You can choose from a wired connection via HDMI, optical cable or via Bluetooth for a wireless solution. The Bose music app is required for optimisation and helps ease set up to a professional standard. You need to go through a calibration to your specific room set up, which should technically only take 10 minutes but the app did freeze a couple of times so it ended up taking over an hour. However, once you have it set up, it performs exceptionally. There is an option to extend with additional Bose devices, however this feels unnecessary as the high quality of sound demonstrated should satisfy even the most demanding audiophile.Connecting to Google Assistant was easy and it seems to be able to isolate my voice better even with background noise so no more confused Google comments! It's great to be able to adjust the volume just by speaking. The other option is to link it up to a smart TV, which theoretically should turn it on to whichever channel you want. I haven't managed to set this up yet as it seems a bit fiddly but I am sure it will be easy to use once I get over the initial setup hurdle.

Connection to Amazon Alexa and also Amazon Music worked seamlessly, with the latter available to be controlled through the Bose App (Google Assistant also worked well). The Bose App is very simple to use and doubles up as a second Remote Control and acts the single point to control all supplementary modules / speakers if you have them. The Bose App provides further options to calibrate / personalise the sound bar. I found the standard bass setting a little too much for normal TV viewing, but this can easily be adjusted. Using the sound bar as a music speaker is great and with the added benefit of Amazon Alexa and Amazon Music compatibility, streaming music is made hassle-free.Running SkyQ I have been able to link my SkyQ remote with the sound bar, and as such only require a single remote to control the volume, the sound bar also wakes up on activation of the optical port when the TV is turned on. Further smart features can be adopted via Bose's Voice4Video feature; however, due to the age of my TV and use of an optical cable rather than HDMI, I have not used this feature.Overall, this is a excellent piece of kit, which has been easy to use and created a much more immersive TV viewing experience.

Once the update eventually completed the sound can be configured to suit your space using a clever device that you move around the room. Once set up the sound is very good quality and not overpowering, I was concerned there would much base as I've experienced with home cinema systems previously. I have even been listening to a lot more music as it's so easy and sounds great. I've found turning it on and off via the app a little tricky and switching between TV and phone, it seems to turn the TV on and off. Watching films is much more enjoyable and the app has an option to switch on dialogue mode so speech is clearer and not drowned out by the background music. I have struggled to hear speech in films for a long time so I'm very pleased with this feature. It's very sleek and sits perfectly underneath the TV. I would expect to get many years of use out of it, overall very happy with it.

High-definition sound

And it's a substantial upgrade in all but one aspect. The soundbar is a sizeable piece of kit, and aesthetically only suitable for a large set. Our TV is 55 inches and almost dwarfed by the soundbar. So discreet I've forgotten to turn it off, which can only be a good thing. A white light will also flash when Alexa has a notification. On the all-important question about sound quality, you'll find plenty of other detailed reviews online that get more technical than I ever could. All I can say is that it's like going from standard definition to UHD in one hit. Cars pass from left to right and you know it. The vast width really ramping up the stereo capability. There is volume to the sound, and the atmospheric elements of a TV show, the shuffling of papers, for instance, become clear, not a muffled fluff. It's simply another level of clarity.Like the previous soundbar, Bose's doesn't support Apple Music directly, or through Alexa. Without Sonos in the same room, that would be a downgrade for me, and if you're looking to pair with other speakers, something to check on if Apple Music is a needed feature for you. Having said that, a single soundbar for a music afficianado isn't going to be the right solution for you anyway.Where I get frustrated, and the reason for the dropped star, is that it continuously disconnects from the TV. Plugged in via HDMI, the TV on switch will recognise the Atmos enabled unit but not produce sound. You need to cycle through the sound settings until it re-pairs with the unit. Might be the TV, but a 2020 Samsung should talk to a 2021 Bose without issue.

This is an impressive piece of kit. It's not just a sound bar, the voice recognition and syncing to other devices makes this a multifunctional item that certainly enhances our viewing. The look and feel of the product is classic Bose - good quality, looks great and is very sleek. We have a modest size living room and I was interested to see how the product looked as well as how it sounded. From a aesthetic perspective, it was great, I didn't feel like it needed to be hidden or disguised. The sound is incredible, I wasn't sure whether the sound would overpower the room, but it was rich and deep and is fantastic when watching movies. I would say if you're really into watching movies and tv shows that benefit from an enhanced sound experience then this is a good option and worth the money.

Looks and sounds top quality

I've been enjoying this Soundbar for a few days now. As a standalone sound bar it does an impressive job of filling the room with sound. It doesn't compare to the full true 5.1 setup we have elsewhere in the house (but how could it without a separate sub and surrounds) but the Atmos "height" is noticeable and a step up on life before this with a competitors standalone sound bar. A notable downside is that it doesn't deliver the rumbling base associated with big screen action movie experience. I wouldn't expect it to match having a separate subwoofer but thought it might deliver more given its size. On that, it is long so it does not exactly blend in but the quality and finish on it make it worth seeing. The glass top reflects the excellent build quality. The room correction adjustment feature seemed to work well. I've had mixed results with it in terms of surround sound so far - could notice the difference with Atmos content, using the height of the room with the speakers in the top of the unit that kick sound up. There is a bit more of a sense of the surround sound content coming from "somewhere" other than right down the middle but not the same 360 feeling one has with a true 5.1 system. Generally it has a balanced sound profile, dialogue was clear and music streamed to the bar held its own (minus the thumping base as mentioned above). It's a keeper from my perspective and I expect a system one could build into amazing home theatre with the addition of others Bose speakers and a sub.

The Bose Smart Sound Bar 900 is a top-quality product that I would recommend to a friend. It is well packaged and comes with both a HDMI cable and optical cable in the box, as well as the Bose Adaptiq calibration headset (more on that later)When unboxing, the first thing that struck me was the build quality. It feels to be made of metal and glass which gives it a high-quality feel and makes it look fantastic when it sits under the TV. It also gives the real feel of depth to the sound, and even has a feel of surround sound thanks to the Dolby Atmos. On top of being a fantastic Sound Bar, it can also pair with music services and voice assistants, which more than compensates for its long length given you can consolidate technology in the room in which it placed.Whilst the price may seem high compared to other products, a purchaser is getting a quality product in terms of looks and performance, and I would recommend this product.

Sounds Every Bit As Good As I Hoped It Would

I Purchased The 900 Smart Soundbar Along With The 700 Bass Module After Deciding To Upgrade My Previous Soundbar (also Bose) I Decided To Follow The Instructions Which Consisted Of 'download The New Bose App' And I Must Say Set Up Was Really Simple And Straightforward, Make A Cuppa Whilst The Unit Initially Updates (about 10 Minutes) The App Sets Everything Up For You, Explaining Each Step Including Adding Alexa And Amazon Music, The Bass Module.... Very Very Simple.I Did Encounter One Issue.... Alexa Wouldn't Talk... She Was Operating, Turning Lamps On Etc But She Was Silent.... I Decided To Turn The Soundbar Off At The Wall Whilst I Made A Cuppa And That Sorted It... Alexa, Bluetooth Everything Was Working As It Should.Now.... The Sound... To Say I Am Impressed ... MoreI Purchased The 900 Smart Soundbar Along With The 700 Bass Module After Deciding To Upgrade My Previous Soundbar (also Bose) I Decided To Follow The Instructions Which Consisted Of 'download The New Bose App' And I Must Say Set Up Was Really Simple And Straightforward, Make A Cuppa Whilst The Unit Initially Updates (about 10 Minutes) The App Sets Everything Up For You, Explaining Each Step Including Adding Alexa And Amazon Music, The Bass Module.... To Say I Am Impressed Is Understatement, I Find Myself Pausing Films, TV... To See If What I'm Hearing Is Outside Or From The Soundbar... The 'Atmos' Effect Is Subtle But Immersive, Dialogue Is Crystal Clear The Bass Module Rumbles And You Can Actually Feel It Without It Being Loud... You Really Don't Need To Turn This System Up For It To Sound Amazing... It Just Does, Effortlessly.Playing Music Really Has Made Me Hear Things I've Never Heard Before (honestly). I've Thrown Classical Music At It As Well As Hard Rock And It Eats It All... I Really Am Utterly Bowled Over With This. The App Is Where Bose Normally Fall Down But I Must Say.... The App Is Really Well Done, Easy To Use And Allows You To Change Equalisation, Presets, Access And Search Music, Add Favourites....Lastly Cosmetics.... It All Looks Fantastic, Elegant, Refined.I Compared It To The Sonos Arc... Which, Sounded Great... But The Sonos Looks Like At Any Minute The Year 2005 May Demand It's Return, The Bose Looks Every Inch 2021 And Will Still Look Premium In The Coming Years.Buy One... Follow The App And Enjoy Awesome Sound!!

Top quality sound bar that fills the room like you are there

Beautifully made and whilst it is long it is unobtrusive. It would match the width of large TVs but its low profile means it will sit well in front of smaller screens too.It took about 45 minutes to fully set up, including a software update and use of a special headset to calibrate the sound output to the room. Set up was made easy by the excellent Bose app, which then doubles up as an alternative remote control. Initially the TV sound was also on but once everything was restarted it selected the sound bar without prompting. The sound quality is excellent. Having previously had a three speaker system including sub woofer I wasn't expecting the sound to be so good and whilst it doesn't quite match the sub's lowest sounds the overall quality is far superior. A particular strength is the surround sound that really enhances films, whilst feeling like you in the room with the performer when listening to music. The sound bar can be directly linked to music apps and can be voice activated although the microphone can also be muted for privacy.Overall, an excellent sound bar that I will enjoy for years to come.

Wonderful sound

A rich deep sound easily controlled by the Bose app (the UI on this could be a little friendlier). It set up quite easily with our LG55CX tv once we understood what we needed to do.We didn't buy the subwoofer or extra speakers initially but after setting it all up decided the small Bose surround speakers would enhance the directional sound but that's a personal choice. The sound was perfectly good without these. Our average size room didn't need the subwoofer, the base on the soundbar is very good and easily controlled on the app. There is also a Bose system called Adaptiq that helps set up the sound relevant to your room but we haven't found the need to use it.Overall very impressed. The downside - spending ages finding all the high quality movies and tv ... MoreA rich deep sound easily controlled by the Bose app (the UI on this could be a little friendlier).
