I was given some of these jars as an engagement gift 35 years ago.At the time I thought they were just for preserving but soon found out how fantastic they were for food storage. I have added to my collection over the years and with a new walk in pantry I had to add to my collection - now over 50 in sizes to suit all my dry goods! I have only ever broken one jar but kept the lid and wire as a spare. They keep everything beautifully fresh and visible in the clear jars. I find the clip seals so easy to use even now I have an issue with strength in my hands and wrists. I plan to use these for many more years to come.

Love this jar. Have a whole collection of jars but these ones I find especially great for certain things because of the big wide mouth on them and the tight seal they create. I mostly use these for fermenting foods on my bench - water kefir, kombucha. Will definitely be buying more so I can use in the pantry too.

Within 2 weeks of using it broke when I was washing it. I had been using it to build a larger amount of sourdough starter for baking, so when that was accomplished I decided to move my starter to a smaller container & wash this one. While mixing discarded starter with water, I tapped it slightly, inside the jar with a metal spoon (no harder then when I was mixing stair with a metal dough wisk) and a large section of one side broke. Thank goodness this happened in the sink. I would have given it no stars, but that is not allowed. No I would not recommend it. Not worth one penny.

For me, these are the perfect storage jars. Airtight, but see through, they are great for stroing all my dry foodstuffs and ingredients in the pantry. They can be easily taken apart and the lids and jars washed in the dishwasher if they get a bit grubby. I recently also bought replacement seals and have now put new seals on jars I haveused for 20 years.
I am loving the Bormioli Rocco Fido Jar Herm 1.0L. I initially wanted the 2.0L jar but they were not in stock. As it turns out the 1.0L jar is perfect. My pickled beetroot looks great in one jar and my fresh ginger and honey concoction looks just as good in the other. Great size, shape and look and great seal. Will purchase more.
These range of jars from 0.5 L, 0.75L, 1L and 1.5L all have the same sized square footprint. They just vary in height. Square footprint means less wasted space on the shelf. The lids are all the same size too - very handy for replacement rubber seals. I can get my lady-sized hand around the 1.5L jar but find the 2L jar needs both hands to pick it up safely. For ease of labelling the contents of the jar, I've painted chalkboard paint on one of the sides and also a small, flat patch on the bottom of the jar to write the "Best Before" date. The jars look awesome and are so practical!
This jar seems to be the perfect storage container. - Looks beautiful, - is air-tight, - it's all glass (the stainless steel doesn't touch the contents, easy to clean and is see-through), - it has a wide-mouth so it's easy to clean and get to your ingredients, - it's not too small so holds a decent amount and not too large so you can hold it with one hand easily and put it on smaller fridge shelves. - it's square in shape so sits next to other fidos well I hope kitchen warehouse will sell replacement wire bails one day as I'm sure one day they will need replacing and I won't know where to get one without having to replace the whole jar.
This jar is wonderful. Great size for placing the smaller jars inside - what for? Craft! Button, ribbons the lot. The jar is not that heavy you can't pick it up, but it is made out of excellent quality glass as you would expect from this divine brand. My only grizzle is how the jar tapers to the lid - why couldn't it be bigger???
This is a great size for pantry storage. In fact I have these jars in a range of sizes and am gradually replacing all my plastic. The contents of these jars stay fresh for an extended period due to the excellent seals. I find them particularly good for storing nuts. The square shape is perfect for fitting on pantry shelves also.
I am quite sure I have over a hundred of these jars in their various sizes and am always finding a need for more. The help to keep herbs, spices and baking supplies fresh in the pantry far longer than anything else I've tried. They are easy to take apart for cycling through the dishwasher (the metal clips oxidize if you don't remove them first). The opening is large enough to get my large lady hand into as well as a variety of brands of measuring cups up to 3/4c. I've dropped them many times and have only ever chipped 1 lid, so they are durable and I love that they're made in Italy.
