I upgraded from 80lbs. To 120lbs. set because of my progress. The equipment is very easy to adjust, I use it to perform all exercises from over head presses, deadlifts, bent over rows and bench presses. I'm 65 years old.

Pros:-Replacing 8 to 12 barbells with one unit is amazing. Yes it's much cheaper to buy an Olympic bar and plates, but people buy SelectTech for the space and time savings.-Changing weights is as easy as with the dumbbells.-As soon as it comes in stock, I'll be buying the upgrade to go to 120.-The black bars feel good and look great, though color has started to chip off in some spots.Cons:-The angled plates are odd. It makes it so you often need to flip it over before or after an exercise.-They don't snap into the weight holder nearly as easy as dumbbells. They will often get stuck outside on one side and it won't turn properly-The outer angle on the ez bar is awkwardly wide-There should be a 5lb micro adjuster. 10lbs is a big difference, so a 5lb bar clip ... MorePros:-Replacing 8 to 12 barbells with one unit is amazing. The plates are actually magnetic, so that may give some options.

Excellent product. It went above my expectations. I was expecting it to to be a bit shaky like the dumbbells but it actually is very sturdy. It adds on easily to the existing setup and the weight is more than enough for a good workout that makes you sore and grow muscles. Totally recommend. #sweepstakes

The non selected plates sometimes get stuck to plates that are attached to the bar. Causing them to drop, and it should have been fixed from factory. Small annoyance, with too much wiggle room for when you have upgraded weights. The issue is I believe due to too much screw slack between setting the position of the base in or out. There are no marking to which to best align and once it's screwed down only way you'll know it was incorrect is until you put the weights back on the bases.
Pretty simple. These extra 40 pounds increases the weight range of the Bowflex SelectTech 2080 Barbell with Curl Bar from 80 pounds up to 120 pounds. If I need more weight than that, then I've already gained significant strength from this set. Exactly what I'm after.I also recommend getting the Bowflex SelectTech 2080 Stand with Media Rack accessory to lift it off the floor and simplify your workouts. The instructions were pretty good but had one or two confusing bits. For example, the Lock Pin Actuator, Base should be moved inwards on both shrouds to accommodate the extra plates. That wasn't anywhere in the instructions. Happy lifting!
Great, versatile equipment which added numerous exercises that enhances my workouts. I now have the tool to do upright rows, tricep extensions, shoulder presses & a variety of other movements. Only problem is that I should have bought this sooner! NOTE: the directions to ensemble these products [i purchased the bars, the stand and the additional weights] are also on YouTube which clearly illustrated the steps and made it so easy to put them together!
I use the 2080 for strength training and to build muscle. I have the xtreme 2, M5, C6, select tech dumbbells, uppercut, push-up, and the stow away bench. Bowflex makes great product and I use my equipment 3 to 4x a week. Once you get immersed in the workout, time just flys by. If want to get in shape, start somewhere. Trust and go with BOWFLEX. I'm away on a trip right now , and I can't wait to get home and get flexed by BOWFLEX. Join me and let's get pumped. KJM IN NJ
I recently purchased a Bowflex SelectTech 2080 barbell with optional weight upgrade. The standard 80 lbs. barbell was great for doing curls, skull crushers, etc.--anything arm focused--but I wanted something heavier so I could do shoulder presses, squats, and lunges. The weight upgrade did the trick. It works seamlessly with the standard 2080 kit, but the added 40 lbs. provided me with the added resistance I needed to get a true total body workout. It was well worth the investment.
Fits perfectly in my 600 sq ft apartment. Between my Bowflex curl/straight bar, dumbbells (increments the same way), resistance bands, exercise bike, few medicine & inflatable balls, adjustable pylo box and I feel like I have everything needed for a great workout. What a great addition this was to my home gym!
I really like it. With the expanded plate pack, it was a little tricky to get the stand width configured correctly to allow the plate changes to work. Once I got it as good as I could, I still must ensure I am putting the barbell in evenly and level in order for it to lock in. Other than that, I really like the barbell system and I use it all the time. As a potential future accessory, it may be nice to have a squat rack configuration. Depending on a person's strength, getting a fully loaded 120 pounds from waist level to over one's head may be challenging.
