Cheap and Nasty

I bought two of these. Within 7 days the first one's compressor stopped working and we lost all our food. The second one lasted 10 days and the drawer wouldn't open past half way.

Love the draw fridge /freezer, keeps my mans meals frozen in the truck...best ever 👍👍👍

Ok for a fridge

Unit is alright to keep things cool, but don't ever expect it to go to freezer temps. Coldest mine has ever got is -2 and that's with 14c ambient temp. Even when using as a fridge it always runs 1 degree hotter than the set point so the compressor is always on. Tried reaching out to brass monkey but their email addresses don't exist anymore so don't expect any help

I bought this back around 7 months ago since the bushmaster 15l I’d bought for the console fridge was actually out of stock, but that was my plan anyway. Drawer fridge in the back, console fridge in the front. Can run one or both, set either to freeze, etc.The pros of a drawer fridge are that you can easily get to all the space without a fridge slider or removing gear from the top of the fridge. I looked at a lot of the more expensive drawer fridges and many had no basic metal cage around the rear to protect the compressor area. This one does. So if you haven’t built it into a cupboard yet, this model is workable to just put in the back of your vehicle. The main casing is sturdy and strong, I’m not scared to put some gear there.Another upside is the digital controls and included Bluetooth via an app. You do not need the app, but it’s handy; from nearby in the tent or cabin I can check my cold goodies are still cold, and the battery level. Some far more expensive fridges I looked at had a physical temp knob INSIDE the drawer which meant that nothing tall could be stored on that side of the fridge as sliding the drawer open would cause tall objects to jam on the back of that knob and possibly damage things. Very poor design. This brass monkey fridge does not have that problem.20L seems small but it’s plenty because of the way the drawer space can be used, especially if combined with another smaller fridge like the Bushman I’ve installed between the front seats. The height inside the brass monkey is good, a 3L milk container can lie down on its narrowest edge and its width fits within the height.Some other reviews here obviously got a faulty unit. I set mine to -18° and it stayed there quickly and reliably, midway into a trip for my daughters 4th birthday I was able to produce unicorn icecreams at the trailhead before our walk which went down very well. Having the option of solidly frozen ice cream far from civilisation is quite the luxury.Anyway it’s only 7 months old but super impressed so far and if I needed more space I’d consider running two of these units vs one larger fridge from another brand, could run at different temps that way anyway.I’ll update the review if I have any issues but so far very pleased.
