This gasket / seal does the job! It protects the glass lid from breaking against the glass jar and it seals very well.As for how long it will hold up - I cannot speak to that, as I have only used it now for about a month.Not only have I put the jar outside - for sun tea, but I have kept it in the fridge (cold brew tea).The material does not impart any unwanted / unpleasant odor onto the tea which is nice.
These replacement gaskets were hard for me to find previously. Now I can replace worn ones, even if I buy jars at resale shops.
Very happy I could get a replacment for 25 year old wedding present! Just like new. The fit is a bit snug. I believe it will loosen over time a bit.
