Chop one oat kernel 3 ways, 3 chops on a whole kernel. Great fiber for intestines.Different brands vary in price, texture refinement. I prefer BOB's cut for me. Eggs and toast for breakfast lasts me 1 hour, oats for breakfast with banana, or fruit lasts me 5 hours, just my experience.

This is some tuff cooking super absorbent oatmeal, but if you do it right it is the best. I use my Instant pot on the "porridge" setting for 40 minutes at a 1 to 4 ratio. This makes several servings all at once which I store in the refrigerator, then heat it up in the microwave in the morning.Compared to Coach's, Bob's requires a lot more cooking time. Unlike Coach's I like that Bob's doesn't come with glyphosate (Roundup) in it.

Sometimes, instead of my usual oatmeal flakes, I crave the thickest oatmeal, so I opt for steel-cut oats. I exclusively cook it in a hot pot because cooking on the stove takes even longer. If you want to prepare it in a pressure cooker, I set it to the Pressure Cook mode and leave it for 8 to 10 minutes to ensure it cooks properly. I believe oatmeal of this kind makes for a healthy and nutritious breakfast option if you want to diversify your oatmeal dishes.
These are so delicious & light as I prepare it at night to hv in the morning. Very light n tasty for breakfasts. Quality & taste is very good. Very filling portions of serving. Can add some nuts n fruits according to ur tastes. Beneficial to use. The method of making is very easy the way I do it. Boil 3 cups of water n then add one cup of these grains. Just one minute n remove the pan from the heat. Let it cool down n store it in a glass container n keep in the fridge for a week. Can eat every morning.
Bounced back and forth between this and whole grain oats. Both have health benefits but steel cut are considered having a tad more, plus I like the taste and consistency better than whole grain. I like the chewiness; takes more effort to chew. I use a number of items in this product line; haven't found a dud in any of them! The only negative I would say about this one is time it takes to prepare. I'm lazy and don't want to take the time to watch it so I cook entire bag in Instant Pot and then put serving size quantities in freezer bags & mash 'em down so they're pretty flat. Makes for easy storage in freezer & a quick nuke to eat.
Just make sure you give these organic steel cut oats a try! Believe me there's nothing better! I've been eating this for over 15 years every morning. Do I get tired of eating the same thing for breakfast every day? NO! I know I'm doing my body good by eating Bob's Red Mill oats! I put walnuts, pumpkin seeds, chia seeds, sesame seeds, bananas, wheat germ, cinnamon, strawberries and blueberries in my oats every morning. It's so yummy!!! Thanks Bob Red Mill for making excellent products! It truly is the BEST oatmeal you can buy and put in your body! YOUR THE BEST! Keep up the quality work! All your customers appreciate all your hard work your company does for all of us! It's breakfast time heading to kitchen to eat some of your yummy oatmeal! Yum ??
I have this for breakfast and it works with both sweet and savoury applications. I usually have one single portion and cook it on the stovetop for 20 to 30 minutes on low heat then let it stand on the stovetop with the heat off. I use it either with water or milk. The end result is a silky and smooth porridge. If you want some texture, you can cook it for a shorter time.
These oats are 1 ingredient only, so delicious and have been using them for almost a year now. They are also gluten free, which really makes this helps me for my gluten sensitivity. I literally find myself waking up every morning, excited to start my day with these oats. What I would do is add a bit of salt in it when cooking it, add greek yoghurt, peanut butter, fruits (bananas, berries) and bam.
Good quality and use good ingredient. Taste well and really perfect size bar. Friendly package and it’s benefit for fitness. A good protein source after training. Keep balanced diet when workout. Really like this brand and will continue purchasing it. I really like it. Good recommendation for breakfast. Perfect serving for adding
