I brought this to plane a slab of swamp kauri (a dense wood) and it did an awesome job. It doesn't come with a chip catcher and the store I brought it from did not hold them in stock so I hooked up an old vacuum to collect chips as per the manual which worked fine.

I've had this for a few months now. Very handy tool. Super light to work with and powerful enough to tackle majority of jobs. Good dial setting for depth of cut and dial setting is notched for depth increments. Good value for money. The only negative is no accessories, ( dustbag, planer fence, etc). A dust bag or vacuum hose could be jerry rigged to fit.A brilliant addition in the tool cabinet.

I was initially put off by the lack of in the box extras like fence etc. So I purchased another brand which included all these extras. I was pretty unhappy with the product and assumed that electric hand planer were generally quite hard to use. Eventually I bought this Bosch planer and the difference was day and night. This planer is unbelievably easy to use and produces an excellent result even on very low quality wood. Recommended.
Fantastic product and value. Easy to use and great results. Superior to the one I had previously used. Cleaned up rough sawn cedar beams.
I had one many years ago, but did what one should not do, I lent it to a person who destroyed it. I ruined my belt sander because I did not have a planer. So I bought this one. Did not do much with it yet, but very happy with the few jobs I did.
Purchased for general DIY work. 1st job was to plane 10 doors 4-9mm to clear newly laid carpet. Did the work perfectly.
Easy to use once you get the hang of it which doesn't take long. Smooths out your work to leave a nice finish.
Good quality product for the price.
I purchased this over a year ago now, so this is a long term review. This unit surprised me, in both its power, and quality of cut. It's not too heavy, it has an 80mm machining width, adjustable depth gauge, and bevelling slots. I finally wore out the first blade 10 months into its use, after machining Rimu, Pine, Purple Heart, Eucalyptus and Lawson Cyprus. Purple Heart is hard as nails, and this unit ripped through it all. It's a DIY level planer, but bang for buck, I can recommend it 100%
