I am trying to replace my 14 year old Bose Companion 3 Series II speakers (still working but one speaker going out intermittently) These are nowhere near as good. The consistent great clarity and sound stage you expect from Bose is lacking in these speakers. These are mushy and don’t even sound like Bose. Other reviewers call this "warm." It’s not warm, it’s mushy and lacks typical Bose clarity. They sound like cheap PC speakers. Definitely not worth the price. If you can, listen to them in a store before you buy.Quality is also suspect. Already had a humming from them and had to wiggle wires in back of the main speaker to get rid of the hum. Definitely worries me about long term reliability.I love Bose, these just do not live up to typical Bose sound and ... MoreI am trying to replace my 14 year old Bose Companion 3 Series II speakers (still working but one speaker going out intermittently) These are nowhere near as good. The consistent great clarity and sound stage you expect from Bose is lacking in these speakers. Definitely miss the bass as well as the clarity. Will return these - already ordered Logitech Z625 2.1 system.

Got these yesterday to replace an old, inexpensive pair of Klipsch computer speakers with sub that connect to an older Samsung TV. Easy and convenient set up with volume control and jacks on the same speaker. The headphone to computer and aux in connections work fine and the cable is included. They're light, attractive speakers that leave a small footprint. But the sound isn't much better than what I get from the TV and the old, less expensive set-up blows these speakers away. I knew there'd be a difference without a subwoofer, but these border on unacceptable. They're in a small space and close to where I watch TV. They sound more like $35 not $145.00 dollar speakers. You're no doubt paying for rhe name.

I was pretty hesitant about spending so much on a set of PC speakers, but I've good experiences with a Bose Bluetooth speaker and a Bose sound system in our car. But let me say, after several weeks of use, these speakers are fantastic!I've previously purchased PC speakers ranging from $10 to $60 over the years, and these speakers are in a whole other class.I work from home and use the speakers for everything from Pandora stations, YouTube playlists, video and audio-only Zoom and MS Teams calls and meetings. I use my earbuds most of the time but also unplug them pretty often. The awesome thing is that the speakers adapt to the audio that's playing. So when I'm on meetings, the voice audio is crisp and clear, and when I'm playing my music - which is a mix of ... MoreI was pretty hesitant about spending so much on a set of PC speakers, but I've good experiences with a Bose Bluetooth speaker and a Bose sound system in our car. So when I'm on meetings, the voice audio is crisp and clear, and when I'm playing my music - which is a mix of rock, pop, EDM, instrumental, and contemporary religious - the speakers output the best sound for whatever I'm listening to.Even when switching between the speakers and the earbuds the sound is adjusted accordingly to match whatever I'm playing the sound through. The only thing I might recommend is that if you're going to be using headphones or earbuds with these speakers, get a 3.5mm headphone extender cable. The right speaker is the one with the headphone jack, and on a computer, the right side is where most people have the mouse. I use the extender cable to route the wire behind my monitors and have my earbuds connect on the left side, which is more convenient.

These speakers are great for someone who's looking for a sleek design and setup. They're relatively thin in size, so they fit great into a lower profile desk arrangement. The sound is really great too. They're really well balanced and the sounds comes out very clearly. They're plenty of bass in my opinion considering their design and the fact they have no subwoofer. I normally listen with the volume low because I sit so close to them, and they sound great with low volume. I've also cranked it up to almost 75% volume, and they sound great loud too. I've actually put these side by side with the Audioengine A2 speakers, and I thought these sounded better and were a better package overall. I'm very happy with my decision, and for purchasing these speakers. The only ... MoreThese speakers are great for someone who's looking for a sleek design and setup. So no wifi or bluetooth connection, but only AUX cable. So if you can accept that then I would definitely recommend these speakers. I got used to the AUX connection and it's really not a problem for me compared to what I first thought. The speakers come with a AUX cable also so you don't need to buy one. Hope this review helps anyone who's curious about these speakers.
I pondered the selection available in store and without being able to test these I said ok I'll buy them based off my past experience with a few Bose products. I read a few reviews that were not very favorable but still took a chance as speaker size was imperative to the smaller desk space I have. Once opened I was relieved that they sat perfect in my tiny area of desk space and their appearance was solid looking. I fired up some music and a slight smile graced my face, the tickling of spatial stereo separation imaging danced in my ears! The sound is more than I expected, not muddled and fake at all like I read in some reviews in fact I'm very much into this new sound! Very happy with my purchase! I'm coming from Companion 3, 17-year-old speakers with a subwoofer. I expected these to be of similar quality considering they're newer when taking the subwoofer down so I'm just testing speakers to speakers. It's not what I would expect from Bose. Volume doesn't go as high(very noticeable for a 150 system) and sound quality isn't as good/clear at louder levels, and of course, the base is not as good but I wasn't expecting it to be this bad. As it is advertised that there's subwoofer included in these. The difference is so disappointing I'll be returning these. :( In my opinion, you're better off buying a Bluetooth portable speaker at $120(SoundLink Micro) and it sounds louder and of decent enough quality than this one.
I limped along for years with what-had-been a gorgeous sound system from Cambridge Soundworks. The hookups to the speakers had lost essential parts so I rigged it together. The trouble was the house cleaner jarred it every two weeks and I had to pull out the duck tape and fix it AGAIN! Finally, my Bose Quiet Comfort earbuds convinced me to stop messing around and get real speakers. These Bose speakers are the real deal. Simple, reliable, gorgeous sound. I wish they had a bit more base but I can live with what I have quite happily.
These speakers are small, but super clear. They're great for gaming. I use them with my XBOX Series X. I stream Spotify while gaming. They pack a punch. I wish they carried a touch more low end. When watching Hulu/Disney+ I noticed those Streaming services tend to run a lot lower in volume than video games. This usually means you'll be at full volume when watching a movie, and then at 30% to 50% volume for gaming. A little more headroom would be nice, this may be more of an issue with streaming services. Overall super happy with the price.
I am normally a headphone user. My go-to pair are the Sennheiser 560S which are great headphones. But recently, I decided to not use them as often and instead use my computer speakers. The speakers I had were some $30 Insignia speakers, which got the job done, but left me unsatisified. That's when I decided to purchase these. After installing them, I was pleasently surprised to find that the bass is still very clear without a sub. Now, it is important to note that clear is not the same as strong. If you want some strong bass, I would recommend looking for other speakers with a sub. However, the music I listen too doesn't contain to much bass, and for that purpose these speakers sound excellent. The top end was the most impressive, with percussion being more clear ... MoreI am normally a headphone user. My go-to pair are the Sennheiser 560S which are great headphones. The top end was the most impressive, with percussion being more clear than expected, without intruding on the mids at all. They're not top of the line audiophile speakers, but they still sound incredible, and in my opinion would still sell if they costed over $200. You're not going to find anything better for the money, so I suggested pulling the trigger and picking up some of these Bose speakers.
I thought spending the extra money it would at least sound be clear. It turned out sounding like talking into your hand or a paper towel roll making everything sound like an audiobook. The sound was really disappointing coming from Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 BestBuy stopped carrying. The Bose which cost more only have one small driver on these versus midrange and highs with the Klipsch. If you plan on plugging earbuds or a headphones into these powered speakers you really have to turn them to max to get the same volume as plugging directly in your computer. Yes that does mean if you listening to music and happen to pull the cord out your volume with be extremely loud and might scare the heck out of you.
